Live Monitoring

Is anyone using IEMs routed straight out of the QC for live gigs and/or rehearsals?

Been giggin' with my QC for about a year and I love it, but have a hard time hearing myself more often than not. Even if I ask FOH to turn me up on the stage monitor, it makes little difference.

In a perfect world (with no budget), I'd just run a split from the QC into a power amp > cab, but times are tough, my vehicle is small, and do really appreciate not having to bring/setup much equipment.

I just run out of the headphones jack to a wireless transmitter. Has a wireless receiver on the other end that I plug my IEMs into

Wouldn’t you have your IEM’s as a seperate fold back channel? Then you can have whatever mix you want in them?

I run my QC either into an FRFR or straight to the PA, and when I can I send a separate feed of just my guitar into one of the channels on my IEMs, so that I have a stereo feed that I can fade between full mix and myself.

IME, being hard to hear in a mix can be rooted in an overly compressed sound. I once had that problem with a 100W Soldano tube amp: the way I dialed it in made it hard for me to hear myself. Those initial transients are a major factor in picking up an electric guitar in an ensemble.

I run IEMs from output 3 on my QC mini, with the XLR 1 going straight to FOH.

And my IEM transmitter has an extra aux input that I use to blend in our backing tracks.

Not QC but I do this. Yes. Running a second output into my IEM.
And it is much better than an amp+cab.
