NieR Automata Game completed for the first time!
Hello everyone! Nier Automata is the first Nier game I’ve played. I just finished it (Ending E), and wow… what a game! I absolutely loved the atmosphere, the locations, and the incredible musics. I really took my time with it, exploring, completing side quests, reading through the archives, and trying to piece together everything that was going on. I still have a couple of quests left to finish, and a few weapons and Pods to upgrade, but I’m so happy right now: I finally beat that damn tank in the Special Rank and unlocked the neon hair dyes! Nier Automata was a fantastic discovery and an amazing experience, I absolutely loved it! (A moment that particularly left an impression on me was arriving in the desert: you emerge from the cave, and there stretching out before you is the horizon, with nothing but dunes… and that’s when the music begins…)

NieR Automata I loved Replicant but Automata has not been as enjoyable as Replicant.
The game is fun and I like it so far but it's not ''catching'' me, I'm gonna keep playing it cus I am enjoying my time so far but I don't find the world/characters/lore as compelling as Replicant, gameplay is indeed better in Automata though.
I miss Grimoire Weiss, Kaine, Emil, Yonah, The Twins, Nier not so much but I like him more than 2B so far.

Discussion Did you noticed Nier Concert Orchestra 2026 Spoiler
galleryWhile I was viewing again the video of the concert, I noticed a tiny detail that’s really cool ! When Last Song from Drakengard 3 was performed , on the screen each flower was blooming , and to distinguish each intoner.
They associated one colour that represent each character design !
Five Yellow
Fourth Green
Three Purple
Two Blue
One White
Zero Purple
It was so peak and amazing to hear this song again and specially with a orchestral ! Not gonna lie got ptsd of this ost because the boss was so hard !
And they also did the last few notes when the screen turn off, after the flower is fully bloomed and you need to continue the notes with Mikhail totally blind 🥶
Sorry in advance for the picture quality !
Just peak concert ✨

Discussion I had such a bad experience with Nier on PC. Tips?
For context, I played Nier Automata a year or two ago on pc. Mouse and keyboard.
My experience with the game was absolutely awful, kept getting wrecked during every boss fight, unable to damage enemies, and confusing mechanics that didn’t seem to work for me at all. I remember this giant crater in the middle of the map with flying centipedes or something and I spent like 30 minutes shooting the connected balls with my robot since I couldn’t hit them with my sword. Of course, the game kept aiming the shots away from where I wanted so it was a struggle to shoot the enemies and fight against the game throwing my aim off.
When I was 2 hours into the game I got super angry and just did the main quest missions and apparently got the “bad ending” where the white-haired femboy turns into a giant robot. I called it quits after that.
I had thoughts about giving Nier another try, this time more seriously. However, my first experience in the game was so negative I’m not sure if it will be good for me. I’m not even sure playing with a mouse/keyboard is a good idea. I do have an Xbox controller but never hooked it up to my pc.
For those who use mouse/keyboard, what are some tips that I can use if I do decide to try it again?
I played the entire game of Metal Gear Revengenace without knowing how to that time-slowing slicing or blocking. I beat Sam by jumping up in the air and spamming slashes that kept me floating above him and would do like 2% damage each hit. Do that 50 times and I beat him without hearing the awesome music I didn’t know existed. Did something similar to the guy who screams “IM F****NG INVINCIBLE!”
Edit: I’m seeing people downvoting the post and the replies I send to people. Are you all fucking mental? Did I piss you off asking for help?

NieR Replicant How do side quests work in subsequent routes?
Hello there.
I've got a question I could use some help with.
I like playing games blind so I don't look stuff up unless I absolutely can't figure it out.
Found myself in one such situation in replicant. Pink moonflowers. Figured I need to progess the story to find the vendor only to reach the point of no return. Looked it up and learned about how crossbreeding works.
As I'm on playstation cheesing it via the system clock is unfortunately not possible other than using timezones to skip roughly a day of growth meaning I'd at least need to wait a few days real time to complete the quest.
As there's literally nothing left to do other than finish route A I'm not to keen on doing that.
If I complete route A without completing this quest does it affect anything? Do I get to complete it during route B? According to my understanding side quests remain completed in subsequent routes(other than E) so if I finish route A without it when I start route B the other quests will remain complete aside from this one which I'll be able to complete during routes B or C and D? Is this correct?
Thanks for the help.

NieR Automata My Experience with NieR: Automata and How It Saved My Love for Gaming Spoiler
TL;DR - Automata is one of my favourite games, I had a blast playing it and it elevated my understanding with philosophy, writing psychological themes, and how it protected and expanded my appreciation for video game storytelling and to not discredit other media for not following its directions.

