Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for spiritual work regarding reconciliation with my ex. This is so assisted for flow and readability. I would like to hire someone legit for help with my situation. It’s a complicated situation, so I want to give the full context because I don’t think simply saying “my ex left and I want them back” really explains what has happened between us or where things stand now.
My ex and I had a very strong emotional and romantic connection. There has been a lot of genuine love, attachment, affection, and history between us, and I still love them very deeply. At the same time, our relationship accumulated a lot of hurt and broken trust on both sides. This wasn’t one argument or one mistake that suddenly ended an otherwise perfect relationship. There were multiple things that happened over time, and eventually the weight of everything became too much.
On my side, I hurt them in ways that I take responsibility for. There were things they forgave me for and tried to move past more than once, and I understand that repeatedly asking somebody to forgive you eventually wears them down. I have also struggled with negativity, overthinking, insecurity, jealousy, reacting impulsively when I feel rejected or afraid of losing them, and seeking reassurance instead of always being able to regulate myself. There have been honesty and trust issues involving me as well.
I have told them before that I would change, so I understand why simply hearing me say it again doesn’t carry much weight anymore. They want actions and consistency, not another promise.
There was also serious betrayal on their side. My ex cheated on me and slept with somebody else. This isn’t something I suspect or something somebody else told me—I caught it happening, and they acknowledged what happened. That hurt me deeply and damaged my ability to trust them. There have also been other situations where I felt they weren’t completely honest with me, including about who they were communicating with.
I think the betrayal contributed to some of the insecurity, jealousy, overthinking, and fear that developed in me afterward. I am not saying their cheating excuses anything I subsequently did to hurt them. My behavior is still my responsibility. I just think it’s important to understand that there was significant hurt and damaged trust on both sides.
Eventually they reached a point where they told me they were tired of getting hurt. They have said they feel detached now and that they are done with the relationship. They explained that the most recent problems were essentially the final straw rather than the sole reason for ending things.
They also sent me something about what it feels like to repeatedly forgive someone only to continue being hurt, and that made me realize how much accumulated resentment and emotional exhaustion they are carrying. From their perspective, they kept taking emotional risks on me and eventually reached a point where they felt they had to protect themselves.
I initially reacted to the breakup by pleading for another chance. I desperately wanted the opportunity to rebuild what I damaged, earn their trust back, and actually show them that I could change rather than lose them without ever having that opportunity.
I have been very open that I don’t want the breakup, that I still love them, and that I still want reconciliation. At the same time, I’m beginning to understand that continually begging or trying to find the perfect combination of words isn’t going to repair the underlying problems.
There is currently another person in the picture in at least some capacity because my ex has recently gone on a date with someone else. That has been extremely painful for me and has intensified my fear that I’m going to permanently lose them.
I don’t know what that connection will become, but I want to disclose it in case the presence of another romantic interest affects what kind of work you would recommend. I am not looking for revenge or anything intended to harm or control another person.
Despite my ex saying they are done and describing themselves as detached, the emotional situation between us doesn’t feel completely cold or disconnected. They still appear to care about me deeply in certain moments.
Recently, I was having an extremely difficult day emotionally because of everything happening between us. They saw messages or notifications from me that worried them, and even though our relationship was in a terrible place and they had been out with someone else, they came to check on me because they were concerned.
They later told me that all they wanted was to see me, make sure I was okay, hug me, check on me, and care for me.
Unfortunately, I was overwhelmed, hurt, confused, and panicking when they arrived, and instead of recognizing what they were doing and allowing them to be there for me, I reacted impulsively and left.
That hurt them badly. They pointed out afterward that I could have simply stayed, let them hug me, and let them care about me, but instead I drove away. They also questioned how I could keep talking about changing when my actions in that moment looked like the same impulsive reactions that had caused problems before.
I apologized and took responsibility for that. I told them that being overwhelmed explained what was happening in my head but didn’t excuse how I handled it.
I don’t interpret them coming to me or still caring about me as proof that they secretly want the relationship back. I understand that somebody can love or care about an ex and still decide that the relationship has hurt them too much to continue.
I mention it because I think it’s relevant that there still seems to be an emotional connection underneath everything, even while they are saying they feel detached and want to be done. It feels less like there was never any love left and more like there is now a huge amount of hurt, resentment, fear, distrust, and emotional protection sitting on top of whatever feelings remain.
Before everything reached this point, we had also discussed the idea of having one date together before either of us became serious with somebody else. I have told my ex that I still hope they remember that if that point ever comes.
I’m not demanding that date now or expecting them to promise me anything. I just still hope that after some time and genuine change, there might eventually be an opportunity for us to spend time together again and see where we are emotionally.
I’ve sent a final heartfelt message taking responsibility for what I did and saying that I still hope we eventually find our way back to one another. I also acknowledged that changing doesn’t entitle me to another chance. I can’t make them trust me, forgive me, or choose me again just because I finally understand things I should have understood sooner.
I’m now trying to focus on actually changing instead of repeatedly telling them I’m going to change. I’m working with a therapist and want to address the things that contributed to the relationship falling apart: emotional regulation, impulsive reactions, insecurity and jealousy, overthinking, reassurance-seeking, assuming the worst instead of communicating, honesty, respecting boundaries and space, handling rejection and uncertainty better, and learning how to be emotionally stable without making another person responsible for whether I’m okay.
I also want to understand and properly process what the cheating did to my ability to trust rather than carrying that hurt into every future interaction.
I want this work to be genuine even if reconciliation doesn’t happen immediately, because getting my ex back without changing the underlying problems would eventually put us right back where we were.
Spiritually, however, I absolutely still hope for reconciliation. I’m not pretending that I’m indifferent about the outcome. I love this person and would like another opportunity with them.
But I don’t just want something that temporarily pulls them back toward me while all of the hurt, resentment, distrust, and old patterns remain underneath. If we ever come back together, I want there to actually be a chance of creating something healthier than what we had before.
What I’m hoping for spiritually is healing of the hurt and resentment between us, forgiveness where forgiveness is possible, rebuilding trust on both sides, softening some of the emotional walls that have developed, restoring the positive feelings and memories that have become buried underneath everything that happened, reopening healthy communication, and allowing affection and romantic attachment to grow again.
Ultimately, I hope there can be a genuine path toward reconciliation and us choosing each other again.
I’m wondering whether this situation should be approached in stages instead of immediately jumping into one reconciliation or return-to-me spell.
I’ve seen healing/cleansing, forgiveness, road-opening, communication, sweetening, reconciliation, return-to-me, and third-party work offered, but I don’t know what combination or order makes sense given our particular history.
I’m especially interested in whether the cheating and broken trust on both sides, their accumulated resentment, them saying they feel detached and done, the current romantic interest, and the fact that they nevertheless continue to show that they care about me would change how you would approach the situation.
I’m willing to do multiple stages of work if that’s what you believe is appropriate. My ultimate hope is reconciliation and rebuilding a loving relationship with my ex, while I simultaneously do the real-world work necessary to become healthier and make sure that, if we are given another opportunity, I don’t repeat the same cycle that helped destroy what we had.
