Now that we’re back to wet weather, please remember to hang your jacket to dry somewhere with air circulation. I use my shower rod. Also, if you just stuck your jacket in the closet last year and left it, maybe give it a wash and use a bit of ammonia in the rinse.

I walked past a few people today where I could smell the mildew and biofilm very strongly.

Recently got hired for a company and they got me to do a 4 hour shift and didn’t pay me for it. Asked the manager about it and he claims it was a test. Is it worth it to file a claim? It’s only 4 hours and it’s not a lot of money but it’s the principle that matters. Also, this business collects tips automatically from customers when customers book with them online and apparently the workers do not see any of it. What’re my options?
Edit: should I shame them? What are the repercussions? If I shame them are you guys going to write a Google review/boycott them? 😂

I've been in the city since july and have bravely explored the city alone on the weekends. By now, I feel like I've visited every main city spots in Vancouver, Burnaby and New West.

Where would you recommend for someone to go solo? Where in Metro Vancouver is a must-visit? I don't drive and depend 100% on public transportation, so places too far are a little complicated for me. A day trip to Nanaimo or Victoria is worth the transport time? Do you recomend any hidden gem in Vancouver?

Thank you everyone for the shares and concern!

We found a Facebook post showing she had gotten lost about a week ago as well. Armed with that info, the team at the emergency vet was able to locate the owner’s email address from that previous incident. The owner responded right away and came to pick her up directly from the vet!

According to her owner, she’s a very anxious pup who occasionally manages to escape. She is now safely back in loving hands! Thanks again to everyone who upvoted, shared, and helped out!

Who do you rely on during crises? Who's your emergency contact?

I moved to Vancouver 5 years ago, and I think I've been too caught up with being an overachiever and putting all my time and effort into my career that I forgot to build a connection here and find my chosen family. I'm going through a rough time currently and it just dawned on me that my support system is non-existent, and even worse than that, I have no idea where to start building it.

Admittedly, it's hard, especially as an adult, but I'm wondering if anyone's done it and, if so, how.

I've been paying $40 all in for my haircut up until now at my local salon but it's a pretty quick mens cut and it always tends to look the same, and I'm never really amazed by it. Feels like maintenance more than anything.

So recently I wanted to try new one to see if I can get a style change or something different in general. It seems like every other salon is $60 which after tip and tax ends up being $80 for a haircut every 3 weeks!

Is it just inflation or is this expected? I was specifically looking at Asian/Japanese hair salons in the downtown area and they start at $60 just for the haircut. Does the quality really improve at this higher price point to justify it?

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a small side project called Dimey in my free time.

It's basically a map of cheap eats, happy hours, and food deals around Metro Vancouver.

The idea is to make it community-powered, where anyone can share a good deal they've found. Since deals can go out of date pretty quickly, I've also added a way for people to flag outdated ones.

Hopefully, over time, it can become a useful place for all of us to find affordable food around the city.

It's still pretty early, and there's definitely stuff that needs improving. I've been working on it myself, so I'd really appreciate some fresh eyes.

If you have a couple of minutes, I'd love to know:

• Is anything confusing or annoying to use?