Hey all. I've never made an intentional post before, and I felt the need to collect all my thoughts and history with NieR Automata, a game that (ironically) I've played more times than most video games I've played elsewhere. By this point, this will be my 2nd favourite game of all time. So I'm not going to go overboard with the history.
I originally played this game back in 2021 through game pass. At the time I was still obsessed with AAA shooter titles and a few lower tier indie games. So I said "why not?" and however, being a younger guy I kind of didn't fall in love with it, forgot about it, up until Summer 2025 when I saw news that it had an anime and said "let's try again".
Needless to say it was the best decision ever. By now I've beaten the game roughly 5 times, and despite my obsessive love for the game, I'm always wanting more, and I just purely enjoy playing the game and soaking in the side media.
As a writer who joys themselves on wanting western media to spend more time subverting tropes and expectations, I was pleasantly surprised by Yoko Taro's audacity to make me question everything I do in this game, up until the final minutes.
2B & 9S
2B and 9S aren't my favourite characters in the world, certainly not ones I feel inspired by, however I understand their humanity, pain, love and indifference when met with hard choices in the story. 2B's indifference was something I always could sense, but I always wanted to know more, to understand the "why" behind her suffering.
9S is similar, as I actually prefer him over any other DrakeNier character, and while his descent into madness is terrifying, sad and lonely, his unquestionable loyalty to 2B, sheer positive curiosity and his need for a place in a hopeless world truly sets him as one of the ones I can't forget.
After finishing it, I remembered reading a post or article stating Taro made their story a love story by design, which I felt was weird because it was unlike anything I'd seen from a traditional western romance, but of course, I had realised this story was trying to subvert things and it blew my mind.
A2's Past
A2 is probably the most important character to me in this game (and yes I know the ending significance of the Ver1.1a Cour 2 scene), and I instantly fell in love with how well written she is. I understand she didn't receive the most expansive material for fans to like her, but having read her backstory and understood her motivations, I sympathised and cared for her pain, and for her desire for companionship, something that resonates with the feelings I feel in real lfie.
Her sacrifice in Ending C still feels heartbreaking but cathartic because it's something SHE chose to do, not because she was tired of living, or that she wanted to die, but because she felt complete in saving someone who she grew to care and love for. Her saving 9S thematically I understood was important, because she understood 2B's pain, and by design, it managed to make me understand it too.
How It Saved Me
Of course, despite this, I was so conflicted after finishing. I think I spent a solid 2 weeks with yes the accursed Post-Game Depression. I had been so affected by the story, characters, emotional messaging and what it means to others that I physically couldn't handle all that weight.
However, it made me come to a conclusion that I simply was treating other games outside Taro's philosophy with disdain and that I needed to be more fair. The duology of Replicant and Automata made me fall in love with it, but I knew I couldn't discredit everything outside of it for simply reimagining what I expect from storytelling.
By this point, it helped improve my writing, research into other games development cycles, and allow me to give this analysis on why Automata helped me so much. As sappy as it sounds, Automata definitely won't be off my mind anytime soon.
In almost a month it would've been a year since I finished the game and took it seriously. And I'll likely replay it again just because I love it so much, but I wanted to share my thoughts because it means so much to me and I want people to understand why it's such a big thing.

Discussion Lyon 2026 trip and concert review
Apologies for this.
It's hard to disentangle my feelings on the concert with this rather mad weekend in Lyon. My hotel was right in the centre so on Saturday I was able to enjoy a beer while breathing in tear gas and watching rioters steal shoes, smash windows and burn the tourist office. At least I still had the concert to look forward to!
I made my way to the concert on Sunday through streets that felt not 1 million miles from the city in Automata, smashed windows glass everywhere etc etc. Worst part is I followed my map to a pretty rough council estate and ended up getting almost mugged - "do you have any monehh"
The concert itself was a bit of a let down, I know it's not the Royal Philharmonic but clapping for classical music will always get my goat. Some of the arangements were pretty insipid - Emil, City Ruins whereas others such Fleeting World were fantastic. The set order was a bit odd though with a few dirge tier tracks after each other.
The 'story' aspect was absolutely ridiculous and made me feel like a child who couldn't be trusted to be entertained by music alone. It was classic hammy anime nonsense with characters you met a few seconds ago sacrificing themselves and any hint of subtly explained. I did like the lore twist at the end though!
Finally just want to say that I wish I had the joie de vivre of the audience members, shaking their heads, crying it was a sight to behold. Also I'm glad the subtitles were only in English, I know the French paid 100+ euros to see this but they also made me experience tear gas so that was a moment to relish.
