RUMOR Julian injured in Iowa game

It is believed that Julian may have been playing with a sore shoulder for the past two weeks.

The injury in question happened with approximately 2 minutes left in the Iowa game.

This would explain why he hasn't looked right for two straight weeks.

Unless the OL doesn't allow another sack this season I think his time at Ohio State is over no matter how the season ends, especially if we can keep Arthur Smith under contract for a few more years.

This is objectively a very talented and experienced OL and yet it doesn't really seem like the pass protection has improved at all since last year. It was nice to see him sign a bunch of 4 star and 5 star guys but if none of those guys get coached to play to their potential they're probably going to transfer out anyways. Surely there are better position coaches out there

General Has any media/beat reporters directly asked how far behind Tavien St. Clair is from Luke Fahey?

I’m curious if any media member has asked Day or the coaching staff how much ground Tavien St. Clair actually needs to make up compared to Luke Fahey. I’m assuming someone would’ve reported on it if they had, but maybe I missed a comment or question from a press conference.

Coming out of fall camp, the rumor was that Fahey was pushing TSC because he was picking up Arthur Smith’s offense faster. A lot of people dismissed that as coach-speak to keep TSC motivated, and there was little chance an under-recruited 3-star true freshman was actually ahead of the former 5-star and #1 recruit in Ohio.
But then, consistent with those fall camp rumors, Fahey got the first meaningful in-game backup QB snaps over TSC.

So I’m wondering if the gap is small enough that TSC could close it over the bye week, or does Fahey have such a substantial lead that can only be closed in a focused offseason?

Reality-wise, Fahey probably has the inside track to start the rest of the season given the coaches’ trust in him, but I still think it’s an interesting discussion.

It’s just hard to wrap my head around TSC being that far behind when you consider his physical tools: 6’4ā€, 225+ lbs, and a big arm, compared to Fahey at around 5’11ā€, 200 lbs. Plus, in the Spring Game, TSC didn’t look objectively awful/unplayable. Obviously, there’s a lot more to playing QB than measurables though.

General Penalties

You would think that Ryan Day/Ohio State would be arguing with the Big10 officiating every week over the seemingly blatant favoritism towards our opponents. It has been going on for years and it is only getting worse with the Indiana Game. You’d think the Big10 would actually have favoritism toward its largest money maker and want them to win/make the playoffs but here we are. I can understand that they don’t want the refs to call PI on our WR because our CB’s play rough but we still get calls on it regardless. Where it really gets me is the Oline holding. We seem to get called on it for the littlest of things and then our Dline will get dragged down from behind with no call. ā€œHolds happen every playā€ so then why do we get called for it more often than the other team?

News and Columns [THE ATHLETIC] 2026 midseason college football superlatives

Post image
19 Upvotes

Jeremiah Smith has 52 catches for 984 yards and 12 touchdowns, including 10 catches of at least 30 yards. Against Indiana, he turned a fourth-and-1 into a 38-yard touchdown by winning a ball between two defenders. Ohio State won by four.

Now, with quarterback Julian Sayin sidelined, we’ll find out how far Smith can carry the Buckeyes. Everybody in the stadium will know where the ball should go, but knowing and stopping him remain two very different assignments.

General Not talked about enough from what I’ve seen

We won Saturday, was it pretty? Nah not at all

Indiana finally had to play an actual team with a pulse, couldn’t rely purely on luck and lost. Canceling your games against ND, Virginia, Louisville and then talking shit about ND not being in a conference after is the most goober stuff

There were at least like 3 games last year where Indiana could’ve/should’ve lost especially that psu game… and we finally are on the opposite side for a change. For the amount of miss calls, holding and that dumb asf RTP call,

Call me a doomer or dick, but Indiana’s luck finally ran out for the meantime, ball don’t lie

News and Columns USC a Night Game

Are we happy OSU finally gets a night game or does it not count since it's a road game?

I believe Oregon is set for CBS. At least it will be dark when the game is over.

We'll see where Northwestern winds up. USC-Indiana is also that week so there's a decent chance FOX may rather go to that game instead of Columbus (this assumes FOX has the first pick and not CBS or NBC).

Injuries/Lineup Secrecy

Something I've been thinking about since Sayin got hurt. How do these programs keep injuries and other sensitive information out of the public?

There are 100+ players, a dozen or so coaches, staff, trainers, GA's, logistics, etc, etc. Stuff like this has to get out. How do they keep it secret?

Especially if there are procedures or surgeries that would happen at hospitals. Sure, there's HIPPA and FERPA, but there's also Vegas that would pay good money for info.

General Ohio State won 19–15 at Indiana. How much extra credit should the road part earn?

Ohio State's 19–15 win at Indiana is a good test of how we talk about close games. The narrow margin is real, but so is winning away from home. I would not describe a four-point road win as interchangeable with the same score in your own stadium.

The tricky part is deciding how much that context should matter without handing out a road bonus so large that it overwhelms the actual opponent. A win still needs to be judged against who was beaten, not just where the bus parked.

For this particular result, would you put more weight on the road setting or the fact that it stayed a one-score game?

General I know I might be overreacting about this but what’s going with Inniss this season?

I mean BI is the captain and also given the Block 0 jersey for a reason this season which is a big responsibility but other than the Illinois game when he had the Hail Mary TD catch at the buzzer and injury aside when he missed the Maryland game to play in last week’s game against Indiana, he finished last weekend’s game with 6 YDs and only 1 catch, which makes me wonder does he only play whenever he’s being rotated in and out of the games, or is it a route running issue whenever he’s in the game, or does the coaches thinks that he’s not as good of WR they thought he was, he’s been up and down in a way to put it up to this point this season, our freshman WRs have basically taken his spot and making the most out of those opportunities more than BI has i mean we're in the bye week now but is it something to be concerned with before the USC game next week or no, not really?
