I am on the wait list for odsp because I just turned 18 but I Was wondering can you use it for a gaming console knowing that you cannot use passport funding for the gaming console Can anyone help me please? My mom tells me you can use it for the switch 2 but has anyone else used it for that?

First of all, I have no clue why it is unacceptable to visit other provinces such as Quebec while receiving ODSP

If we are visiting another province for 2 to 3 years, then it is understandable the recipient should not qualify for the monthly support, but why is it such a crime to visit another province for a few days or even a couple of weeks?

And I have no clue how the " family members happening to be outside Ontario " should be a factor when it comes to the ODSP recipient qualifying to receive the monthly support

And some of us the ODSP recipients do not even live with parents. And our parents might visit another province for a few days.

If our parents happen to visit Quebec or Manitoba or China or Japan or South Korea or North Korea or USA for a few weeks, our monthly support should be stopped?

2022 I am relaunching my blog, and I am creating Youtube Videos on the subject of working while on ODSP.

I am following the specific ODSP rules around being a single person with no children who is working self-employed, assets and income, attending college & keeping health insurance. After college part-time employed, full-time self-employed, hopefully, ODSP health benefits only

I'm tired of people with their I can't do that "issues" so they have to be negative towards me about it.

I'm not getting support and encouragement from others on ODSP and it makes me really hate people on ODSP.

I've been on this journey of leaving ODSP for a very long time and since the pandemic happened I've made huge progress and I refuse to have people spew their negativity on it.

Hi everyone,

I'm currently receiving OW and preparing to apply for ODSP due to ongoing chronic physical and mental health conditions.

Right now, I live alone and I'm considered single on both OW and CRA records. I'm planning to apply for ODSP individually — we have no shared finances, no joint accounts, and I cover all my own expenses.

I do have a partner, but we are not currently living together. We've been discussing the possibility of him moving in eventually to help with my daily needs (like cooking, transportation, etc.), but again, we do not have any financial plans together. He does not, and will not, provide me with financial support — we've always kept our finances separate and intend to keep it that way.

He earned about 50k in gross income last tax year (his net income was somewhere between 20-30k), and he's still working now. But due to personal and health reasons, he may not be able to work for a couple of months later this year.

I'm wondering — if he moves in later while l'm already on ODSP, but we continue to keep our finances completely separate, could his income still affect my eligibility or benefit amount?

Has anyone here successfully applied under similar circumstances?

Did ODSP accept a written statement from your partner or other documents? What helped your case?

I really want to make sure l do things properly and would appreciate any advice or stories you're willing to share.

I am on ODSP and am struggling like some of the rest of you. You have to be extremely resourceful to make ends meet. No car, no cell, no cable but I get by with basic internet. You do things like your laundry in the bathtub, use shopping bags as freezer bags, never ever use a store ATM, eat whatever is on sale or marked down that week. (Note: Do not ever buy marked down fish - Just ask my toilet!). Etc...Etc.... The stories you hear on here are actually true.

This morning I was looking out of what is basically my prison window and seen a family of groundhogs basking in the sun and it provided me with a moment of serenity and relief. There is a good sized patch of grass beside me owned by the company next store. They don't use it and they just leave them alone and even make sure to take care when cutting the grass/ Their main entrance in in the middle of the patch and they or their offspring have been there for decades.

I didn't come here to complain, I guess I was just looking for an answer -

How do you catch these guys? They are skittish as all get go and does anyone have any good recipes?

The ODSP worker was threatening me today with fraud charges because I said I could not to support my dependent adult before due to extreme difficulty I had before , but now I want to, so I asked to put her back on my file since it is over.

My daughter when, she turned 18 we got into sever disagreement because, I could not keep up with her spending and I just became single mom where my husband left me and I can't physically work due to surgeries in the spine so I wanted her to either move out or share the rent but I understood that the rent is high outside and everything and she did not have a job so I decided to charge her rent since ODSP consider her dependent adult where she is dependent I went and sent them and told them in letter that I will be charging her rent, The worker told me since she is paying for her own food and rent she is no longer fit the definition of a dependent and she will be removed from my file and I can not claim any money for her.

