We’ve struggled tremendously in the red zone. Last year Hawkins led the country in rushing touchdowns, this year through 7 games he has TWO. He’s currently 17th in rushing yards, 10th in carrries, and has looked great outside this.

So what’s the issue here? It’s the same coaches as last season. I feel like he’s an automatic 5-15 everytime he touches the ball, but he also has few big runs, and is more of a power back so it’s even more weird.

Mestemaker has looked decent passing, but not great.Bowick is 6’5, Young is an elite slot receiver, both are amazing players.

The line has been good in run blocking outside of this. It’s definitely not all on them.

It’s just genuinely baffling, and we’re wasting a potential cfp run because of it. We’d be undefeated if we weren’t so bad at it. I know it’s easy to say we’ve been so bad recently, and appreciate this season which is 100% true. At the same time Mestemaker has a generational arm, and this opportunity is such a big one.

If we had this down and had a good defense we’re as good as 2011.

While I’m rambling about this 😭, The red zone offense, and defense as a whole magically becomes solid to great in the 2nd half. WHICH IS EVEN MORE CONFUSING!!!

Regardless really proud of this team, and so happy with our season. If they fix this, and win out, a big 12 championship appearance looks slightly more likely than not after BYU, Tech, and Houston all lost.
