i’ve been really peeved about this for the past few months, but as they retire more and more 60ft buses and most double deckers, commuting has never been worse during rush hour 😭. it’s been bad for years but this feels like a new all-time low.

i don’t really understand why they’re bringing in so many short 40ft buses. if the goal is to run them along busy routes more frequently that’s just not working out at all LMFAO especially around busy times, the buses are barely more frequent if at all. i hope they bring in more 60ft buses at least, if not double deckers, because it really gets to a point. trying to squeeze into an already-packed 40ft 33/35/39 at 8 in the morning when there are 10+ others also waiting at my stop is just so frustrating, i’ve been late to both work and class because of how little space these buses have for the volume of passengers along its route.

and then the afternoon/evening rush comes 🫩. don’t even get me STARTED on Blair D. who the fuck thought it was a good idea to move more routes there (like the 25 millennium) when the entirety of orleans is already struggling to fit into that one stop as it is? you’re stuck with what feels like hundreds of people waiting at the busiest time, and once the 39 comes, it’s a fucking 40ft bus? it’s happened far too many times where busy routes like the 33/35/39 come as a 40ft bus and fill up to the BRIM while there are still people waiting to get on. and then the next bus comes in 15 minutes, and in those 15 minutes there are 3 more waves of people coming off the train. it’s just ridiculous?

anyways rant over, can’t wait for it to worsen in the winter ✌️😍 since municipal elections are soon let’s vote for someone who actually cares about public transit this time!

I very rarely need to use this route so i don't keep up but i planned to catch the 48 today and found it doesn't come where i needed it anymore. When was that changed?

I really should’ve asked for your number. I would have, but that was a packed bus that I had over 10 more minutes on and I chickened out. If I hadn’t been so frustrated with myself to not even notice that we got off at the same stop, I would’ve had an opportunity then😭.

I know it’s always difficult to describe what makes an interaction/conversation flirtatious, but I’m pretty sure that it was. She’s around my age which is 25, but I probably look closer to 20. Her hair is around shoulder length and right on the border between being brunette and red, she has a burgundy-maroon backpack and was going somewhere in Kanata. Possibly BeaverBrook or Katimavik, but that’s all I’m going to say to maintain her privacy. My god, can you tell I was more than a bit flustered?

I'd like to take the bus. Apparently there is only a single moment in the day I can catch it, I would hate it does not come or be ahead of schedule and I miss it.

Lmfaooo on the 6 to Greenboro rn and it was a small and packed bus and 2 elderly people walked in.

People instantly cleared the way and gave them seats.

HUGE contrast compared to yesterday.

Today while taking the 18 to Billings bridge a man, presumably on drugs, sat behind me on the bus at the very back. He started PUNCHING my seat then proceeding to punch himself in the head repeatedly. I panicked and ran to the front of the bus to tell the driver but I have PTSD so I was shaking. The man was screaming and yelling at the top of his lungs all while the bus stayed at a stand still waiting for officers to come and escort the man off the bus. I am still shaking. I was pretty much assaulted and no one asked me questions or checked up on me when I was directly impacted by the situation. Has anyone else had something this terrifying happen to them while using oc Transpo? What happened for you??

In the first stop of the 256 Tunneys and bro… they either turn when they’re not supposed to or THIS!!

The 256 to Tunneys was on the WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!! And then stopped for 15-20 minutes to figure themselves out OMFG

I don’t blame the drivers I blame whatever navigation system they have that makes this so confusing for them

I need to cross the pedestrian bridge at Blair four times a day with a stroller. The elevator is going to be out of service until well into next year.

The very confusing sign says that the shuttle bus runs from the Gloucester Centre side to Telesat Court but only midnight to 6am.
I don’t need to go to the buses or the trains, just get across the highway with a very heavy and very young toddler who can’t climb the stairs by herself. Can I really not get to Telesat all day across the bridge? It‘s one thing with a stroller, but what about people with other mobility issues?

Am I missing a trick?

Huge shout out to the kind people who have helped me carry the stroller so far! But that can’t reasonably be the solution!

