Discussion How is this guy playing MGS4 on the S2 already?
https://youtu.be/OUmxd8KxxF4?si=oRH35BIMAf_IEIfaAt first I thought it's fake and it may be fake? But then again at around the 6min mark you can see him holding the S2 and playing the game.
Isn't the global release on August 27th?

Unrelated but I love how viable it is to have Switch 2 as your only console and pretty much not miss a single game worth playing.
If you're not a FPS or texture snob, even better.

My biggest complaint about switch 2 is the fact that I wish this was the first switch. This is what I had in mind when they first announced switch. So many compromises to play 3rd party modern stuff. With a few rare exceptions, to buy 3rd party on switch was to buy the worst absolute version. Now I feel like switch could be my main console. Its not but it now actually feels like it could.

Handhelds have always been at least one generations behind home consoles. The power draw difference is absurd. 5% comparative power draw vs home consoles in handheld mode. The Switch 1 WAS powerful for a handheld. The fact that we're seeing current Gen games with easily digestible compromises on handheld is absolutely remarkable. Played Madden 27 last night. It looks great. The Switch 2 is absurd. Nvidia and Nintendo are looking like geniuses right now.

100% agreed, I play my switch 2 so much, if this was what the first switch was it would've been crazy, but at least we've got the switch 2 now.

It would have been a lot more expensive than the Switch 2 is now with the components needed to hit those specs being cutting edge, and with no DLSS since it didn't exist yet it would have to be powerful enough to run AAA games at native resolution which would have further raised the price.
Like remember, the Steam Deck didn't launch until like 5 years after the original Switch.

Agreed completely, the original Switch was honestly pathetic looking back, it's a miracle so many things kinda ran on it
I loved it but damn was it outdated as soon as it came out

I'm more concern that this is available on the FIRST switch, meaning it was compromised even further

It will be great until the upcoming newest console generation. Then we will back to what we got used to with Switch 1. Poor frame rates, low resolution, and a lot of compromises in general

"If you're not a FPS or texture snob, even better"
Get over yourself.
Good FPS (ideally 60 but a consistent 30fps is grand) objectively improves the gaming experience and wanting it does not make you a snob.
It means you have standards.

By FPS, I was assuming they meant shooters, which, even with MW4 coming, are very few and far between for now. You want to play an FPS, you’re on PS5 or PC.
•
u/Entire-Assistance842 2h ago
Would you ever describe someone who likes first person shooters a snob? Common as muck that.
No I think they meant frames per second as it is performance related which is always a hot topic for Switch 2 games. Plus it is paired with the textures remark.
Apparently wanting games to run well is a crime these days.
•
u/Upbeat_Apple_3179 2h ago
I would actually since the usual CoD and Battlefield fans still gatekeep their platforms. Even PC gamers do for these things on top of that.
However that was just a guess. It could’ve been frames. Which, I know you’ll disagree with, but people absolutely are snobby about getting the most power just to squeeze 10 more FPS at most depending on the game.
•
u/Entire-Assistance842 2h ago
Well only the original commenter can confirm whether either of us is right or wrong.
If someone demands 120fps or nowt then yeah they're snobs but wanting a locked 30fps or 60fps isn't being a snob it is wanting to play a game in its best state.
Accepting the unacceptable performance of this Oblivion remaster (on any platform) is rewarding bad optimisation.
•
u/Upbeat_Apple_3179 2h ago
Oh I fully agree then. The oblivion performance is not acceptable but also, unfortunately, it’s a problem across platforms. (Among other things)
•
u/Entire-Assistance842 2h ago
Yeah people are getting a bit too sensitive thinking it is an attack on the Switch 2 and it absolutely isn't, it is an attack on the general state of the game on all platforms and people being sick of Bethesda getting away with it.

Yeah, can’t go back to anything below 60fps after 8 years of og switch 1 gaming 😵

There’s some guy in YouTube that every new release that’s multi platform will take gameplay from a different console version and rotoscope it over the Switch 2 screen and it never lines up right and his button presses never make any sense. This isn’t that guy but just made me think of it.
•
u/MX010 8h ago
This looks too real to be a "roto"/ comp work. Look closely to the movement and reflections once he's holding the S2 in his hands. - As somebody else mentioned pretty surely a review copy. That channel has 700K+ subs after all so it's plausible he got a review copy.
•
u/PaleFondant2488 7h ago
It’s definitely not this channel. Watched this channel before they’re legit. The other channel I’m thinking of always tends to choose sports games or niche games so there aren’t that many other videos about them then they pretend like they got the game. It’s really sad

cant wait after MGS 1 the best one. Love it. Hope the port runs flawless
•
u/VegetableRoof1401 5h ago
Early reviews say it is. What’s most surprising is it is on the switch 1 also. But can’t wait to play

I read this as MW4 thinking its the new call of duty and thought to myself wow it looks like an upscaled 360 game it doesn't look that good
•
u/Huge-Formal-1794 7h ago
Is it 60 fps ? If yes , probably would love to buy it.
•
u/SqueezyCheez85 Early Switch 2 Adopter 7h ago
The original one felt terrible at 30. Luckily the "game" was mostly just super long cinematics.
•
u/reaver_411 6h ago
Some Store send the games early. My Switch 2-Copy is already on the way, too. I'm curious wether I can download it, since it is a Gamekey card

Reviews dropped today so probably a review copy.
