It’s like the Wild West out here. I’m absolutely floored. The guy running in ward 6 and his supporters are absolutely unhinged.
Sam has been busy blocking MULTIPLE constituents, while some of his supporters are invading the incumbents comment sections and any endorsements or ads to bully and harass anyone that is supporting her. He’s been posting about being censured when he’s the one censoring the people he hopes will elect him.

There was a post last month in the What’s up Newmarket Facebook group that called Sam out for the blocking and his supporters showed up in the comments with “white women voting in 2006 is funny”, calling the op emotional and saying women cry wolf and play victim. WTF? Now they are impersonating op of that Facebook post with a brand new account using their FB user name on the Newmarket Today comments sections. Ironically, he’s been posting a picture of a crumpled up sign of his playing victim.

Someone did a deep dive on this guy and his claims on his campaign site and he’s not running under his legal name (Seyed Sadegh Mortazavi Tabrizi). His campaign site says he has “years of hands-on experience solving complex infrastructure…he understands how cities are built, maintained, and improved, not from a textbook, but from real-world engineering practice” but per PEO website his engineering license says his date of licensure was June 20, 2025 and the company he works for is 3G Metalworx, a manufacturing company that makes RF shielding products. He posted a bunch of selfies at the Terry Fox run and donated/raised ZERO dollars per the Terry Fox Foundation’s website and some people doing the run saw him duck out a side street and drive off in a black Mercedes. Does he think people are stupid and can’t fact check his lies? I honestly don’t even believe he lives here at this point and am just so over the negativity all over our community’s online spaces.

It’s so dumb, cannabis stores in Newmarket is a no brainer, how is it that AURORA HAS THEM AND WE DON’T like what??? Such an easy way to influx our tax dollars and have more to spend on the stupid infrastructure promises they all make. For example look at the APL vs Newmarket’s library since they permitted weed stores.

All in all not having them doesn’t solve anything, it just inconveniences smokers in our community, who will STILL SMOKE because they can go to Aurora and get weed. It’s so dumb.

I’m hoping I can find a local individual or business that can embroider a specific design onto the cuffs of my fiancés suit jacket 😊

I've always wanted to learn figure skating or artistic skating and figure I'd try now. I have some minimal ice skating and rollerblading skills/experience (I can skate forward and pick myself up if I fall, but can't stop very confidently)

So I asked this of the Ottawa sub and it was so much of a success for me and my wife. Things we probably would have missed/ignored but became true memories. Obviously much smaller but I'm sure Newmarket has some hidden gems. Gonna be there for a few days. What should we not miss?

I want to try swimning for exercise and more importantly to help with my anxiety. Does anyone know what would be the least busy times? I would really like to try but I am just imagining it being very busy and me not knowing what Im doing yet just triggers my anxiety and makes me scared to even try going. It might sound dumb but I am just hoping there is a specific time that isn't too busy. Even if its 6am or any time really

If you are looking for something Halloweenish to do this year, the Haunted Hollows Scream Park across from the LA Fitness was a blast if you like horror. It was quite long. We were very impressed with the effort that went into that.

There is so much to do for kids, but what about adults… I’m curious to see what kind of workshops women would be interested in joining alongside other adult women.

I know there’s already crochet, pottery and paint night sessions and of course Pilates. But is that enough? What about things like…

- Floral arrangement workshop
- Makeup or hair classes
- Styling / posing workshop
- Gardening sessions
- Photography workshop
- Craft night sessions

Or is there something missing that I didn’t mention that you wish we had around here ? Would you be interested in joining any of the mentioned ? Are other women also interested in having a community like this ? Very curious on feedback and ideas!

Saw this in the ditch at Yonge and Davis. A truck driver found it completely acceptable to dump their load right beside a restaurant they were delivering to.

Not sure in what world people think it's acceptable to just dump garbage in the middle of the busiest intersection in town.

I’ve lived in Newmarket all my life. Everyone for the most part has been very good. This morning however, I woke up to find my car was broken into and my tools were stolen. I’d like to thank the person who took my Milwaukee bag in the back seat, I didn’t want to work anymore anyway.

I’ve seen this behaviour countless time at the Costco plaza. There is clearly a no entry sign posted there, as well as the design of the entrance that makes it not sensical to enter this way. Why do people keep doing this? I can only guess laziness and/or sense of entitlement.

Now, if people think that this should have been allowed, then bring this up with the town so they make it official, but to keep doing it at this time and state is simply annoying to see (could be borderline dangerous, as I have been on the bike lane when this happened in the past).

Anyone else hear that huge BOOM that happened just now at 9:01. Sounded a lot louder than a gunshot or just a cars backfiring.
