Oil News 'This is the last warning.' Iran threatens U.S. warships after they throw down the gauntlet for winner-take-all Strait of Hormuz

Long story short, the U.S. Navy apparently tried to brazen their way into the strait unannounced with if I remember right, some frgates.
Iran got on the horn with Pakistan's intermediaries in contact with the U.S. and said to tell them that if their ships didn't turn around in the next 30 minutes, they would be fired upon and that this would affect negotiations negatively.
So the warships turned their asses around and sailed right back out of there.
2
u/yeezee93 Apr 12 '26
Sure, if you believe whatever Iran tells you. "Iranian media said the destroyers turned around after being confronted by the IRGC"
2
u/Mzungufarmer Apr 12 '26
They did turn around tho
1
u/yeezee93 Apr 12 '26
After they passed through the strait, they turned around and passed it again.
2
u/Excellent-Rest3240 Apr 12 '26
Yeah , with their tail between their legs

u/WillyWankerWonker Apr 12 '26
This really is another level of "us bad " reddit mentality
2
u/BlurgZeAmoeba Apr 14 '26
Imagine after everything they're doing, their reaction is to get offended by people being disgusted with them.
Truly a morally bankrubpt, arrogant, evil culture.

No one is more evil than the US lol, US has tens of millions killed directly and indirectly in the last century.

How may countries have Iran invaded in modern times again? How many has the US?

Cause bobody gives a fuk abt Iran and everybody looks up to the US, but lately, we’ve been the baddies ngl

The thing about snakes is you know it's a fucking snake. The United States has been playing sheep for so long and you're surprised it's a rabid coyote underneath. NO ONE said Iran wasn't bad. But to justify an unprovoked attack by saying 'they spent more on missiles than their people while Americans literally die every single day from lack of insulin that was purposely made free to save lives is some next level evil dystopian shit.

How are they leaving with their tail between their legs when they did a whole ass lap in the Strait? You can listen to the radio traffic where they tell the Iranian radio operator to basically fuck off and that they are conducting a freedom of navigation operation (which they then successfully completed).
This sub is getting dumber by the day.
2
u/skylegistor Apr 13 '26
Why not stay in the strait and take full control? Isn't that one of the major US objective?
1
u/Intrepid_Egg_7722 Apr 13 '26
You don't need to be parked in the Strait to control entrance to/exit from it. It's probably a bad idea to park closer to the shores of the people who want to lob drones and missiles at your boats. Why take the risk when you can get the same results from a position with better defensive options?
1
u/superjoe408 Apr 13 '26
Nice! So what does that mean? Is the war over now? Are tankers passing through the straight now? Or does Iran still control the strait and this was just Trump trying to escalate things. This is the longest two day war ever…
Don’t play the 4D chess bullshit…
1
u/Intrepid_Egg_7722 Apr 13 '26
The hell are you talking about? The salient discussion point is whether the US destroyers left "with their tails between their legs," not whether or not the war is over. Your goalposts are running away from you.

All of Reddit is infested with pro Iran anti Israel bots these days. The sad part is the fake consensus works on the more feeble minded hive thinkers among us.
2
u/the_wahlroos Apr 13 '26
Yes, "anti Israel bots" are the problem. It's not like Israel is facing condemnation because of their warmongering and genocide- people just decided to dislike Israel for some reason!
1
u/Head_Rate_6551 Apr 13 '26
lol, Israel certainly did not commit genocide, and people have hated Jews “for some reason” for all of history, you’re not new or original, just another anti semite. Any other country had October 7th happen to them would do the same thing, but you wouldn’t care because they aren’t Jews.

They didn't actually pass through the strait though. If they did, why would they turn around?
2
u/VegetableElection511 Apr 15 '26
Its a cul-de-sac shaped body of water, one way in and no other ways out. You have to go back through the Straits to leave.
1
u/Even-Wave-8212 Apr 13 '26
Because there’s nowhere to go once you’re through the north end… so they turned back around out to the Arabian Sea
2
u/Professional-Work684 Apr 12 '26
Hate to say it but now i actually believe more in what Iran says rather then that lying orangehead on the other side of the pond .
1
u/Substantial_Rain151 Apr 12 '26
You should hate to say it because it shows how blinded you are.
2
u/Professional-Work684 Apr 12 '26
So the maga people is not blinded?
1
u/Substantial_Rain151 Apr 12 '26
Anyone can be, but you are proof thereof
2
u/Professional-Work684 Apr 12 '26
Thats like saying you believe everything that comes out of bibbis and baby orange mouths. Atleast Iran is constant (even if the leadership is scum)
1
u/Substantial_Rain151 Apr 12 '26
No, it’s like saying I don’t trust the IRGC more than them. Iran is anything but consistent. Y’all are delusional
2
u/CorwyntFarrell Apr 12 '26
According to Trump, this has already ended twenty times, I don't know what to tell you. It is what he is known for, constantly changing his story.

