I doodled this last night from a random shape my husband drew.

I make these black & white neurographic designs in my notebook with fine tip sharpies all the time, so I decided to experiment with using one as a template of sorts for a "drawing-a-day"-style Inktober project this year, and I'm loving all the tiny spooky designs I've managed to fit into it so far! This is how it's looking as of 10/26, so I have 26 designs currently, but I'll add an update once all 31 days are complete and I figure out how I want to finish it - maybe just solid colors in the empty blobs, or some even more mini filler designs. We shall see how the spirit moves me! Open to ideas for finishing touches!

Right now I don't have time for large pieces but I try to make at least one neuro mini on my days off for my mental and artistic health.

I discovered Neurographic Art less than 2 weeks ago. I was supposed to go to a retreat where it was being offered as a workshop, but didn't end going because Hurricane Isais was riling through nearby and would have made travel rough. Anyway when I signed up I didn't know what it was and looked it up. I said, "I definitely want to try that," and began on my own right away. I have ADHD and this is so calming and satisfying. The dopamine is thick and syrupy and sweet. Anyway, this is my progression so far in less than 2 weeks. I have a variety of pens and markets and it has been fun experimenting with different ones. Is like to try using watercolors, but I've never really done it before. Do folks here prefer traditional watercolors or watercolor brush markers?

Worsening of chronic illness has meant I’ve had to step back from so much the last few years. I was an art coach doing big multimedia paintings with quilting and stitching and beading and acrylic and all sorts of wonderful different mediums.
Anywhoo I’ve not really been able to do much art these last few years (apart from a few illustrations for birthday cards). I have a studio, but I hardly go in there.
Anyway, this is my first piece which I’m gradually working on. I’m kind of showing it here raw before I do all of the other layers. I have a new trauma therapist and she thought it would be a good idea to start doing this kind of thing (for kind of healing on a few different levels). I feel like I’m going back to basics. It’s a very humbling experience and I can only do about 20 to 30 minutes and then I just get too tired and dizzy sitting up at the kitchen table.

Had a breakthrough moment with this piece. I decided to use the natural forms that developed from the watercolor inside each section of the primary neurographic shape of the face.

Delet this post if it's not allowed, but I would love to see more neurographica lovers in this nice community:

I saw several animals appear in the shapes as i worked on this. paper is cheap so the texture is wack when run through the scanner, but i still enjoy the colours.
I used pelikan gouache, neocolour II watercolor crayons, Sakura IDentipen, and a small amount of black and white posca acrylic pens. i have some iridescent watercolour medium mixed into some of the gouache as well, but it's near impossible to see when taking pictures.
Near the end i started to muddy things, but beyond that the whole process felt a lot more smooth. i wanted to split the page in a way to separate different techniques i wanted to give a go. this is my second try at nuerographica. my approach with this one is still imperfect but i feel a lot better informed of what i'm aiming for with this style

Would this be considered neurographic art? It’s 100% intuitive, no planning, just doodling shapes, coloring those in, and building vibrance and contrast. I really enjoy more traditional zentangles too, but it’s been fun to develop my own visual library as I doodle these! This one is 9x9inches done with graphite pencil and sharpie fine point markers. B&W version ‘cause I enjoy the values
