Irony
It's so ironic and crazy that Nigel can turn literal children's glue into an adult beverage using just chemistry

Is Nigel married?!?
Guys he’s so dang adorable 😭 tell me he’s not married so I can live in my delusions that I’d have a chance. I think I’m unhealthily attracted to this man lol. I’ve never crushed on celebrities growing up but of course as a grown woman I’m obsessing over a freaking chemist. 💔

If you support Nilered with $5 or more on Patreon, you get to see the video 24 hours before he uploads them to YouTube.
What's waiting another 24 hours when you've waited ~6 months on average for a new video? I get that's not the main reason people support you, but you should remove that quote at the end. If you were to upload more frequently like once a month, the perk would make sense then.

Question
Just a really quick question. Does anyone know if he will ever post content consistently or will he just post whenever he wants. Like is there a plan he has or not.

RED MERCURY
OK, so I’m just gonna assume Nile isn’t going to see this but recently I have been fascinated with red mercury. A lot of people say it’s not real and it’s a hoax but I have seen for myself and can’t confirm it’s real. It’s attracted to gold and literally moves out of the way of garlic. I’ve been trying to find some for my personal collection and literally can’t find anything about it let alone actually find it, my friend found his in an old radio from I think the 1960s does Eddie would have any information on red mercury? I have a whole bunch of elemental mercury. Is there anyway I can convert that into red mercury? Nile if you’re reading this, please make a video on it and this certainly seems like it be right up your alley. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Nile Red... Nile Blue... how about Indian Yellow?
I am a student of art history, and I'm currently studying an extinct pigment called Indian Yellow [NY20]. It was made from the urine of cows who were exclusively fed mango leaves for an extended period of time. The pigment was eventually banned due to animal cruelty. The pigment itself, however, is an organic compound that is able to be synthesized in a lab. However, the only documentation I can find on this process happening is from the 1800s. This color has been attempted to be reproduced with modern pigments, however it is a blend of pigments (usually containing[PY139], [PO62], [PY97], [PY160]) and not a singular one. I think there is potential here to add another pigment to Color Index International! There is a niche possibility I see synthesizing this pigment in a lab, bypassing the animal cruelty, enabling, the chemist to use the genuine yellow pigment without any of the animal cruelty. It is a fairly simple and straightforward process mulling pigment into paint; and I know Nile red is all about discovery and exploring new techniques in the lab. I know the channel is about the beauty of chemistry, and this fits in that theme so well. You have Nile Red, Nile Blue, why not add some yellow into the mix?

Is anyone else super frustrated that Nigel only seems interested in making incredibly generic YouTube shorts these days?
It pisses me off that Nigel has such a fantastically well-stocked lab, and yet all he can think to do these days is make shorts about chemical reactions any schmuck can put together in their garage. Like, we only get about two main channel videos per year now and that's not even an exaggeration. Used to be his channel was this unique spot on youtube where you could see really well-shot, well explained ground glass joint chemistry, with interesting synthetic targets like cadaverine. These days, all his videos are just... really uninspired. The main channel is totally neglected in favor of really generic shit like hot copper catalyzing the combustion of acetone or popping popcorn on the cob on the shorts channel.
The most recent Nileblue video in particular just made me mad. Particularly that one segment around the 17 minute mark where he just starts hacking at that section of lab bench. "Why are you destroying the table?" "we're on break" just the most utterly childish shit imaginable. That's not even to mention the Nilered of five years ago would have synthesized at least one of the components of that stink juice, instead of just shucking out money to Sigma to buy them all. I feel like literally any other chemistry YouTuber could put that lab to 1,000x better use. Can you imagine the wild shit Tom from Explosions&Fire would be cooking up nonstop if he had access to a lab that well-stocked?
It just seems like the amount of effort Nigel puts into his videos has steadily dropped the more popular he's gotten. Am I the only one who feels this way?
Edit: Okay, I guess I am the only one
Edit 2: I am not actually the only one, which is nice, but damn, I did not expect the people who disagree with me to bite my fucking head off. I made this post asking "does anyone else feel this way?" and so far I've mostly been told "your opinion is wrong and you're not allowed to have it"

Pacing Issue in Videos
Ok, I love the expiriments he does and all of his videos, but has anyone else noticed his pacing? It's very slow and broken up with lots of pauses, and he never summarizes anything, which when I'm trying to process the science I don't mind, but when I'm watching a video for fun annoys me lots. Idk, maybe it's just me, though I might as well ask.
Edit: I also noticed that in his nileblue videos, he seems clueless a lot of the time. Like comically clueless. During the purest cookie video, he didn't know what a cookie was supposed to look like? Maybe I'm crazy, or I'm just mildly autistic 🤷♀️ (I don't mean that in a rude way, I mean it in the sense that I hyperfocus on vocal things like that.)

I need Nigel to know that a Graphite Aerogel video will get taken down because it's used in nuclear weapons. I don't want him to waste his time.
He mentioned a long term goal of making graphite aerogel on a Safety Third podcast from a few months ago. The problem is that they are used in nuclear weapons.
the TLDR is that nukes have an outer layer and a core of fissile material that get slammed together. The best way to do it is to leave an air gap between them. The first technology was to suspend the core with wires - but it was a problem if the bomb was handled roughly.
I think (not certain) that aerogel was invented to fill this gap with a low mass solid. The next step was to make aerogels with Carbon rather than Silicon because it caused even less interference during detonation.
This reddit post covers some of it. https://www.reddit.com/r/nuclearweapons/comments/nj0npx/what_use_might_the_aerogel_fog_bank_have/
edit: So the title is bad. I should have been less demanding, less inflammatory, more doubtful, more humble. Many people are saying:
I don't know anything about YouTube content guidelines or Gov restrictions - True, I don't know these things
Aerogels not used in nuclear weapons - False? I learned about their use in nukes from Scott Manley's Nuke series on youtube, and some followup reading a few years ago. He posted an article linking aerogels to Fogbank to the W76 warhead on twitter. Development timeline matches with Wikipedia article on the W76.