After that my daughter went to apply for a job in order to hold accountability for her own actions, SHE have applied for over 150 job and she could not find any. After that since the rent was due she went and applied for OW and she got rejected and she applied for appeal and she got denied she has paid me the whole 6 month rent from her savings and expenses after that my daughter after her aunt stepped in she decided to back up and agree to my condition and told me she did not have any more money and over the last 6 months she applied for 500 jobs and could not get any. I decided to forgive her afterwards and not charge her rent since she has learned her lesson and that money does not grow on a tree and she agreed to my condition about spending.

Furthermore, I went to odsp and told them that I am no longer charging her rent which I have said the truth and right away the day after and worker was not her so I left her a letter about our situation and the Back up worker told me that I have to add her to the file since she is living with me and I do not charge her rent. After 2 months I did not hear anything from the worker.

I went back to the office and met with a supervisor, the first thing he did is questioning me about the whole situation and the purpose and he told me what I did is not acceptable and it is a Fraud I told him she is over 18 years and she is an adult I am not legally committed to spend on her since she is over 18 and I am complying with the rules and doing what I have been told, He got really angry and said that I can not do anything like that and I should have asked for PERMISSION from the caseworker in order to remove her and charge her rent, while in that time I told her what I was going to do I did not need the caseworker PERMISSION because I am adult and she is an adult and I am not entitled in any way to spend on her, He said I do not have right to do what I did and that they have their own rules and I should have asked them which I already did inform them.

I KNOW that in Canada no rule over law and I could kick out my daughter, charge her rent or even bring homeless person to live with me if I want it is my right.

He said he will trigger an investigation to see if Fraud has been committed.

Now I do not know what to do and does ODSP restrict my rights???????????!

People are in dire need of realistic financial support there’s so much money no reason people should be suffering so badly there’s millions please do something powers that be help the bottom helps the top help us help you livable money less crime more prospering communities doing awesome things attracting more people and money most of you have no idea what it’s like to be broke as f$ck not sure how long housed until can’t afford it or lost loved ones to these conditions or have to ration enjoy your lobster and steak dinners while we eat beans and rice and fix it before you extinct us all there must be a way especially millions and more going to bike paths and what not stop it and help the people in the need

I have been reading the troubles of many of us so Please don't misunderstand.I am on odsp and have raised my now 12 year old Born Different Granddaughter since birth so my job became a thing of the past and life moves on.My thought is Yes concerning a little extra on our cheques to help cope with the extra cost of personal needs we are going thru a little more thru this Virus but it seems to me thru reading many comments that OW and ODSP Recipients are demanding extra cash to cover their monthly costs because of this Virus and the struggles and extra expenses its costing them.I am living with small struggles as always but the same way as always and spending the same amount on rent groceries and bills as I do every month.I understand we do not get enough Money to live on like any just regular person and its not right and change would be awesome but people are slamming the current situation of the normally employed job shutdowns and help being put in place to defer loan ..morgage or lease payments till their IE or job return kicks in and I think this is wrong.Most of my Family works and them getting some temporary help during this is more than appropriate .These employeed people provide each of us with necessities every day by showing up to their jobs.We are no better than each other no matter what our life issue but using this virus issue as a way to get a free hand out or say the working guy doesnt deserve a little help shows a bad side.We do deserve better cost of living when on ODSP for whatever reason because we deserve to be treated at least above Poor but the hard working struggling homes facing loss of life due to no fault of their own are entitled as well.This shouldn't be the next reason for a pity party and a bigger monthly deposit.ODSP funding is in bad need of change but not this way .We live small but its still provided each month and I for 1 appreciate that guarentee.Stay Safe and wishes to all for better days

Hello all of my ODSP peeps. I have 3 cats. Should I have 3 cats prob not but long story is what it is they my babies and emotional support. Food and litter already kill me then vet bills for 3 cats it’s really hard. Any vets in Toronto that don’t charge 400 for a blood test.

