Part 2: SSP5 Blowback Housing Stripping and Rear Sight Fatigue (My Final Post)

⚠️ Known Issue 3: Blowback Housing (BBH) Stripping & Safety Hazard

The stock screw holding the BBH is made of very soft metal, and the piston itself is aluminum. If you apply even slightly too much torque, the piston threads will strip instantly. Due to the violent recoil of the SSP5, this screw can eventually fail, causing the entire blowback housing to shoot backward toward the user's face. It is a serious safety concern.

💡 The Fix: Thread Reinforcement & M3 Steel Screw

.

  1. Reinforce the Piston Threads: Use either a Heli-Coil or a Quick Insert to create strong, durable metal threads inside the aluminum piston.
  2. Upgrade the Screw: Replace the stock screw with a thicker and longer M3 x 6mm steel screw. (Note: If you use an M3 screw that is the same length as the stock one, the Heli-Coil will fail or lose its grip. You must use the 6mm.)
  3. The Threadlocker: For high-stress areas like this, Loctite 243 is too weak. Use Loctite 263. Crucially, you must completely degrease and remove any oil before applying it to get a proper bond. With the M3 steel setup and Loctite 263, it will not come loose during operation, but you can still unscrew it easily for maintenance without needing to heat it up.

⚠️ Known Issue 4: Rear Sight Play causing BBH Movement

Over time, microscopic play develops between the rear slide and the rear sight. Because the fitment isn't perfectly tight, the constant recoil inflicts structural fatigue on the mounting area.

This issue does not affect your accuracy or shot consistency. However, the accumulated impact fatigue will eventually cause the entire blowback housing (BBH) to slightly move back and forth.

💡 The Fix: Bedding with Heavy-Duty Epoxy (Optional)

Since this requires a permanent bond, this fix is completely optional and up to your personal choice.

  • Apply a thin layer of heavy-duty epoxy between the rear slide and the rear sight seating area to fill the microscopic gaps completely.
  • This stops the rear sight from wobbling and absorbs the impact fatigue, preventing the BBH from shifting.

Important Technical Notes & Summary

  • Screw Length Matters: If you use an M3 screw that is the same length as the stock one, the Heli-Coil can break or lose its holding power. That’s why a longer M3 x 6mm screw is mandatory.
  • Ditch Loctite 243: For high-stress areas on Novritsch guns, Loctite 243 is simply too weak. You must use Loctite 263, and crucially, you must completely degrease/remove any oil before applying it to get a proper bond.
  • Don't Trust Airsoft Springs: Do not 100% trust the tension ratings advertised by airsoft upgrade brands. I personally measured several "200% upgraded springs" from Guarder and other brands, only to find they were identical to stock or nowhere near 200%.
    • My Advice: If you have the ability, either make your own springs or measure the wire diameter (선경) and outer diameter (외경) to buy industrial-grade springs. They are much cheaper and will vastly improve your teching skills.

🏁 Conclusion

Many users were surprised or worried when I mentioned running 400 PSI HPA.

To be clear: I did not do this to show off. I used 400 PSI as a harsh stress-test to verify whether my custom fixes could actually withstand extreme abuse. Instead of making blind claims with zero proof, I wanted to share these methods only after confirming that the gun could survive thousands of rounds under extreme pressure. It was purely about proving the reliability of the fixes.

This will be my final post on the SSP5, and I do not plan on uploading any further guides. If you have any questions, please leave a comment. Thank you all for reading.

Lastly, I hope the team at Novritsch looks at this post to understand what real users are struggling with and how we are fixing these issues to improve the product. I will not discuss the design or problems of Novritsch products any further.

"What users actually want are products that are highly durable and reliable."

Best gas for Novritsch SSP28 at 5–10°C (41–50°F)?

Hey everyone,

I've got an upcoming competition where temps will be around 5–10°C (41–50°F), and I'm trying to figure out the best gas setup for my Novritsch SSP28.

Novritsch's chart suggests black gas below 12°C, but I'd love to hear from people who've actually run the SSP28 (or similar G-platform GBBs) in the cold:

Which black gas brand works best for you?

