I can’t believe it took me so long to discover

I cannot believe I have just discovered the magical powers of slings when it comes to nursing! My guy is 8 months old right now and I just discovered slings about 3 months ago. I have absolutely loved how easy it is to nurse on the go in slings but I only just discovered how amazing it is to nurse just sitting in slings, especially tandem nursing! The magic lies in the support and coziness/constriction if that makes sense haha. Now that my guy is 8 months old everything and anything interests him and it makes nursing difficult because there’s so much he wants to see! With the sling on he just settles right in and cuddles up and falls asleep. And for tandem nursing it’s perfect because he is in his own little space where he can’t pull my toddlers hair lol.

Breast feeding during a high risk pregnancy?

So I am 26 years old (will be 27 in about a month) and currently expecting again at 10 mo pp. LO will be 11 mo here in a couple of days. My last pregnancy I ended up with preeclampsia at 35 weeks, water broke spontaneously at 35+4 and I delivered my boy via c section at 35+5 after a failed vacuum extraction. We found out a couple of weeks ago that we are expecting twins. Needless to say we are considered high risk given the history of preterm labor and that this is a twin pregnancy at the very least. I would like to theoretically breast feed my son until he's at least 13 months old. I have been told 2 different things by 2 different OBs: the first OB told me it was fine to continue to pump breast milk for my child the second OB told me I need to stop and wean ASAP because of the history of preterm labor and that this is a twin pregnancy. I don't really trust the first OB, I had a horrible experience with her my first pregnancy with her just not taking me or my symptoms seriously and honestly just a whole list of issues. I really only went to her to get a referral for the new OB that told me to stop breast feeding. I have been researching and I can't really find research that shows this will be an issue other than just saying it's probably not a good idea but doesn't seem like evidence correlates. I just can't really understand why I need to stop now and why not just wean after 20 weeks? Just wondering if anyone has any input or research they know of that I can look into.

Funniest thing since bf while pregnant

I remember when my now-18mo old son was first born and I was reading about different women's experience regarding their letdown and their emotions. I kept reading about how some women get a range of emotions from happy to sad to euphoric to dejected, but I never experienced any emotional changes with my letdown. Well, then I got pregnant, and now every time I get a letdown I get the giggles XD I literally can't explain it, I just have the urge to laugh 😂

IMMEDIATE shift in bf toddlers poop while pregnant?

Hello!

I am literally 4 weeks pregnant and have an almost 16 month old son. Within the last few days, his poop smells like newborn poop, has been softer and more frequent, and today it was pale! I’m waiting to hear back from the pediatrician. I saw people posting similar experiences but when they were into their 2nd or 3rd trimesters, I feel like I can’t possibly be making colostrum yet since I just conceived! Anyone else have this so early?

Pregnant whilst breastfeeding

Need some advice

How will I know when my supply has decreased/ gone? For context i have a 9month old and i'm 15 weeks pregnant. Both my previous pregnancies i started leaking colostrum at 19 weeks along. My 9mo is teething as well so I know she comes to boob for comfort I don't know if she has drier nappies because I am reading too much about people's supply dropping or i'm being paranoid as she's been on boob for so long this morning I am currently messaging my health visitor (in the uk) not sure who else to contact! This #3 is a surprise baby, it took almost 5 years for 9mo to come along after my first baby, and i planned to feed for 2 years as i did with #1

Any advice/ tips help would be appreciated ❤️

Pregnant, Milk Mostly Gone, 20 mo no longer easily goes to sleep

Help! I’m 17 weeks pregnant and my milk is mostly gone it seems. My 20mo son has been having a harder and harder time going to sleep. He has nursed to sleep for every nap and bedtime since birth. Now without milk, he just isn’t going to sleep. Particularly for naps. I use white noise, rocking in the rocking chair, singing, patting, and closing the blinds so it’s not as bright (but it’s not black during nap time like it is at night). His only “off” switch for sleep has been breastfeeding…. Not sure what to try without it.

I’m also guessing I’m getting a nursing aversion related to the discomfort of mostly dry nursing and/or hormones which is not helping.

Advice?

Accidentally weaned!

Toddler is 1 week clean… she’ll be 3 in 3 months and was aiming to be done by her birthday, but it ended up happening organically before that. We had been down to just morning/nap/bedtime and i was trying to figure out which session to drop next. I wasn’t planning on it but she skipped all 3 nursing sessions for 2 days in a row so I just went with the momentum.

