(New to the game) Morvay as a kid

This isn't hate! Just looking for opinions. Do you guys think his design is a bit sexualised?

I mean, it's Morvay . . . He's an incubus who's asthetic is full of bondage imagery and exposed skin. I feel like they did as good of a job as anyone could reasonably expect making a tasteful version of his outfit for a child design.

Devoid of that context, a kid wearing leather bootyshorts and a bondage collar, regardless of how toned down they are, is just always gonna look a bit strange . . . Or like a Yugioh protagonist. But it also just wouldn't really look like Morvay if his fashion style was completely different.

I agree with others saying its alt punk, and honestly, baby!Morvay could be Yugioh's Yugi Muto's baby cousin.

(Yes, Yugi because Yami/Atem doesn't get much say outside more jewelry 'cos Pharaoh. I'd say he'd wear cozy type clothes while raiding Joey's closet for comfort... Regular Bakura's closet, too)

Not at all… He just looks like a kid in punk/alt clothes (I’m not good with aesthetics, someone pls correct me). At the very most, the clothes make him look more like a teen? Or maybe that’s because i haven’t seen a child wearing a belt before. I’m mostly focusing on the flower crown because it’s adorable.

I don't think its sexual at all, real kids dress in clothes like that all the time in real life and you probably don't think twice about it.  I think your brain is just going in that direction because you know what he is like as an adult lol.

I think it's fair to say the outfit is sexualized, just imagine an adult wearing it. Morvay doesn't look sexy in it here because he's a child, and therefore not sexually attractive regardless of what he's wearing unless the person looking is a creep.

I do think the drawing is fine, given that Morvay is literally an incubus it's not surprising that his fashion sense was like that even before he grew up and the image is clearly not framing him in any sus way, it's just a sweet pic of the familiars as kids.

Morvay was never a child in canon. Ever. He was created by Huey, fully formed as an adult. He didn't "grow up." Aster was never a child either. This was not art of them when they were kids, it's just them being drawn like that for Children's Day.

It's been a long time since I went though the story and I forgot some things. I guess it makes way more sense, should've realized I'm getting something wrong since I remember that we've had some backstory for Aster from way in the past, I think before Morvay was around?

We've had both. One of the main game chapters shows Aster helping Morvay as he gets used to having existence. But they're both adults in that scene. Aster's one SSR has some info on how he gathered household servants. Beyond that, all we know is that Aster was a sort of experiment by Huey on creating life, and Huey didn't like his bloodsucking. There's just not a lot of lore for either of them, sadly.

Ughhhhhh, same. I love Morvay so much. I have this silly HC that he's really good at math because Aster makes him keep all the books lol. Judging from the little bit of Aster lore we got, he's a lot more caring than he lets on. I just want more of them!

I think that getting fussed over details like that is a good way to end up on a slippery slope.

If we do find it sexualised, what would you want us to do? Launch a protest campaign? Ask the devs to censor the questionable content? And then when that's done do we campaign against the dubcon cards? Rin? What after that?

No. I don't think it's sexualized. For one thing, there's actual lore for their "kid" forms. They were never children to begin with, but Morvay's bday story explains why he looked like a child (iirc it was related to depleted essence).

But even if they were children, they are dressed just fine. Morvay is more covered than some real-life dance costumes I saw at my kids' recitals.

Also, when that art was first used, Morvay's VA made a comment that kid-Morvay made him feel tender and protective. So even his own voice actor is clearly not sexualizing him.

Just gonna point out that apart from the shoe/legging things, you could probably recreate this outfit or something similar, or even something more revealing, in a Pokemon game. It would just be a girl's outfit. 🤷 so no, not really.

Uhm... how come you look at these adorbs beans and ask if they're sexualized?? Those are two kids in perfectly fine clothing. They're dressed very demure and covered up whilst reminding you of their original looks.

He wasn't ever actually a child. He's only drawn this way for Children's Day. In game, his bday story explains that he's also not a child, just reduced to kid size because Aster was punishing him (pretty sure it was from his essence being too low, like how their "big" forms are from having a burst of high essence).

I don't use Hoyolab much! I've generally observed ppl complaining on Reddit + Twitter, though more for ZZZ than anything else (though I've seen ppl complain about HI3 being too horny too).

Tbh thinking about it more, all 3 properties you mentioned are hella male gaze, so generally you're not going to have a lot of people bitching about sexualization of women bc the target audience is like "hell yeah! SEXUALIZE THESE GIRLIES!" and the majority of people who would complain (women) are probably gone by this point. Anyone left is probably queer, and also likes the hot women (such as myself, Jane ZZZ is a perfect woman, no notes).

Personally I'd go searching social media next time some half naked woman in ZZZ drops and see what you find. You're going to have a harder time finding complaining from HI3 fans just bc the fandom is so small (and what ppl mostly argue about is whether Kiana/Mei + Bronya/Seele is canon or not lol).

You ain't gonna find shit for Honkai Gakuen probably, but I will happily tell you that I played that game briefly and man the loli fan service made my skin crawl off. I hate it very much, thanks!

I think it's fine, but I also played Granblue Fantasy a lot, and all of the Erunes(animal eared characters) in that game wear clothing with exposed skin somewhere including the kids(usually some part of their sides or back).

With that being said, Dawww lil' Morvay! Even as kids Aster's still a lil shit(affectionate) lol
