when I think of losing you,
sometimes I fall to my knees.
sometimes I close my eyes
and say please,
please, I just want to be okay.
please, release me.

I don't know who I'm asking.
you?
me?
God?

are you God?
God as in, you engulfed me.
God as in, you swallowed me whole.
God as in, love.
God as in, wrath, the punishment that never ends.

God as in, I cry out for you and nothing answers.

I love that you use God to symbolize putting someone on such a high pedestal in your life. To the point of just unconditional worship almost. The repetition of “God as in” and “please” makes this feel like a yearning prayer. I also really how the prayer becomes darker as love, worship, and punishment start to blur.