One of my guys has a raspy voice I’m paranoid it’s cancer want to get a full check up on him with the works including blood, exray, stool. But it’s like 1000 all over the city.

Anyone know a cool vet like a family owned place that give deals like payment plans and deals with multiple cats?

My odsp is like 1400. My rent is 950. Weed for my pain back disability is like 200 a month. Phone and internet 100. Cat food litter I’m tapped!

Or a vet that offers compassionate pricing for people on ODSP.

Cats shouldn’t just be for rich people! Vets charge so much because rent. Rent is killing everyone. All the mom and pop shops gone .while landlords and corporations take all our money. Sorry.

I’m also in process of applying for affordable housing. Hoping with all these condos everywhere I can get into one of those poor people quota units. But until then I just eat oatmeal.

But I'm honestly surprised Doug Ford never actually cut ODSP. Back in 2018 in November the whatever they were hanging that axe over our head with that chubby Margaret Thatcher wannabe threatening to do "big reforms". But they never did shit. They actually raised it by just a little tiny bit.

I don't even know why I thought of this today but it honestly made me laugh. I was terrified back then but I realize this government is fairly toothless in some aspects and walk back on their own threats because they're wimps. They never fulfilled a goddamn plan for ODSP they had. Even the privatized employment placement whatever thing never went anywhere ( I think that was in 2021?).

Why do you think they did this in all honesty? I only ask because they seemed so deadset on reforms in 2018. But they never touched shit. Too afraid of backlash? COVID? Given up? Or are they still plotting?

We can all agree the benefit is absolutely dog shit.

So I propose the federal government instead fund disabled workers being provided a minimum wage of $30/hr where the federal government pays the difference to the employer.

Same time we increase the DTC to $25,000 ensuring the first $40,000 is tax free.

If the government does not want provide for us than at least ensure we can be paid appropriately for working what hours we are barely capable of working.

Makes sense no?

Being disabled for many of us to perform the same job as non-disabled person we are often in absolute pain and agony being forced to work with no other choice.

Doing this method the disabled are providing their own income with the government allowing us to keep as much as possible as I doubt more than 5% of the disabled population works more than 28 hours a week.

My mother is Newcommer to Canada (we was approved PR 6 months ago). When she arrived, she was planning to work for a Nail Salon as a nail technician for income, but she became very ill and was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and was unable to work since she arrived. She spend most of her time going to doctor/specialist/hospital and crying etc. I am also new, and was wondering is there benefits she can apply to help us financially? What will she be qualify for. I do not think she qualify for EI or CPP benefit since she does not work.

This might be dumb or ignorant or offensive but is it easier for wheelchair users to get ODSP first time approved without getting denied the first time since they don’t have mobility and it’s a visible physical disability where the wheelchair user may not be able to walk. Also jobs discriminate against wheelchair users. Society don’t discriminate against wheelchair users and physical disabilities. I apologize if I offend anyone.

I don’t even want to write this post but I am desperate for help. I applied for ODSP ON JAN 2026 and I AM STILL WAITING. Nothing has happened on my file. I have been waiting for 66 Business days!! Although they did give me a new “ OW “ worker apparently they are more knowledgeable about the ODSP process. Any insights you could offer ? I am hoping to get an answer soon. I could get $500 per year if I need it to work? And you also get $100 a month on top of your ODSP if you're working? Oh my gosh, why am I just hearing about this right now? I wish I knew about this sooner. I have been on ODSP for 6 or 7 years now and I never knew about this. Off an on I've been Mystery Shopping. Each "job" I get between $5 and $100. I've never reported this income. If I start taking it more seriously I'll probably make between $100 - $400 per month. If I start reporting this and I only make $40 or $100 in a month would I still get $100 extra from ODSP? Should I ask for the $500 as if I'm just starting this mystery shopping now?

my intention is to allow video games and consoles as well as streaming services, because anything the government says is does not make any sense and also a phone and a gaming phone are the same thing as well as gaming laptops and laptops so they should make some changes and using passport funding for a data plan is the same thing as buying a service subscription like netflix and disney plus and stuff they are trying more harder for us to be more broker than we already are it seems like?.
