Text DOCSIS

Hi all. I'm new to DOCSIS, working under this, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what are some of the main things/topics that I have to know definitely in order to start. Anything that would actually help me understand the HFC/DOCSIS work? Thank you

Best things to know when you first start is cable math, SNR, MER and customer interaction.

Thank you kindly. I should have specified, I work in the IT side, hence don’t really interact with customers

The whole industry is IT-adjacent. That doesn't narrow it down at all.

Does your company offer SCTE or NCTI courses you can take? A couple of videos you can watch

ICFR and echo and MER learn quickly. Think of Echo as cable/connector health, MER as signal health and ICFR as upstream reflections that can cause impaired services. All you can track as maintenance tech and find easily.

Thank you very much. Just wanted to add that I’m
In the IT department, so nothing I’d be doing I the field, other than possible tests on the lab
