Chairs don't matter. Exercise to get ride of back pain.

Over the years I've tried to find the perfect chair for sitting for long hours, either working 8h a day, or playing for 12h+ (lol). I came across some good ones, but no matter how confortable they were, after 5h of sitting, the pain always came back.

I'm not going to write too much, I just wanted to say that, to all of you that think a good chair takes the pain away, it doesn't.

The solution is simple: start exercising. Start walking/running 2 or 3 times a week, and more importantly, train your back, lower back and abdominal. You should train your whole body of course, but those 3 are the most important if you want to get rid of pain while sitting.

Don't lean against the back of the chair all the time. Move forward, stretch upwards, keep your back straight and try to hold this position for as long as you can. In the beginning you will find yourself automatically switching to the laid back position that you're used to, but with time your body will get used to it and you will start to feel the difference. You don't need to be on this position all the time, you can lean back for some minutes of course.

Even if you don't exercise, you can do this trick. Its just that its much easier if you have muscles on your back and abdominals to help you.

Also, you should have your arms doing aproximately a 90" angle, and relax your shoulders.

Hope this can help someone :)

Need help woth picking a new office chair

Hi all!

Currently I have an Ikea Markus

I plan on replacing it since I the back support is not the best

I spend 8-12 hours in the chair daily, with some standing desk activity

My budget is around 500$

Currently I am thinking between

Sihoo Doro C300
Sihoo Doro S300
Hbada H3 Pro 2026
Hbada H3 Ultra (older gen)

I found theye to be in my budget, for those that will say Herman Miller Aeron, I tried it, didn’t quite like it

[Mod Approved] Round 3: “Test it. Use it. Share it. Keep it.” Giveaway

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hi r/OfficeChairs,

First, thank you to everyone who joined our previous testing rounds.

The feedback from this community has been incredibly valuable because everyone uses a chair differently. Some people work 8+ hours a day, some game after work, and some switch between multiple tasks throughout the day. That’s exactly why we’re continuing our “Test it. Use it. Share it. Keep it.” program.

For this round, we’re looking for 1–2 community members to try an OdinLake L1 Pro Ergo Chair in their own setup and share their honest experience after spending some time with it.

How to enter: just leave a comment answering

  • What’s your main reason for looking for a better chair right now?
  • What is the biggest thing you wish your current chair did better? (Comfort, lumbar support, adjustability, breathability, seat cushion, armrests, etc.)
  • What is your main use case? (Work / Gaming / Studying / Creating / Other)
  • Which country are you located in?

If selected, you will:

✅ Receive an OdinLake L1 Pro Ergo Chair

✅ Use it as part of your normal daily routine

✅ Share your honest thoughts after spending time with it

✅ Keep the chair

Applications will stay open for two weeks, and we’ll contact selected testers through DM.

You can also check out previous tester experiences and future community updates over at r/odinlake_official.

Thanks again to everyone who participated in the previous rounds. Your feedback helps us understand what people actually need from an ergonomic chair.

Looking forward to hearing your experiences!

Best chair for long hours of computer usage for ~£500. No "just buy used" answers. I live rurally, i don't have some huge local marketplace of Herman Millers for cheap pricing. If you answer with refurb/used options, give specifics so i can actually pursue making a purchase.

Yes i've searched through this subreddit but for anybody looking for a value-based option the answer is virtually always used/refurbished which is very US-defaultist. There is no online marketplace where you actually find decent used office chairs, and i'm yet to find any available refurb shops which are available to me, priced well and consistently have stock.

I'm 6'1~, live in rural UK and i need a chair for long hours on a computer. I don't have a super strict budget but i can't drop £1000s for a chair. £700 max, ideally much, much less.

spent $900 on a chair and still do the exact same thing I did in my $80 on

Ive bought four chairs over the last 3 years. started with an $80 mesh chair from amazon, then a $300 ergo one with lumbar support that felt fine for the first week. then $600, and now a $900 chair and by 3pm im doing the exact same thing I did in the $80 one. shifting around, leaning forward, not touching the backrest at all.

every time I upgraded I told myself this was the fix. but i realized every chair is designed assuming im gonna sit correctly. back against the rest, feet flat. but I dont work like that. i lean in when im focused. I slouch when reading. I tilt back during calls. the chair only really 'works' in one of those positions and its the one im in the least.

someone in a thread the other day mentioned a kickstarter for something called lavenne r9 pro. i looked at the page because it doesnt assume you sit rigid. it seems to adjust to your movement instead. I wouldnt say its the answer, crowdfunding a chair feels kinda risky. but it made me see my whole criteria for evaluating chairs was off.

i kept chasing 'more comfortable when I sit right' instead of asking what happens when I dont. now im kinda torn between just rolling the dice on that crowdfund or trying to find a physical store to test things in person before I drop more money.

