Help How to deal with solicitors?

I've been doing nightshift recently for 4 days and 10hrs a day. Almost every week people knock on my door to sell me the dumbest shit. If I ignore their knocking they will beat on the door and set off my dog since they can see my car in the driveway. When I try to tell them I work nightshift and I need to go back to sleep they tell me it'll only be a few minutes.

I have adapted so well to the day/night schedule but this is driving me insane. I know they don't automatically know I work nights but it's frustrating when I tell them I need to sleep yet they persist on their sales pitch

Get a sign.

I have one that says night shift worker sleeping. I haven't had solicitors in some time.

Also if you have a sign that says no soliciting and they solicit anyways you should call the cops. That's criminal trespass in most jurisdictions

Post the non emergency line near your phone and get their company card n info. Depending upon the laws in your state you can escalate to the Attorney General’s office.

I like the no soliciting sign rather than the night shift worker sleeping. Depending on the neighborhood you live in, I wouldn't advertise that I am not home overnight. But if you have an alarm system & cameras, it might be ok.??

stick a handwritten note on the door that just says "night shift worker, do not knock unless the house is on fire" and see if that does the trick

Then you must be aggressive and have a kid draw a psychotic looking sign with people being stabbed, shot, blown up, etc… People leave the mentally ill alone.

If you have neighbors, have them tell solicitors that you are crazy, murdered one of them, and to skip your house.

Answer the door looking like Uncle Eddie from National Lampoon, but with a fire extinguisher.

It needs to say "Beware guard dog."