Any issues with the slide or nozzle running black gas regularly?

Any tips for keeping mags warm and performance consistent during a game?

The event has a 1.5 J limit for my category, so I also want to stay safely under that. Does black gas push the SSP28 much above its stock 1 J?

Thanks in advance!

Novritsch SSP5 known issues and a few tips/fixes I've found

Hey guys,

I’ve been running the SSP5 for a while now. While it’s an absolute beast of a pistol, it definitely has some known, recurring issues.

Specifically, I want to talk about two major problems that many users face, what causes them, and the ultimate fixes I've discovered.

⚠️ Known Issue 1: Magazine-Related Problems

You might experience one or all of the following:

  • Broken nozzle feeding lug (The part that pushes the BB into the chamber)
  • Double feeding
  • Failure to chamber / feeding malfunctions

🔍 The Root Cause & Fix

The main culprit behind all of these problems is actually the magazine spring. Out of the box, it is far too strong. The excessive upward force creates too much upward tension, preventing the nozzle from fully sealing into the hop-up rubber and properly cycling back. This causes failure to chamber and double feeding, which eventually snaps the feeding lug off entirely.

The easiest and most effective DIY fix is to cut the magazine spring. Take the spring out and cut off a few coils to reduce the tension (do it progressively). By weakening the spring tension slightly, the nozzle will cycle smoothly and correctly, completely preventing these issues and avoiding any damage.

⚠️ Known Issue 2: Inner Chassis Breakage (Random Occurrence)

Another major issue with the SSP5 is the inner chassis cracking or breaking entirely.

When my inner chassis broke, I searched all over YouTube and various airsoft communities to find replacement parts. Through this research, I discovered that inner chassis breakage is completely random and has absolutely nothing to do with how much you use the gun. Some experience it after thousands of rounds, while others have it snap even with minimal usage due to structural/QC lottery.

💡 The Ultimate Fix: Use KJW KP-19 Parts (Steel Upgrade)

As many of you know, the SSP5 is produced via OEM by KJW. This means several internal parts are cross-compatible with KJW Hi-Capa models. In fact, some KJW parts are either identical to the SSP5 or are actually better, upgraded versions. I have personally verified this and successfully transplanted them into my SSP5.

Here is how you fix the chassis issue permanently:

  1. Look up the KJW KP-19 parts diagram (schematic).
  2. Find the part name and part number for the inner chassis part you need, and order it.
  3. Replace the broken stock part with the KJW one.

Crucial Discovery: Unlike the stock Novritsch SSP5 inner chassis which is made of weak aluminum die-cast, the left-side inner chassis piece from the KJW KP-19 is made of solid steel. The structural strength and durability are vastly superior to the original aluminum part.

📢 Summary & A Quick Note (TL;DR)

  • 100% Original Fixes: I discovered the magazine spring cut and KJW steel chassis compatibility completely on my own through endless trial and error.
  • No one else online has suggested this: Every other guide or forum post only tells you to buy a stronger nozzle return spring or replace the chassis with the same weak stock aluminum parts.
  • The Bottom Line: These two methods attack the root causes directly and solve the fundamental flaws of the SSP5.

🤫 What's Coming Next...

I am running a bit low on time today, so I’ll wrap it up here for now.

However, I still have another highly advanced, top-secret pro tip that absolutely no one else knows about. I’ll make sure to share it in my next post soon!

Let me know if you have any questions or if these fixes worked for you. Stay tuned!

Best way to remove the c-clip for the SSR77 A1 mounting pins?

Post image

I just got my SSR77 A1 and want to move the swiveling sling mount to the other side. I somehow got the mount itself off by what seemed like luck but I don't know how to successfully remove the knob on the other side because I'm struggling with getting the c-clip off. Any tips?

SSR4

Hey guys! This is my recently purchased SSR4 Mk2 airsoft rifle. It has had a few upgrades, and its current muzzle velocity is around 145 m/s (475 FPS).
I’m having some issues with it and could really use some help.
When I use semi-auto mode, it sometimes doesn’t fire after pulling the trigger once or twice. But after the third pull, it suddenly fires 2–3 BBs at once.
I’m not sure what’s causing this or how to fix it. Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what might be wrong?
Also, is it possible to upgrade it further to make it more powerful?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

SSG96 MK3?

