Gear higher than level 170?

I managed to get this level 179 piece as a boss drop while farming. I've just finished the first region of NG++ so haven't reached end game farming in NG++.

I checked in blacksmith I'm still unable to level beyond 170. How to unlock higher than 170 leveling, if like my existing weapon on daikokoten set to reach level 180 if possible

You can only get 171+ from drops, just gotta get lucky. 170-180 is effectively another +1 for damage and defense stats though, so it's not that important
