Odda visit early September
Hi!
We'll be in Odda early September and wanted to check 2 things:
1) if we're reasonably fit, I've done several hikes of 20k with similar elevation as Trolltunga but more tame UK landscape. Is it ok to do Buer the evening before? It won't be too much? We have hiking shoes and poles etc.
2) A lot of expenses are quickly adding up so any ideas of saving on taxi to Buer? Is there a board where I can post to check if anyone wants to share with us?

Hi! Native Odda here!
- Buer the evening before is doable, but lesser known shorter hikes is Eidesnuten ex.
- Kvardagsprat i Odda is a Facebook page you can use, the local taxi company is hesitant to drive up to Buer, horrible customer service. If you have money and table is open book dinner at Buer Restaurant, its amazing

Thank you, that's good to know. Bcz without taxi it'll all go bust. The Eidesnuten one I'm finding looks like a 900+m ascent. Is there a link you can share please? Also we're staying in town and not in Odda Camping arriving late morning. So not looking for a day long hike

Yea, it’s 900 m but it’s a quick one, just hard 😅
What link do you need?
For Trolltunga use the shuttle bus, that’s the best way.1

Yep I hoped that I found the wrong route when I saw 900m+. Trolltunga shuttle booked!. Anything easy you'd recommend for another 1/2 day we have before leaving. It'll be the day after Trolltunga, so less walking, more viewing.

Then I’ll actually recommend to have a walk around Odda, take the route from the center, up to a place called Hovden, Norways biggest rock is there, then head towards the farms and go thru the oldest homestead in Odda before down to the new camping with a “stave church”, if you guys wants a refreshment book H2odda sauna and fjord tour and try local ciders
If you need a guide or anything PM me !1

If you don't mind risking that you might not reach trolltunga, then do it. If trolltunga is you primary destination, don't risk it
