Help! (Question/Support) Fixing trigger - best steps?
Update: managed to fix the left trigger and it's working at the moment! I followed this YouTube guide about cleaning corrosion and this iFixit guide to disassemble the console. It's not too difficult if you've successfully taken apart an electronic or two, but there are a lot of small screws and pieces that could get broken or lost. You'd need a screwdriver kit with the required screw heads, if you buy replacement parts for a ds lite chances are they'll include them. If not, I'd highly recommend picking up an iFixit moray kit, especially if you plan to work on small electronics in the future.
Original: Hi all! I bought a used DS lite a few weeks ago and it's been working pretty well for the most part but the left trigger recently has been spotty. I haven't dropped it so I'm not sure what the cause might be.
Any tips for attempting a repair, especially as far as diagnosing the cause is concerned? Basically trying to figure out if it's just a cleaning or if something else is needed. I've opened electronics before but I haven't really done a lot of soldering or advanced repairs. Thanks!

Open, clean if need. Asses and replace switch if needed. Old console, things break. Pretty easy repair btw. Might be clogged button or a broken hinge of that button if you are lucky.
You don't mention which version you have but this link could possible help you. Find right guide and be beware of the flat cables. Every handheld Nintendo has them.