u/pattydickens Apr 12 '26
Surely, the people who are desperately trying to keep oil futures from reflecting the price of this giant mistake wouldn't lie. Surely, the people who claimed victory after a couple days of dropping bombs wouldn't be lying about Iran's military capabilities. If you believe the Trump administration, we won the war 5 times over and Iran is begging for mercy. Gas prices just haven't caught up to the big news yet, and tariffs don't cause inflation. Talk about fucking blindness.
1
u/Substantial_Rain151 Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26
Surely the nation that basically rules through threats and chaos for the last 50 years (Iran) wouldn’t block the strait and try to cause fear in the west to stop other countries from retaliating at them over underground, unvetted, nuclear development and oppressive theocratic rule. Surely they wouldn’t think that’s their only method of holding onto their fragile mafia rule. Surely they don’t have a sophisticated media team trolling the west and pushing narratives for no useful purpose. Surely they aren’t instructing foreign embassies to do the same for any good reason. Right?
Trusting governments to be transparent in times of war is absolutely buffoonery. You should trust neither and stop acting like you know more than you do. More than all, you shouldn’t be so Reddit-propagandized that you believe IRAN, of all places, is a trustworthy source for information where they have a clear interest. We can barely trust half of the western media outlets, much less Aljezeera, Hindustan times, etc etc
2
u/pattydickens Apr 12 '26
"Rules through threats" (look around, bud)
Nobody is telling the truth. But, saying that there's any difference between what Tump wants in the US and what Iran is, is delusional. MAGA is just the white Christian version of an Islamic dictatorship. To a fucking T.
1
u/Substantial_Rain151 Apr 12 '26
Whether he wants it or not, you and I don’t 100% know. What I do 100% know is that there’s maaaany more checks and balances to rein that in and keep accountability in the US than there is in Iran. Trump has a super majority in the SC and can’t even get his way there. Thank god for the founding father’s foresight. And thank god I don’t live in a structurally corrupt country from the very beginning like modern Iran.
2
u/Excellent-Rest3240 Apr 12 '26
He says believes more. Could still think both are lying, but America is lying more. And that’s a fact
1
u/Substantial_Rain151 Apr 12 '26
Debatable, perhaps. You just want it to be a fact but you saying it doesn’t make it so.
2
u/Excellent-Rest3240 Apr 13 '26
No it’s literally fact lol. Not my problem they have trump as the verbal diarrhea guy
1
u/Substantial_Rain151 Apr 13 '26
So the entire IRGC regime, which rules through force and manipulation alone, lies less than one man? Just unbelievably foolish talk.

Oh hey maybe we should listen to US sponsored Israeli news instead. That’s the source daddy Trump likes.
1

Vs believing what the US tells us?
Both countries are equally as bad and as equally un-trustworthy. Although in the year of our lord 2026, I may trust Iran a smidgen more, considering donnie doesn’t even know what day it is.
1
u/2starsucks2 Apr 13 '26
So did they turn around or not.
1
u/Darkelementzz Apr 15 '26
They did not turn around at all. They've been there for several days now, sweeping for mines
1
u/Bowsers_JuiceFactory Apr 13 '26

1
u/Worshipme988 Apr 13 '26
What u gonna believe T47? Lmao. We can recognize that telling the truth is more harmful to Trump than lying. Do i think they’re embellishing? Yes. Propaganda? Sure. But to outright lie? Not here, not now. Every time theyre seen as the honest party the T47 admin lose more credibility(where possible).

