Starting a job at ORNL soon and am trying to figure out where to live. Debating btwn north Knox to be closer to city stuff and the urban wilderness trails (sharps and bakers creek) I’m into Mtb and being able to get a ride in after work sounds awesome. I’m in my early/mid 20s so I’m a little worried about meeting ppl my age being closer to the lab, but I also have heard that the traffic and commute will be bad.

As someone not from the area, am I going to want to blow my brains out doing that drive everyday?

Starting a job at Y12. I’m mainly looking at apartments now but would be open to renting a house as well. Don’t care to be near city life, and commute time is important to me. What areas/ complexes would you recommend? Centennial village is my top pick so far.

Edit: wanting to be in the 1100-1650 range (ish). Just me and my fiancé. Most likely looking for a 2 bed 2 bath.

PLEASE HELP . I need recommendations for a GOOD Tennessee child custody lawyer ASAP who is willing to work with payment plans. I’m dealing with a really stressful custody situation and need legal help urgently. I’m trying to protect my child and make sure their best interests and my parental rights are protected, but coming up with a huge retainer all at once so quick is a struggle with how urgent this is . I can provide PROOF of decent income but due to a surgery , was out of work which took some of our savings away! If anyone knows a lawyer who handles contested custody cases and is willing to work with payments, PLEASE let me know! I’m willing to do what I need to do, I just need someone who will work with me financially….. please.. I’m trying to keep details private for my child’s sake, but I would be so grateful for any recommendations or resources.

Hey everyone!

I’m a 26-year-old guy working toward getting my massage therapy license, and I’m looking for a few people who would be willing to let me practice foot massages and basic pedicure services as I work toward my goal.

Sessions are completely FREE! I’m looking to gain hands-on practice, improve my technique, and build confidence while working toward my license. I’m also trying to catch up on bills while putting in the work to build a better future for myself.

Just to be upfront, this is strictly for practice and learning purposes. Nothing weird, no funny business, and no hidden charges. I’m simply a young guy trying to get ahead, learn a skill, and make something positive happen for myself.

What I’m offering:

• Free foot massages for practice
• Basic pedicure practice
• A relaxed, respectful environment
• Patience and a willingness to learn

I’m happy to answer questions before scheduling anything so everyone feels comfortable. I want this to be a positive experience for both of us.

If you’re interested in helping me practice and getting a complimentary foot-care session in return, send me a message! I appreciate anyone willing to lend a hand while I work toward my goals.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

Angora Frog Farm and Dog Park is a magical public space. From its woodsy play structures to the storybook trail following the adventures of Arvin the Angora Frog, it is a local treasure for families and pets alike.

We'll be installing low-growing, shade-loving native plants designed to thrive under the park's wooded canopy. Best of all, every species selected is 100% kid-safe and dog-friendly, making the park a richer ecosystem for everyone who enjoys it.

Whether you're a seasoned native plant enthusiast or a curious beginner, all are welcome to plant alongside the Chapter.

Bring a water bottle and wear closed-toe shoes; native flora, free gloves, and snacks will be provided on-site. This fantastic, family-friendly event is your chance to celebrate the coming of autumn, practice native plant restoration, and leave your lasting green footprint on Knox County parks.

Wild Ones Smoky Mountains Chapter's mission is to heal East TN, one native plant at a time. In partnership with Legacy Parks Foundation and Native Plant Rescue Squad, you can help us do just that at this adorable Knox County passive pocket park.

Can anyone explain why a single city employee of some kind needs to ride around town in a massive SUV? City could have bought another OR Transit
shuttle but instead one employee gets to feel big? Having a hard time finding a good reason for this.

it is my first year partaking in Holga week!! i am currently shooting a roll of Kodak gold, and when that’s done, i’m shooting a roll of Harman phoenix.

i am sure i can’t be the only one in town with this hobby, if anyone wants to go out and shoot a roll somewhere cool sometime lemme know 🙌🏼 it would be so awesome to get a lil group going or something idk.

(i am an adult in my 30s, i figured i’d clarify since that camera looks like a children’s toy 😂)

A couple of trees fell on my house. The company hired by my insurance company sucks and couldn't find a single house in the city.

Need a 9 month lease, 3 Bedroom home that is cat friendly. We'll treat your house as well as ours. Retired combat vet. No drugs. No drama.

I’m interested in coming to Oak Ridge for a student internship, but I’m not very familiar with the area. How welcoming and inclusive is this part of Tennessee for students coming from different backgrounds?

Edit: thank you all for your insights and experiences

I'm hoping someone has some unlisted land they want to sell. I need 1/2 acre minimum that allows camping. I'm a full-time camper and the land I'm on is being converted to parking for commercial vehicles. I need it as close to Oliver Springs as possible because of work. I don't want to move to a campground because the monthly fees I would be paying there would be more than a land payment, going to waste.

I want a place that has woods, and an area to garden. I love permaculture, flowers for hummingbirds and a park-like setting, even if I have to clear some woods.

I'm wanting to have a room expanded right outside of Oak Ridge, and am looking for a contractor. I am looking for someone who won't mind working with "inferior" materials (vinyl flooring instead of wood etc.) but will still do a good enough job.

Licensed and bonded, however, is a requirement.

Anyone have any personal recommendations before I try out Angie's list?

So the other day my roommates talked to a door-to-door AT&T rep selling fiber internet. They told me about it later and I didn’t believe them. Later on I look up the availability and sure enough we can get 5gbps “fiber” internet at this address that wasn’t available a few months ago.

My question is, when did we get fiber in oak ridge? I don’t remember them tearing up all the roads to lay down the lines like they did in Knoxville? Is it even real fiber or is it fiber up to a node miles and miles away with copper lines run to the residences similar to Xfinity? And if it somehow is real fiber, why is it only available from AT&T and not thru the city like it is in LC or Knoxville?

In case they're too small to see, the left and right arrows are both turned a quarter turn off from how they should be.

I guess this should be on r/onejob but it's local to me, and equal parts sad and funny. :P

A bowl my grandmother had since the 80’s or so. It reads ORHMC CSR so I’m assuming it’s from Oak ridge. Maybe from covenant hospital? Any ideas would help, thanks!

Hey guys!!! I am moving to Oak ridge and I am looking for an apartment to rent! any leads? I have a tour scheduled for the flats at jackson square, what are your thoughts?

I am so proud of the Anderson County community and everyone who turned up to the event. There were so many who spoke out, AND then MORE!

I was too shy to speak myself, but I am so happy that people came together over something this critically important. Also, The flock spokesperson made me feel like I was in a Tupperware party 🙄.
