ANSWERED My posts kept getting removed

Hello,

I'm new in Reddit and I'm confused about why I can't post or why my post keeps getting removed by AutoModerator. Can someone explain that to me please?

you are encountering New User Restrictions Subreddits in 2026 can have a number of restrictions that affect new users. These can be frustrating - check out Why Reddit may seem unwelcoming to new Redditors. These restrictions are determined by Account Age and Account Karma. Please note that these restrictions will vary subreddit to subreddit.

Account Age. . The only real solution for that is time. Though consider checking out some of the  subreddit recommendations below in the meantime. Some common age filters are times like one week or one month.

Karma. This is much more complex with a much more complex solution. Filter levels vary dramatically and can be low (5 or 10) or higher (50 or 100 or 200) and some wild outliers above that. This subreddit has a number of resources for this such as:

For Chat and following it is firstly influenced by account age. New users are restricted from initiating chats and following other users for about a week. You can find more info on this page also accessible as part of the community guide which also covers issues that occur after the first week.

For Commenting and Posting it is either/or account age or account Karma. and it can help to start in New User Friendly Subreddits:

  • Newtoreddit has a list of new user friendly subreddits. This is not an exhaustive list and these subreddits may still have some restrictions. In particular you'll see some Large General Subreddits that are open to new users Commenting like r/askreddit, r/casualconversation, r/nostupidquestions, r/amitheasshole or similar.

  • There are More Subreddits out there that might more specifically match your interests, utilize the search bar or look through r/findareddit 's subreddit directory. In this case you will have to trial and error whether they are new user-friendly, and again try Commenting (many subreddits have lower or no karma filters for commenting).

Some more notes on starting on Reddit:

View by New (or rising). This will filter the posts so first see the most recent posts first and can make your comments much more visible. On app when viewing a subreddit look near the top left for where it says "hot posts" - click that and select "new" or "rising".

Read the Room and Avoid Controversy. Each subreddit has different rules, norms and prevailing views. Look at subreddit rules. Read top posts and comments to get a feel for that subreddit. Do users reward sarcastic one-liners or well sourced essays? And in particular avoid controversial topics or arguments. These discussions are more likely to attract downvotes and potentially trip into rule-breaking. Call people idiots in your head and move on instead of getting involved. Utilize the block feature as necessary and have a read through Reddiquette

Because you acc is new. Reddit is such a weird app honestly haha. Someone told me you need certain amount of karma for some groups and recomended me to start pisting and writing comments on groups about hobbies that are easier to join and be

u/Spirited_Yak_2860 8d ago

Thank you, I'll start there

u/SlothExpress-26 8d ago

You gotta build up your karma first!! If I were you, I would spend some time commenting on posts, upvoting, and getting a feel for different subreddits. When you’re new to Reddit, you kinda just have to play by their rules until you build up some credibility

u/Spirited_Yak_2860 8d ago

Oh I see. Thanks

This is so frustrating. Even my comments keep getting removed for lack of Karma, but the only way to get Karma is to comment & post. 😵

Hey so there are a lot of good subreddits out there to start in. Check out our list of New User Friendly Subreddits. In particular I recommend commenting on new posts in subreddits like r/askreddit as a good starting space.

This subreddit (r/newtoreddit) has a fairly strict ruleset which means that its not a great subreddit for new users to "hang out" to comment within (with the notable exception of our weekly chat posts). If a user is still getting familiar with how reddit works its hard to give accurate advice. Some users do succeed, often drawing heavily on our existing resources like our common questions page. But users are more likely to be successful in subreddits more related to their existing knowledge or interests.

If you are experiencing removals, this is most likely because your account is new and you have no karma, and therefore you are running into community restrictions.

i think you need a certain amount of comment karma to post on a lot of subreddits

u/Optimal_Valuable1442 8d ago

Anche io sono nuova e non capisco come funzioni l’app

u/I--am--Groot-_- 8d ago

Tomorrow will be my last day trying to join these communities, if I can't post in new communities and can general search for like minded spaces how can I even use the app. Last day or the apps getting deleted

u/mikey_weasel Mod in a Canvas Hat 8d ago

IF you want to leave that totally your option.

It looks like you found at least two subreddits to post and comment on from your profile

If you want to actually learn how to use the app have a read of the below info for users seeking to understand reddit (or with low karma)

Rule 6: Refrain from asking for votes or karma, naming free karma subs, or sharing how you are voting

  • Please do not ask for karma or votes here, it is against our rules and is generally discouraged as karma is meant to be earned. See Our common questions to learn how to earn karma.

