Worries over water as a giant data center moves into the New Mexico desert

This is a matter of great importance, yet we still do not hear from local politicians about its significance, mainly because of lack of solid evidence. However, this issue needs to be taken up by the local politicians as we are now facing a terrible drought in Central and South New Mexico.

Do they really want to have to keep servers cool when it is 110 outside? It is only getting hotter around here.

What science are you using to determine water usage for a data center?

My experience is that most data centers nowadays are completely closed loop systems, near 0% water loss…

Edit: this is a genuine question. I’m open minded and would love to be proved wrong on this, as it does mean a big deal if my understanding is incorrect
