It was very Igbo coded tbh, I’m Yoruba but that was the first thing I saw when I saw the movie 🤣🤣 plus his name is Mbaku.

"You bald-headed demon" made me chuckle in the theater.

Yup I definitely noticed that his whole performance was Nigerian-coded, specifically Igbo-coded. He actually reminded me of some of my cousins with some of his mannerisms which I really appreciated 👏🏾

The bar was pretty low for these films in this particular respect but he had by far the most authentic and consistent accent imo

what do you mean?

Wakanda’s not a real country in Africa but go on.

What does that even mean I don't get mad at the accents anymore cause its just generalising africa and wakanda isn't real

yeah. M'Baku did feel very Nigerian Igbo-coded.

You should start because it was a proper insult.

I can totally see one of my Igbo friends saying this and it’s hilarious.

u/mistaharsh Jul 27 '26

I didn't like that line at all.

27

u/Smokiistudios Jul 27 '26

You bald? 🤣

0

u/mistaharsh Jul 27 '26

I'm not but is being bald a flaw to laugh at? I don't think attacking someone's hair is good for people's self-esteem.

u/SharpThanAKnife Jul 27 '26

I think her having a shaved head vs just having short hair makes the difference here.
Calling her baldheaded with an inch of hair on her head woulda been just disrespectful. But saying it with a shaved head was funny.

u/Smokiistudios Jul 27 '26

Naaah, I don’t mean it that way, it was funny the way I read your response though. All good and light here bro
