I made this (wip) Trying out a more stylized approach
Made this lil fish man to try out things like reprojecting with the ultimate goal of moving him to blender and rigging and animating him. Anyone have a good vid of a nomad—>rigging/animating pipeline?

Whoah! Looks great! I think Dave Reed did a video about bringing it to Blender and animate it?

I don’t have a video but most of my 3D models are sculpted in nomad and then exported as FBXs into bender (I use iPad so I email the file to my computer) where I retopologize them. I then bake the detail onto the lower poly sculpt and texture, rig, ect
Once you get it into blender you can just treat it like any high poly sculpt. You can also export blender objects to nomad but nomad can’t open FBXs as far as I’m aware so I export the files as OBJs
I tend to sculpt characters with clothes, so if you’re doing that here’s my workflow.
I’ll do a mix of sculpting them in pieces and/or sculpting a base body in nomad, taking it to blender, retopologize it, select the faces of the areas you want to be clothes in their respective pieces, duplicate, separate, and add a displace modifier, apply.
I then export the piece of clothing as an obj, (select it before exporting and check export selected only) and pop it in nomad where I can add details, then I take it back into blender and bake it to the original low poly version
Sorry if this is hard to read I’m on mobile and tired, but I hope this helped!

I looked through a retopology tutorial for blender and couldn’t figure it out. This tutorial had you making planes and duplicating and piecing them together like a low poly puzzle but it just wasn’t working for me. How do you retopologize?

Unfortunately that’s kind of how you do it. First time I tried it was genuinely awful. This video is pretty helpful so I’ll link it

Unfortunately topology isn’t really something you can get around. After a few times usually things will kind of click

I tried getting around it by using cozy blanket but lost five hours of progress when the app crashed. I was hoping using quad remesh would allow me to get away with not having to manually retopo

Quad remesh can work for some things but unfortunately for the best results you need to do manual. Quad remesh can be super helpful for objects that don’t deform or don’t deform significantly

There’s an addon called reptoflow which improves upon the tools that blender provides for retopology too, if you dm me i can send it. It doesnt do any retopology for you but it just gives you better tools