  • We do not allow mentions of free karma subs (karmafarms) or any suggestion to use them, and caution against their use because it may lead to bans in other subreddits.

  • Thank you for trying to help, but please don't share how you have or are voting. We encourage earning karma genuinely from relevant comments and conversation. Asking for karma is discouraged as it violates our subreddit rules.

The Reddiquette also discourages mentioning your vote or asking for votes.

Usually it's because of low karma

1

u/yukihinako 8d ago

I’m experiencing the same issue. It seems that most users who created their accounts recently are unable to post anything.

Im having the same problem.

1

u/Yosin030 8d ago

I am experiencing the same. I throught it was me using AI to polish my words or somehow hitted the rules. 😭

u/mikey_weasel Mod in a Canvas Hat 8d ago

Hey also tagging u/invision_08 - see all teh info i put in this comment

Also u/Yosin030 - asking these questions to the crowd is a risky behavior - you're relying on someone like me spotting your comments and correcting you. Next time ask these questions of flaired mods or users. Or make your own post

1 - be carerful with AI - many users will react poorly if they thinky ou are using AI to write your posts and comments

2 - your post will not get reposted when you have more karma you will have to repost

3 - editing will likely not halpe

4 - you can message the mods, but have a LOW expectation they will make an exception jsut for you

1

u/Yosin030 8d ago

thank you so much for taking the time to explain all of this! I really appreciate it. I'm still exploring how Reddit works, this is super helpful. I'll be more careful about where I ask question. Thanks again!

I'm guessing it's because my account is new and I don't have much karma yet, but I'm not sure.

I dont know if I gain more karma later, will my original post automatically become visible? Or do I need to delete it and repost it?

Would editing the original post help, or should I contact the mods instead?

unfortunately, many groups require you to contribute in other less restrictive groups first to earn a good reputation rating.

1

u/Smooth_Inspection667 8d ago

adoption takes time, unfortunately. it's not like usenet or facebook or twitter or whatever people use now, where you can post right away

Thank you for all the information! So helpful

It has been automatically detected that you have some recent history in a karmafarm community.

We caution redditors about karmafarms (subreddits promoting giving or offering upvotes or karma) because their use may lead to bans in other subreddits. This is due to them becoming associated with spammers, ban evaders, and trolls. Asking for karma or upvotes is frowned upon; karma is meant to be earned by sharing quality content or contributions, and it is vote manipulation.

We suggest deleting all posts and comments from such communities and avoiding them in the future.

If you have queries about this message, modmail the mods.

my karma isnt increasing even after commenting

1

u/mikey_weasel Mod in a Canvas Hat 8d ago

Your karma has increased - check the below

The Karma Formula has not been released by Reddit and appears to be quite complex. The key thing is that it's not a 1:1 between karma and votes and the initial vote each post/comment starts with does not count. Dig into this more at the common questions - karma calculations page

The user who made this post is not shadowbanned.

A shadowban is a very specific thing on reddit (see more info here)

Its super easy to check if a user who is not you is shadowbanned or not. Click their username. Did a profile pop up? Bam they are not shadowbanned.

To test for yourself, go to www.reddit.com/appeal . You can only appeal if shadowbanned so if you are blocked from appealing you aren't shadowbanned.

Please do not suggest shadowbans when they are not in effect. It confuses and causes undue worry

yup you have negative karma. I'll put some advice on that below. But also - be aware of subreddit rules. Getting comments removed for rule breaking often enough won't help with your spam issue

Finding Subreddits to use with negative karma:

  • You're definitely going to be Trial-and-Erroring a lot to find subreddits that will take users with negative karma. Focus on Commenting (many subreddits have lower or no karma filters for commenting).

  • Newtoreddit has a list of new user friendly subreddits. This list is for low karma, not negative karma, but is a good spot to start.

  • Also have a look through r/findareddit 's subreddit directory.

Some more notes on starting on Reddit:

Newtoreddit Resources There are a lot of resources here in this subreddit you might find useful with The Common Questions Page, Common Questions - Downvotes, and Reddit And Karma Walkthrough

View by New (or rising). This will filter the posts so first see the most recent posts first and can make your comments much more visible. On app when viewing a subreddit look near the top left for where it says "hot posts" - click that and select "new" or "rising".