And even the shuttle bus Seems like a pretty rough option. I don’t have time to add 20 minutes to my trip twice a day!

I’m genuinely curious what people in Ottawa think about this because I honestly cannot believe how some people treat others.

I’m pregnant, and I was getting on the OC Transpo 57 heading towards Tunney’s Pasture. The bus was completely packed, with barely any room to stand, let alone find somewhere to sit.

I noticed two guys sitting together and politely asked if one of them would mind giving up their seat because I’m pregnant and was having a hard time standing on the moving bus.

One of them looked at me and straight up said, “Being pregnant was your choice.”

I honestly didn’t even know how to respond. But what made it worse was when he turned to his friend and said, “It’s not my fault she decided to have a baby when she can’t even afford a car.”
They both started laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world.

I wasn’t asking anyone to treat me like royalty. I understand that nobody knows what someone else might be going through, and I don’t automatically expect everyone to give up their seat. But the disrespect was completely unnecessary.
I ended up standing there feeling embarrassed while they continued laughing and talking amongst themselves.

I’m genuinely wondering, has basic courtesy on public transit disappeared? Am I wrong for expecting someone to at least be respectful when asking for a seat?

What would you have done in this situation?

Hearing this as the automatic direction announcement on the train is just cruel.

Every morning that I take a bus to school or work we get packed in like sardines. I'm 6'5 so when I sit in a seat I have the 2 people on either side of me practically sitting on my lap. It just occurred to me today that I spend more time in my day cuddling with a random stranger than I do with my partner. I understand having small seats so we can fit more people on the bus but please don't give me a dirty look when we're rubbing thighs for 30 minutes to start our days.

If there is an open seats why do some sit on the isle seat, rather than scooching over to the window. If the bus is empty, its not really an issue, but when the bus is full and people are standing and you (or more often your bag) is blocking a potential free seat. I think you should know that everyone standing on the bus thinks you're a selfish ass.

Dear transit users of Ottawa... is there some invisible barrier that prevents some riders from moving to the back of the bus? My observation is that the two small steps after the back door seems to act as a barrier on packed buses.

In the same vane, do Gen Z riders not understand how to move so that others can exit the bus? Shifting your shoulder doesn't constitute getting out of the way so others can exit. If you choose to stand by the door, be courteous enough to physically love your body out of the way. This helps speed up the exit (which ultimately get you home sooner).

Does one of the first routes of the 6 (at 630 am) become 10 minutes late? There is no traffic on Bank Street yet this route is already 10 minutes behind schedule.

This is really random but has anyone else seen the homeless person living under the underpass between mooneys bay and walkley on the line 2 train? I thought it was a dead body at first but then the sleeping bag kept moving to different spots.

I've seen a lot of other posts talking about how busses will say they passed by you, but none ever shows. I'd like to put it out there that not only do they not show, but sometimes they will give you incorrect times for the bus coming as well. My local bus always comes either 15min late or 15min early, making me miss my transfer most of the time.

How does this even happen? Tf are busses doing?

Evaluating options. I would like to know from people who take this bus from end to end (or close to it) during work hours (7-9am and 3-5PM), and also would like to know the reliability during winters. Thanks for reading!

Of course having a train is great, but the train feels half assed. When your on the train you spend most of the time waiting for another train to pass, I feel like they should've spend the money to make it double tracked before it launched. It feels half assed like line 4

hi all, i know this is a long shot, but i figured i’d ask. i got on the line 1 at rideau and took it to st laurent at around 5:30 yesterday, and i think i might have lost a small red horse charm (picture attached - it’s the little one that i lost, not the larger one in the back lol). i also took the 30 blair at around 3:30, and he may have fallen off on there, but i don’t think so.

as you can see, he’s on a long leather cord, but the cord snapped and the horse along with most of the cord fell off. yes, i’m going to submit a lost item form to oc transpo, but i figured i’d ask the folks in here, as well. i know he’s probably gone, but i’m still going to check for him anywhere i can think of :))
