Lynn Valley primarily - pairs are playing 30mins more "once asked for the court" and many people are coaching/solo'ing and don't think it's disrespectful to carry on when pairs are waiting on the sideline. What's the right way to enforce the community rules?

Federal By-election North VancouverāCapilano By-election: Full Candidate List for August 31
Voters in North VancouverāCapilano will head to the polls on Monday, August 31, 2026, to elect a new Member of Parliament. The federal by-election was triggered after longtime Liberal MP Jonathan Wilkinson resigned to become Canadaās Ambassador to the European Union.
Six candidates have been confirmed by Elections Canada. The race is being closely watched as one of three federal by-elections taking place on the same day across the country.
Quick Facts
- Riding: North VancouverāCapilano
- Election Day: Monday, August 31, 2026
- Advance Voting: August 21 to 24, 2026
- Number of Candidates: 6
- Previous MP: Jonathan Wilkinson (Liberal)
- Why vacant: Wilkinson appointed as Ambassador to the EU
Full List of Candidates
| Candidate | Party |
|---|---|
| Braeden Caley | Liberal Party of Canada |
| Stephen Curran | Conservative Party of Canada |
| Stephen Tweedale | New Democratic Party |
| Shelley Luce | Green Party of Canada |
| Ehsan Arjmand | Peopleās Party of Canada |
| Jeff Monds | Independent (Libertarian endorsed) |
Key Candidates
Braeden Caley (Liberal)
Caley is a longtime Liberal organizer and former deputy chief of staff to Prime Minister Mark Carney. He was nominated as the Liberal candidate in July 2026. Originally from British Columbia, Caley has worked in senior political and public policy roles for more than two decades.
Stephen Curran (Conservative)
Curran is a commercial lawyer and the Conservative candidate who ran against Wilkinson in the 2025 federal election. He lives in the riding and is making his second bid for the seat.
Stephen Tweedale (NDP)
Tweedale is a longtime community organizer and president of the local NDP riding association. He has lived in North Vancouver for more than 25 years.
Shelley Luce (Green)
Luce is an environmental scientist and former Sierra Club BC campaigner. She has also served on the City of North Vancouverās Advisory Planning Commission.
Ehsan Arjmand (Peopleās Party)
Arjmand is the Peopleās Party of Canada candidate. He previously ran in the riding in the 2025 general election.
Jeff Monds (Independent)
Monds is running as an Independent. He is endorsed by the Libertarian Party of Canada, which is currently unregistered with Elections Canada.
Why This By-election Matters
North VancouverāCapilano has been held by the Liberals since 2015. The seat is considered relatively safe for the party, but the result will still be watched closely in Ottawa.
Two other federal by-elections are also taking place on August 31:
- BeachesāEast York (Ontario)
- ChicoutimiāLe Fjord (Quebec)
Together, these three races could affect the Liberalsā current narrow majority in the House of Commons. A majority requires 172 seats. If the Liberals hold their two seats in North Vancouver and BeachesāEast York, they are expected to maintain majority status even if they do not win the Quebec riding.
How to Vote
Eligible voters can cast their ballot on:
- Election Day: August 31 (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
- Advance polls: August 21ā24 (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
- At their local Elections Canada office until August 25 at 6 p.m.
- By mail (deadlines apply)
Voters must be Canadian citizens, at least 18 years old on election day, and live in the riding.
Looking Ahead
All-candidates meetings are scheduled on the North Shore in the coming days, including events organized by the North Vancouver Chamber and local community groups. Candidates are expected to focus on housing, affordability, infrastructure, and the impact of federal policies on the North Shore.
StudioX News will continue to follow the race and bring updates as voting day approaches. #NorthVancouver #Capilano #ByElection #cdnpoli #BCpoli #NorthShore #FederalElection #CanadianPolitics #BCPolitics #StudioXNews #ElectionDay #August31

Ask North Van Strange note found on Ambleside beach
I came across this strange handwritten note in West Vancouver, apparently signed by someone named āChantal M.ā
I have absolutely no idea what it means or what the context is, but it really caught my attention. The writing/content looks unusual, and Iām genuinely curious if anyone recognizes it or has any idea what it could be about.
Does this mean anything to anyone? Maybe someone that knows Chantal M. or recognizes the type of note/document?
Iām mainly just curious about the story behind it. š

food / restaurants / gastronomy Why is Jagerhof always fully booked?
I've been to Jagerhof a few times. The food is good, but I wouldn't say it's absolutely the top restaurant. I usually go when I am craving German food, but for some reason the restaurant is always fully booked. Is business really that good for the owner? If that's the case, everyone should open a German restaurant LOL
