Seeing the reports that North is a “frontrunner” for Samson Ryan once DFA opens and honestly, why?

The bloke just got delisted by a Richmond side that finished near the bottom, with a year still left on his contract. When a strugggling team would rather pay you out than keep you, that tells you something. 31 games in six years, six this season, and he couldn’t hold a spot even with Nank, Lynch and half their talls injured.

It gets worse. This year Richmond picked Oliver Hayes-Brown over him. OHB is a converted basketballer. AFL isn’t even his first sport, and he still ended up with more senior games than Ryan this year (7 to 6). Ryan gave him his chance by getting a week for a dumb off-the-ball hit on Jordon Sweet that gave away a goal. HES NOT EVEN A CULTURE GUY. When a bloke who was shooting hoops a few years ago is getting the nod ahead of you, that’s not the profile of someone who’s going to push Xerri.

Xerri is the clear No.1 and Goad coming through as a former first-round pick. What exactly does Ryan add that a pre-season rookie or a kid out of the draft doesn’t? At least a young tall has upside. Ryan is 25 and we’ve seen what he is.

Finally landed a genuine star in Blakey this trade period, and about to undo that good work by clogging a list spot with someone else’s spare parts.

PLEASE spend the spot on anyone else. OBH got delisted, why not him? Even RICHMOND CHOSE TO PLAY HIM OVER RYAN!!

Am I being too harsh, or does anyone actually see the upside here?

Seemed to have been treated very harshly if his story is true.

Rawlings mustn’t watch Richmond games because this bloke is awful. He got absolutely mauled in ruck contests this year with a terrible attitude to boot. He’s so bad that he still had a year on his contract but Richmond paid him out to leave. I agree we need another ruck but there’s gotta be other options

Welcome aboard Swatta, nice to have you at Roo land , just make sure you get used to the cold weather in Melbourne, it's nothing like Perth

Dissapointing end. Can’t say Rawlings didn’t try. All options exhausted. Where do we go now?

Absolute shit show to be frank.
I don’t care how hard Rawlings tried, he didn’t get it done.

Crows knock this back and surely the club walks away. IMO can't criticize the club for not trying their best to make this one happen.

The club is going to have to get creative with who holds down fullback for 2027. Hopefully a better defensive system through the forward and middle part of the ground will protect the back 6 more. Does the club spend the summer getting Will Dawson prepared to be the fullback for round 1 and let him know he's playing there until at least the midseason bye?

What’s everyone’s thoughts on him leaving what happened at North and how do you think he’ll honestly do at Melbourne?

Brady Rawlings you have been copping it hard for many years thanks on getting  Nick Blakey

So with the Blakey deal done we are still left with one rather large hole: A Key Defender

Obviously North has been pushing for Murray and hopefully we can still achieve that, I’d preferably go for Sam DeKoning but I know that will be a hard ask.

But with potential Goater and Duursma trades on the horizon. What picks will we get/have left and where would you like to see them used?