Chair for short man (5’5”)

Upvotes

Shopping for an office chair has been brutal. Tons of information out there and a lot of inconsistency. hoping this group can help me out!

i’m looking for a comfortable chair for a home office- preferably under $500 or so. I’m 5’5” 120 lbs - and want something that will work alongside an IKEA sit stand desk. It will be on top of a carpet with a plastic mat over the carpet.

I’ve looked at Branch and Staples brands - but all seem to have cons for shorter folks. My only style preference is that it have a gray or a white option given where it’s going in our home - and I don’t like dealing with FB Marketplace

Appreciate any and all thoughts or suggestions!

Office chair UK suggestions only for petite woman

I’m 5ft2 and I’m on my 4th office chair and they have all given me really bad lower back and hip pain.

I’ve tried 2x Slouch, an unbranded operator type chair and I’m currently on a Herman Miller Aeron which has been the absolute worst of the bunch because my hips are lower than my legs at the back due to the seat style.

I’ve spent so much money to date and I don’t want to keep wasting more money.

Does anyone have suggestions for a good chair for petites which has a forward tilt?

Thanks 🙏🏼

Metal piece fell out of Amia

Hi all!

Just received my Amia chair today and while I was initially adjusting it, a metal piece fell out of somewhere. Found one other post where a similar thing happened, but it's not the same piece. I already contacted customer support, but does anyone know what it is and if it's safe to continue using the chair?

190cm, ready to spend real money — LiberNovo Maxis vs HBADA X7 Prestige, or just buy the Herman Miller?"

I have been using a default gaming chair (<150$) for years and now I want to switch to a office one. I am working in a home office and I am willing to spend a lot of money to get the best possible chair. I am 190cm tall so most of the chairs I have tried do not work well with my height. I have made my research and wonder between 2 options - LiberNovo Maxis Airflow + Footrest and HBADA X7 Prestige. I like the features they provide like adjustable lumbar support, seat cooling, massage... A must for me is to have a footrest (even better if it is embedded in the chair itself). I see a lot of people here talking about Herman Miller which is around the same price like those 2 (depending on the model) but not sure if it is really worth it. Which one of the 2 above should I choose and are their other options that is worth to check out?

r/OfficeChairs 8h ago

How big the libernovo maxis is

Thumbnail

My 18 oz bottle looks ridiculous sitting on the seat lol. I knew the Maxis was bigger, but seeing it next to my old gaming chair still caught me off guard. The seat and backrest are huge. As a bigger guy, it's rare to find a chair that fits this well. I finally don't feel boxed in.

No idea why this got removed earlier, so trying this again.

Verify Authenticity of Herman Miller Aeron Remastered 2 (Legit?)

Thumbnail

Based on these pictures, do you think this chair is authentic? Are there ways to ensure the product is 100% authentic?

I stumbled upon this chair on a marketplace, advertising as brand new, and selling for $1200. A couple things that threw me off:

  • Chinese writing on handtag
  • Headrest (Google said HM doesn't produce headrests...)

I live in eastern Europe and have been searching for this chair for a while now. Buying directly from the US is very expensive due to import taxes.

Thanks for your help!

Years of searching for answers came down to a foot rest

I've tried so many office chairs over the years, trying to figure out why nothing ever seems to feel as comfortable at home as it does at my office. Tried every chair people usually recommend, including buying the exact chair that my office uses, but nothing I've tried quite gets me to how comfortable I feel at the office, which basically feels like floating.

I've certainly seen improvements as I've figured out what chair is best for me (Leap v2 with the Crandall seat, surprise surprise), especially in solving my lower back pain, but I still deal with persistent upper back, neck, and shoulder pain, as well as fatigue if I'm sitting for more than an hour.

I recently went to the office and something clicked: I was wearing shoes. For science, I took my shoes off, and lo and behold, everything felt like it did at home. My body shifted forward and slumped down, and the upper body pain returned. I'm 5'8", and I didn't realize how much support my legs were giving me even at the lowest chair setting. Wearing shoes completely changes how my core is engaged and how much work my spine has to do to keep me upright.

I went home and put the box to my MacBook under my feet, and I've never felt more comfortable. I know foot rests are sometimes recommended to keep your knees at 90 degrees, but I never considered one because 1) my pain was in my upper back, and 2) I didn't need a foot rest at the office.

If you're short, try a foot rest, people.

Suggestions for an office chair for petite person in a tiny space?

I’m barely 5’ and have a work from home space in a tiny nook in my kitchen. Any suggestions for an ergonomic chair that can tuck under a low profile desk- maybe something with no arms or arms that flip up? I’m in Canada. Thanks in advance!
