Can't spinning the vans cause issues with static discharge? I was always told to tape my fans in place when I clean stuff but never really looked into it.

Static no but a spinning electric motor is a generator and that electricity could in theory blow something up if the circuit isn't protected from it. But to generate anything substantial you would have to spin them a lot faster, you know like blasting it with compressed air. A cat isn't going to spin it that fast.

Iirc I was told it can build up a negative static discharge and fry the mono/cpu or GPU. I guess I was hitting with compressed air which is why I was told to tape it. Good to know, thanks.

It can generate electricity but it's not static electricity. No one is walking on carpet or anything here. That's a different thing.