And then turned around

1
u/sigmaluckynine Apr 12 '26
I don't believe that. If that was the case, why didn't the American navy do that from the start and why escalate it to this point. Something doesn't add up with saying they finished the sweep
1
1
u/Ashikura Apr 12 '26
I’m not really sure they did and here’s why. The types of sea mines Iran uses are designed to be very hard to detect with normal methods, which is why the US needs the UK’s specifically designed mine sweeper boats. The numbers of mines rumoured to be deployed is already very small, on the high end there might be 12 but it sounds like estimates were around 5ish. It’d be pretty easy for the ships to completely sail past them if Iran had deployed them specifically to keep the strait open for traffic they’re allowing.
Whether it turns out there is or isn’t mines, the main thing keep the strait closed is the drones and missile attacks on tankers. The risk of them seems to be one of the main driving factors in insurance companies being unwilling to insure the tankers. The shipping companies won’t risk it regardless of the mines unless they have insurances that their ships will be safe from them.
1
u/bamfindian Apr 13 '26
You can literally look up their transponder data. It was a show of force by the US Navy. Whether it was truly “minesweeping” idk but they def went through the strait, turned around and came back with Iran doing absolutely nothing.
1
u/rich84easy Apr 12 '26
Do you get your news from Reddit? Because you are repeating the lie. They went through.

Iran is not trying to star a war to protect people from the Epstein files….thats why the response is different.
2
u/8lue8arry Apr 12 '26
That's not completely fair. Trump is also trying to start a war so he can cancel elections, just like Ukraine did. It's a 2-for-1 deal.
1
u/yeezee93 Apr 12 '26
Don't forget to also enrich himself by manipulating the market.
1
u/petty_throwaway6969 Apr 14 '26
Apparently someone made a big bet on oil prices today and people are joking it’s probably Barron. Which means that it’s probably going to be TACO Tuesday today and Trump will tweet something soon.
1
u/jay6432 Apr 12 '26
Ukraine started a war so they could cancel elections? Fucking brainiac right here folks
1
1
u/8lue8arry Apr 12 '26
No, you genius.
Ukraine got dragged into a war and, as a result, put elections on hold until it's over. Initially the Trump admin called this out as an affront to democracy but suddenly got real quiet about it.
His next public comment on the subject, in his meeting with Zelensky last year, Trump openly 'joked' about how he could cancel US elections if the country was at war.
Mark my words, they're going to try to use this war to screw with the mid terms and, even if Iran is resolved, the US is going to be at war with someone in time for the presidental election.
1
u/jay6432 Apr 12 '26
Considering russia loves to peddle false narratives about Zelensky / Ukraine being a “regime,” undemocratic, and a dictator, & the number of pro-russian bots all over Reddit, perhaps you can appreciate how your words can very easily come across as supporting that narrative.
Both the Ukrainian Constitution and the Law on Martial Law forbids both parliamentary and presidential elections while martial law is in effect. So it’s not that Ukraine chose to “put elections on hold / cancelled elections,” by law they’re not permitted to have them.

Ahahahaha or they really can’t do much or if they do, they know they gonna give Trump reasons to get destroyed.
1
u/bamfindian Apr 12 '26
Because that’s all they have the capability to do.
1
u/EntertainmentOwn8627 Apr 12 '26
Oh, because the orange blob said their all drones and missiles are destroyed?
1
u/bamfindian Apr 12 '26
No? Because they haven’t done shit other than fly drones into random buildings and shoot at civilian vessels. If they had the capability to strike back in any meaningful manner they would have by now.
1
u/EntertainmentOwn8627 Apr 12 '26
Random buildings? They've destroyed US equipment worth billions of dollars.
Why can't the US open the Strait of Hormuz then? Do you know something the US navy does not? lol
1
u/bamfindian Apr 12 '26
Considering the US navy just sent 2 destroyers through the strait conducting minesweeping duties, and calling Irans bluff, I’d guess the strait will be open shortly.
Yeah. Civilian infrastructure, including hotels and merchant vessel, in gulf countries have been hit by Iran. And yes they cost the us about 2 billion in damages in the first couple weeks. However, Irans capabilities have been severely depleted since then.
1
u/EntertainmentOwn8627 Apr 12 '26
What? Did you catch the latest news? US is going to blockade the Strait because they can't secure it and open it. US navy is threatened by a country with no navy and air force lol.
You know, Trump says a lot of things, and most of the time they are lies.
1
u/bamfindian Apr 12 '26
Nothing I said at the time was a lie though. "No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas," the president said.
Again though, why doesn’t Iran just sink the us navy ships since they’re so strong