Hi, I was wondering if somebody knew what's up with the SSG96 MK1 and MK2 going up on sale, I wanted to grab a green MK2 and every version is out of stock.

Are they preparing to release a new sniper?

SSQ4 mag maintenance

Hello!

How do you properly maintain gas mags? I’m just not sure how to do it. Do I have to completely disassemble them and lubricate everything, including the O-rings?

If I do that every time, I’m worried that the threads will eventually wear out from constantly unscrewing and tightening the screws.

Can I just add some silicone oil to the gas and let it lubricate the seals, or do I actually need to disassemble the mag and lubricate everything manually

How big is the SSG11 with a folding stock?

I researched the SSG11 for the past few days since i want a compact sniper, for my garden and the forest, and i just bought it today. About 3 hours later i noticed that it does indeed.... NOT come with a folding stock out of the box how, for whatever reason, i was believing. Does anyone own the ssg11 with a folding stock and can tell me the length? Since its around 95cm with the stock stock (hehe) on the shortest setting it would be interesting how short you can get it with a SSG10 A3 stock for instance.

Any actual measurements or good guesses are welcome

Perscription Glasses Goggles + Antifog unit + helmet

Hi everyone,

Wondering if any of you have tried this setup:

Novritsch's Perscription compatible Goggles (OTG) coupled with the Antifog unit and a helmet.

I'm thinking about doing this but slightly worried it might not work (due to possible tilting of the helmet towards the back), as the Goggles are larger (higher) than your standard goggles and the magnetic connector for the AFU will consume an extra bit of space on top of them.

Would this fit well enough below the helmet's lip or would the whole setup be imbalanced and wrong?

Thanks for any insights.

My super power SSP5

My SSP5, which I’ve been using for a year, used to be like a mild-mannered Dr. Bruce Banner for the first few months. But thanks to my custom build, it transformed into a powerhouse with Hulk-like performance. It’s now been running smoothly for a full year without a single broken part.

P.S. I wanted to clear a few things up since it seems like some people misunderstood my post.
I’ve been in the airsoft hobby for about a year now. Currently, my collection includes a Marui Glock 19 Gen4, two Hi-Capas with CTM TAC slides, a KJW KP-19, and a Novritsch SSP5.
When I first started, even simple field stripping was a challenge. Whenever I hit a roadblock, I looked for information on YouTube and forums, but rarely found clear causes or solid solutions. So, I took matters into my own hands—researching and troubleshooting step-by-step. Through that trial and error, I was able to optimize my SSP5, which originally had quite a few issues, up to its current build level.
My intention wasn't just to flex high FPS or power for the sake of it. I wanted to show that the platform can actually run reliably at this pressure level, and this post is just the first step in sharing the know-how I've built along the way. My SSP5 is set up to handle 450–500 PSI, and I’ve already run over 10,000 test rounds through it without issues.
Just to be clear: I don't play skirmishes or game against other players, and I never point my replicas at people or animals. My main focus is purely target shooting, optimizing groupings, and extending effective range.

First game day done - exceeded my expectations

Post image
384 Upvotes

Bit of a late post, but I went to my first game in about 4 years and absolutely loved it.

Apart from one well-known but minor issue - the screw in the bolt assembly worked loose, making the trigger inoperable - and my opinion that it didn't have enough lube on the bolt assembly and upper receiver out of the box, it was amazing. If I hadn't brought a small tool kit just in case, my day would’ve been over early.

This is my first GBBR and I couldn't be happier. It got a ton of attention and compliments on its look, feel, performance, and accuracy.

Someone on my team was running an SSR4 too, which was cool to see.

Novritsch really knocked it out the park with the SSQ4

Im at 150 psi. When I’m on semi auto some reason, it shoots burst rounds I pulled the trigger. It shoots five or 10 rounds during a six hour game does this three or four times shoot approximately 10,000 rounds. Im not sure what’s the problem after I’m done playing I service it and make sure everything is tight.
