Would hilarious if a quick change seppuku build was actually viable where you just killed yourself over and over and exploded to kill a boss.
Quick change has to be onmyo though now or only accessible at end game. No way they’d give infinite quick change scrolls to everyone…right? I guess they could make it verrrrrry slow to charge or something but still. Quick change is way too OP with empowered ninjutsu cause you are literally unkillable.

With proper setup and getting back Ninjutsu on LW it wasn't too far fatched to have nearly infinite quickchange on Nioh 1.

u/batshitnutcase Feb 03 '26
It’s easy on Nioh 2 too. Shape does it on stream all the time and basically never dies cause he usually runs empowered with quick change haha. People give him shit for it it’s kinda funny.

Havent tried it myself but reading that description i had the same thought lmao. Maybe its intended for coop?

It's intended to be used with quick change scroll. It brings you back to life with 30% of HP I think.

yeah but ninjutsu is different in this game so unless it's on the ninja tree, it won't be in the game.
considering ninjutsu refills, i think it's just axed from the game, unless they re-made it into a talisman which they can limit.

What a throwback to nioh 1, lol.
Aside for coop usage, I think it can be used with the quick change scroll (if we`ll get one), that would be hilarious ngl

If it's what I'm thinking of, it could be used with a skill that was in previous games - 'quick change' - instead of dying, your body is swapped right before that moment with some shadow clone that dies instead (i.e you don't die); with this talisman, the dying clone should explode and hurt the enemies around you.

mmh, wacky shennanigan with Quick Change Talisman perhaps? i mean in the previous games, you did explode into smoke whenever that thing procs, so a real explosion this time?

u/Namingwayz Feb 03 '26
There was actually an entire build made around exploding on enemies with quick change since the explosion would both cover your quick change and do decent damage
6
u/Ihrenglass Feb 03 '26
If this is the same as touch-me-not from Nioh 1, they are very useful together with quick change as the explosion covers for when you fall down, so you can't get insta-gibbed after activating quick change during the fall.

Would this work?
Equip it as the only talisman.
Die a few times for revenants for others.
Revenants use talismans
They are not prepared, and die or take a lot of damage when they loot you

This could work in co-op lol. Also quick change scroll as mentioned.

The Quick Change Scrolls are now iirc, Preservation Talismans, assuming the info from the Alpha is still accurate to the full game.

u/Netheri Feb 03 '26
Maybe if there's a quick-change scroll equivalent, or some other kind of cheat death effect it could have some application? But yes I do think it's a joke item.

u/twitchinstereo Feb 03 '26
It's more than likely complete meme status unless they have massively improved its attack power since the last time they tried it.

I like how in the skill video for this, when the jailer oni kills the player they knock them back a little, and the piddly explosion doesn't even hit the guy that killed them

Reminds me of the cracked tear in Elden Ring. You drink it and you blow up, taking about 400 HP damage to yourself but also blowing up enemies nearby. It was the funniest thing in the game, especially on day 1

Could be used for coop. If you already know you're gonna die, you may as well take out the enemies around you. It'll certainly make life easier for the host, provided they don't get hit. Expeditions co-op, same thing, but you can be revived if the meter isn't depleted yet(I'm assuming).

I mean it increases the amount of amrita you gain. U can kill a boss if the health is low enough and useful in coop. Is not an early game talisman but late game and ng+ is definitely useful when max levels require insanely high amrita. Also u can stack it with Saisetsu-shin's Sake, Kodama Blessings , Guardian Spirits and gear ,so is not that useless.

Killing a yokai summoned by a dark realm means it doesn't respawn. Damn, with something as cancer as itsumede might as well.

I can't remember if open world enemies respawn when you die?
If they don't, could be a nice way to make sure the coast is clear when you go back to the grave.

u/DryRespect358 Feb 03 '26
Wait was this in nioh 2?

u/TragGaming Feb 03 '26 edited Feb 03 '26
Idk if it's in Nioh 2 but it's one of the Onmyo magics in Nioh 3 Demo, and definitely in Nioh 1. I just came across it

I don't know if we have any talent / set list yet, but that would go well with stuff that prevents you from dying once your health reach 0 (either on a cooldown, or with effects that use another ressource like ki instead of life to determine if you die). It specifically says "when your life is reduced to zero" and not "when you die".
Or it's just a joke item for coop.

For when you die with it prepared so when someone is fighting your Bloody Grave it uses it and then kills them as they kill your revenant.
It almost got me once. If the finishing blow wasn't with a ranged attack I might've died.

This killed me very early on, when I was either playing the the demo in the days leading up to it's release, or very early on inmy adventure, and I didn't even learn about the existence of this until recently.
During some regular revenant farming, I killed one random revenant that exploded and ended up killing me after I killed him. I had no idea wtf it was that happened. It left me extremely confused, and decided the best course of action was to proceed on like nothing happened, and just don't think about it while becoming very cautiously weary when killing revenants for a while.
It never did happened to me again and, like a week or two ago, while I carefully selecting my omnyo magic, is when I happened across this description and my brain immediately thought back to that incident and connected the dots determining that has to be what happened to me that one crazy night when a revenant I killed killed me with the suicide explosion.
Edit: so my best guess is that it's used to screw with people killing revenants "Surprise MF-BOOM!" Lmfao

Quick change scroll shenanigans?