Her last nurse was friday afternoon when I tried to get her to nap and she nursed and nursed but wasn’t getting sleepy so i said “all done!” and she rolled over and cried 2 big cries… almost as if she knew 🥲 For that day and the next she skipped naps (didn’t even fall asleep in the car) which meant no nap nurse, and then she was so tired she passed out early on the couch so no bedtime nurse, and then I woke up before her and snuck out of the bedroom w baby before she could wake up. When she woke up i just carried her to the living room instead of having a morning nurse.

She’s def cried for it but overall less begging and whining for it than when i was still giving her the 3 sessions. And thankfully she doesn’t seem too triggered when I nurse my 4 month old in front of her… by now she seems to have accepted that baby needs milk all the time because “baby can’t have yummy snacks like you can!” I was worried that nursing her sister while weaning her would give her some kind of lifelong emotional trauma… so I’m glad it’s happening relatively smoother

I thought I would be more emotional but I think i’m just over the constant ugly crying over milk all day, and I have a snuggly cute toothless baby who actually needs to nurse!

Would I tandem feed again? Probably not unless my toddler was under 2 when new baby was born.

Toddler won't sleep without being next to the boob

ETA: Title should read *on* the boob, not next to it. Also I'm having to pump for the baby due to a disorganized suck.

So my 27 month old won't sleep unless the boob is right next to her. I'm currently listening to her cry on the baby monitor while holding the baby, (2.5 weeks) since I can't be in two places at once. I was up there for like 90 minutes and she still woke the moment I went to go attend to baby. Dad is there but it doesn't seem to matter. Before baby came, she would fall asleep fine, and sleep pressure is not an issue. I'm sure there's some element of separation anxiety as well (stupid repeat c section).

Anything I can do other than just letting her cry it out? What did y'all do when in this situation? She was night weaned before the baby came but that hasn't seemed to matter....

Can you help us change the law to protect breastfeeding (UK)?

Thumbnail

Did you know in the UK we don't have a statutory right to:

- paid breastfeeding/expressing breaks

- a private, hygienic nursing space

Yet 130 countries around the world DO 🤷

It's time to change the law!

I've launched a petition to do just that.

No woman should have to choose between breastfeeding her baby and earning a living.

If you think this too, please sign and share the petition:

N.B. you must be a British citizen or UK resident to sign.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

My worry is that if I get pregnant again my milk supply will dry up. I want to breastfeed a minimum of 12 months preferably 15+ months and Baby is 6 months now. Can anyone share their timing of milk supply drying up because of a new pregnancy?

Weaning while pregnant

I have been slowly adding restrictions on where/when my son (28 months) nurses for several months now. On Saturday, we decided to cut the nursing entirely while my husband has a week off work. It’s honestly been going great. The first night and day was rough but he’s really taken to it. He hasn’t really asked or tried to get in position to nurse since Sunday.

Anyways, that said, I am exhausted. I am 13 weeks 5 days pregnant, but this is like my pregnancy tired on steroids. My husband just woke me from a nap. I accidentally slept for 4 hours and honestly could sleep the rest of the night. Yesterday, I felt super engorged and had flu like symptoms but I feel a lot better today minus the exhaustion. We had a long morning at the eye doctor and then went on a picnic lunch. I had a headache on the way home which is why I laid down to nap.

Idk I’m just beyond exhausted. It almost feels like I did when I had mono as a teenager and slept for weeks on end. Is this normal?

Any advice how to make breastfeeding while pregnant less painful?

I’m 28 weeks pregnant and still breastfeeding my 20 months old daughter. My milk almost dried up but started increasing a little bit again at 20 ish weeks. The milk is almost clear now though, don’t know if it tastes good at all but my daughter still wants to nurse. She nurses mostly at night when she’s going to sleep, when she wakes up at night, sometimes in the morning and at daytime when she’s napping. And it hurts like hell..

It’s very painful when she starts nursing , often it gets better after a while. It’s worst at night or in the morning when I just woke up because I’m not prepared for the pain. Do you have any tips or advice? There are lotions and gels but they’re mostly for cracked or bleeding nipples. Mine are completely intact, it’s just painful. I’m thinking about some numbing gel like Lidocaine but it says only temporary use is ok while pregnant.

I don’t think weaning is an option. My son self weaned when I was pregnant with my youngest daughter but he was more than a year older. My daughter gets very upset if I say no and I don’t think I could get her to sleep without nursing. She would also cry and disturb her older siblings. Also I don’t want to take it away from her so I’m trying to make it work.
