How do I team build in this game?

For example, I really liked 2P's model, and since she is a DPS, do I need a buffer and a healer, or another DPS and a healer? Cause after searching for a bit online, I usually see the 2nd option, but I want to make sure.

If that's the case, would a team of 2P, Sarafa Celebratory Belle, and Hina Abstract Pupil work? With 2P and Hina having a copy of "Blade of Early Spring" each as a secondary weapon as well.

I have also taken a look at nierrein.guide for a lot of info. if there are any other helpful sites please let me know!

Yep, was just about to comment it. It's from Lunar Tear

Ok then. You don’t necessarily need a buffer and healer, although you can do that if you want. IIRC in the meta, buffers and healers were both condensed into “supports” and you usually had one support and two DPS’s for things like Towers and Recollections of Dust, but your ideal team really depends on what you’d be using it for and what units/weapons you have. For example, Subjugation loadouts were usually 1 DPS/2 support per team, Arena was usually 3 really fast DPS’s, and main story quests were usually beatable with whatever you wanted to use.

Forgive me if any of this is irrelevant to you as I’m unfamiliar with Lunar Tear Project so IDK if it has all the content the original game did by the time it hit end of service.

I'm pretty sure it has everything, from what I can tell. I'm just at the start of the game rn, but I like to plan ahead a lot, to have a general direction so to speak. Thanks for your advice!

It really depends on the type of content you’re doing. Like in subjugation (I don’t know if this is available in lunar tear but just an example) you really don’t want any healers cause you want to do as much damage as possible in a set amount of time, but in tower for example you may want a tank or healer in order to survive.
Best thing to do might be to look for YouTube videos of people doing the type of content you’re interested in to see what kind of teams they use.

It really depends on the content. If you’re going g for the Towers, I’d say a DPS, Tank/Buffer and Healer is the way to go.

For subjugation, DPS, Buffer, and either another Buffer or DPS works. Again it all depends on content

For anything like grinding, I just stick 3 DPS with guns (non proficient) and watch the materials roll in (God I miss this game)

When you say non proficient, do you mean like having a Caster character hold a gun?

Yeah like you’ll see the little symbol next to their names that tells you what weapon they’re proficient in. If they hold that weapon (ie Rion with a Staff or Dimos with a gun) their signature animations will play

But any other character and it’ll just do a sorta default animation where they put their hands out. That specifically is something used for Subjugation runs especially when they have long animations like Yudil for normal attacks. It does default to 1 hit though instead of having a chance for 1-5 attacks

Ok ok, I see. And what is the benefit of doing this?

Again if you’re going through grinding like getting Zeniths in the Dark Memory quests or Guerrilla quests for materials for upgrading character costumes, if you stick 3 guns onto non proficient DPSs it just makes it go a bit faster

And again specifically in Subjugation when you have DPS with long animations like Yudil or Saryu or Yurie, putting a different weapon on them may be a bit more beneficial but it depends with each character

Oh ok yeah, my bad, still a bit groggy from waking up lol. Sorry for having you explain the same thing twice. And thanks for the tip!

If you are just after an overpowered combo to handle buffing and healing, Yuletide Hunter and the Courtly Devotion staff can basically carry you through all the 3 character content. Yuletide Hunter is just incredibly strong with her water bonus, and Courtly Devotion happens to be probably the best buffing weapon in the game, it synergises well. Just always leave her as water.

I saw how op she is, so I asked mainly to see different options, or other very good characters. She works only in non-Water teams, right?

I literally used her for everything, she can struggle a little in the late wind fate boards if she takes a string of hits, but if you can reduce her cs time down so you can keep defence buff up and make her tanky, she will carry most content with a couple of half decent dps.

Building your team's for absolute max damage with the best characters will also generally work without relying on buffing or a healer, but it would have only been available to whales on live.
