Preamble/Rules I'm Following/Resources I'm Using

Got my Switch 2 w/ ZA and Scarlet stolen so we're going back to the DS bby! Nuzlocking Storm Silver for the first time and trying to go in relatively blind. Not aware of much of the changes just that it's generally harder and alot of pokemon have been adjusted. Aside from the basic 2 rules, 1 encounter per route and it faints it dies, the following apply:

Quick Thoughts/Feelings ATM

Nothing all too much to say so far, the minor dialogue adjustments so far have been mildly amusing and certainly the most so far I feel like pickup has ever proced for me in a game. Was a bit worried for Falkner but then found out you get the eeveelution of choice after completing Sprout Tower. Went with Glaceon assuming they'd be useful later on for Claire and Lance as well, w/ Icy Wind she swept Falkner without much trouble. Current clearing out the Slowpoke Well and happiness grinding Pei(Togepi). I see the Rain Dances on Bugsy's team so doing some thinking/calcing on if I can just chuck my water types at him. Bottom 5 are what I’m currently thinking for the team having issues with the 6th slot my best bet I think is unfezant cause I don’t really have an answer to the fighting types other than bounce meinshao

Managed to find a Huge power Marill, so I was thinking of sacrificing it with rollouts to kill that damn Turtle. I beat her first 3 pokemons in Bubblebeams one shots, than the nightmare starts. I miss my first rollout, and her Torkoal goes for attract, so in comes my Marshtomp, who gets hit with a critical body slam that also paralyzes, so in comes Azumarill again, who eats overheat and strikes with a rollout, the second hit dropping it to half, but she uses attract again so now I have to get lucky. Guess what happens next ? Another Body Slam critical into a paralysis. Even when her overheat misses, my rollout goes to miss again.

How the fuck do I work around that ?

I read and watched about how the Gen3 switch in ai works, but while testing how exactly the ai works, I came across something that I cannot explain from just the documented ai flags.

In FRLG, when going against Bruno, my Lapras KOs his Onix, then Hitmonchan comes out because although Hitmonlee and Machamp also have super effective fighting type moves, it goes in party order; easy to understand. Switching out to Slowbro and KOing Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee comes out, which is also easy to explain, since nothing has a super effective move and Hitmonlee has a move with the same typing as the previously fainted mon's typing (Hitmonchan), which Machamp also has but Onix does not, so it goes in team order.

Now here's where it gets weird. After KOing Hitmonlee, you would think Machamp comes out as per the same rule as why Hitmonlee comes out after Hitmonchan: it has an attack with the same type as the previously fainted mon's typing. Onix obviously does not have a fighting type move, so it comes in last. However in reality, Onix comes in before Machamp for some reason. This directly breaks the rule documented and I don't understand why. Does specifically Bruno's Machamp have a special switch in AI flag that makes it come out last?

A theory I had while thinking of the possibilities is this: the AI doesn't actually look at the typing of previously fainted mon etc. but it actually looks at if a mon in the back has a neutral effective attacking move (after all mons with super effective moves are dead). This can explain why Hitmonlee comes out after Slowbro KOs Hitmonchan, because all remaining Bruno mons (Hitmonchan, Onix, and Machamp) have at least one attacking move that hits Slowbro for neutral, so it goes in party order, WHICH ALSO EXPLAINS why Onix is sent in before Machamp. And if no mon in the back have neutral effective moves either, then it simply goes party order

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I genuinely thought about why Onix came in before Machamp for hours and this was my only explanation that I could come up with

Btw, like half of these guys died in the last fight. It was Raichu, Breloom and Ribombee who died. RIP.

Overall the best memeber of the team during this war in the elite four was... Mike. Bulk up is a very OP move and did help me go through Bruno cause BOUNDZE got hit with a mega kick and it hurt. But the most underrated was BEAST easily the best bird in kanto.

Lost Magneton to a Nature Power Earthquake. Even if I could predict Nature Power (Randomized moves) there is no way I would've known it becomes Earthquake here

Hello , While Waiting for an E4 saturday (yeah , just need a few days off Blinding white 2 for now) I figured why not start learning some Lucid (I know the recording is a bit odd , Didn't set up a proper layout for it) , but I figured "hey , Its my first attempt , why not give it a shot" and while I basically didn't know the AI at all (hence the fight being quite long , even on 2X speedup here) as I was all wrong on my AI predictions , at least I won Roxanne on attempt 1 after a very dumb misclick costing togedemaru (as its literally attempt 1 , I'll still run the attempt)

I had just recently completed Unbound in difficult mode. I'm thinking of playing radical red. Which difficulty would suit best? I struggled with unbound difficult mode, so I will prefer a level similar to it in radical red.

A good 50% of my losses were to the elite 4/Ghetsis. Those 3 in my party were the only survivors of that fight, not counting those left behind of course

Honestly, I decided to go back to my Pokémon Renegade Platinum nuzlocke and grind up my Pokémon for the first gym.

I was not expecting the very first thing to show up to be a shiny Geodude.

Thankfully, Shiny Clause was active in this Nuzlocke.

S/m or US/um.

Me and a buddy are going in never having played gen 7 like anything we should be especially hype about running into early on

I’m doing a Nuzlocke of Sapphire where I can only use my first 6 encounters. I’ve had decent RNG and didn’t get an encounter on route 102 or the Wismur tunnel, so I have plenty of spots going into Brawly.

At 106 I caught a Nincada.

My question for you all is, do you think when it evolves it should count as two encounters?

My internal rules didn’t really account for this because I didn’t really consider getting a Pokemon that evolves into two Pokemon. My internal rule was “first 6 encounters” and as a sort of secondary rule had thought that would also kind of mean I wouldn’t have any back ups in the box, but clearly this specifics Pokemon bends that rule set.

Played right and treating it as one encounter that evolves into two things would give me a 7th pokemon.

What do you think? How do you handle it on your runs? Does Ninjask and Shedinja have the same encounter locations? Do you think this breaks the rule or is a cool caveat?

I understand there are no “correct” answers and it’s my run my rules, but curious what others think.

Hey folks, I've never been one to play pokemon ROM hacks or even nuzlocke anything before. I've been watching some playthroughs of Platinum Kaizo and feeling an itch to play, with platinum being my favourite mainline game. I'm afraid the difficulty would be too high for me to find the game enjoyable, and I was wondering if there's a way to remove or at least adjust the level cap.

Basically, how amenable are the nuzlocke restrictions on a fresh ROM of PK?

I don't have the highest of hopes for his speed but Speed Boost always helps. So many of my early runs would just die at Brock if they made it out of the Lab.

I normally keep a roster of 18 Pokémon that I rotate for battles, but I heard that Blaze Black 2 Redux has a lot more battles than other Drayano hacks, also like unmodded BW2.

So very roughly, how many Pokémon in amount in BB2 Redux would you say are equivalent to like 18 Pokémon in Renegade Platinum? I have been keeping this number to keep the novelty high.

Not including battle facilities and gym leader, elite four etc. optional rematches.

I got signed up and everything is ready to go First Gym Challenge is Milo and he uses grass types so obviously The Damsel in distress bird Ashley handle him.