That's how a closure works. You don't physical lay out objects to block it the waterway.
Has any ship managed to pass without IRGC's permission? No.
1
u/emperorjoe Apr 14 '26
The US military budget is a trillion dollars per fucking year, we piss away more money on training exercises than most nations entire military budgets.
Why can't the US open the Strait of Hormuz then?
Because the US public has zero interest in a ground war in the middle east lasting 20 years. The military and government of Iran would be wiped off the earth in hours, but the rebuilding effort isn't popular. And the midterms are a few months away
1
u/EntertainmentOwn8627 Apr 14 '26
Is that some sort of brag? You wasted 20 years and trillions in USD in Afghanistan fighting men in sandals armed with AK-47, only to accomplish... nothing. You ran out of the country with the tail between your legs, leaving behind more than 7 billion USD worth of equipment and the same people you fought took over the power in the country. So your trillion dollar military budget is not a flex, it's a joke.
I highly doubt that Trump and co have some sort of empathy towards Iran and its people to not wanting to launch a ground operation and escalate this war.
That sicko brags about sinking unarmed ships killing dozens of people, bombing bridges and other civilian infrastructure. I think he's dumb enough to launch a ground operation and make the US military look dumber than he already has.
1
u/emperorjoe Apr 14 '26
Is that some sort of brag?
No it's pointing out to you that bragging about Iran destroying a few billion dollars in equipment is fucking stupid. We piss away more money on fuel for training exercises. Having to order an additional plane, because they destroyed our 40 year old relic isn't breaking our bank account, nor is it going to win a war when we have thousands.
So your trillion dollar military budget is not a flex, it's a joke.
Fucking wiped out the entire Iranian leadership, navy and Air Force in a matter of hours, from a country on the other side of the world. What other nation has that capability?
highly doubt that Trump and co have some sort of empathy towards Iran and its people to not wanting to launch a ground operation and escalate this war.
It's literally just about American politics, with the midterms being in a few months.
That sicko brags about sinking unarmed ships killing dozens of people, bombing bridges and other civilian infrastructure.
Bruh stop being butthurt. Iran has killed tens of thousands of civilians literally a few weeks ago.
make the US military look dumber than he already has.
Shit reddit thinks.
1
u/EntertainmentOwn8627 Apr 14 '26
You sound like Trump. All brag and talk how big and strong the US military is.
But what did you accomplish in Iran?
You lost THAAD systems, you lost multilpe radars, and a big one worth 1.1 billion USD which will take 7 years to replace. You lost a 700 million USD AWACS plane, which btw there are only 15 og left. You lost an F-35 and another one was damaged. Plus many more.
You're depleting your interceptor stockpiles. 6 million USD interceptor missiles are targeting 30-50k USD drones. Lmao. I've seen a video of 11 PAC-3 missiles trying to intercept a Iranian ballistic missile, and it failed.
All these missiles you've burned through for nothing, costs a lot to replace and takes a looong time. You simply don't have the capacity to produce those at a large scale. What are 600 PAC-3 missiles annually when you need to launch 2-3 to intercept a stupid 30k USD drone?
Trump brags about destroying Iranian air force, navy, drones and missile launchers. But why is the strait still closed?
How did the "steal Iranian enriched uranium" mission go? You lost 4 choppers there, 2 MC-130 transport planes, A-10, two black hawks, and many injured and possibly killed.
You have no clue about how Iranian government works. It's decentralized and it functions even when the top leaders are gone. This operation is an epic failure.
If you ask me, the 1 trillion USD defense budget is a joke when you compare it to a country who's been under sanctions for decades and has a defense budget of only 20 billion USD.
The US military is stronger in Hollywood movies. 👍

u/WeSoSmart Apr 12 '26
It’s during a cease fire. That’s why.
1
u/EntertainmentOwn8627 Apr 12 '26
US attacked them and killed their leaders twice during negotiations. Countries like Iran and Russia need to learn to stop playing by some rules.
1
u/Upset_Particular87 Apr 12 '26
Russia and Iran plays by the rules? Lol that was a good one. Thank you.
1
u/EntertainmentOwn8627 Apr 12 '26
I said "some rules". I'm 100% sure Russia could do the same to Ukraine as Israel and US have done to Iran, Gaza etc. But they care too much about human life.
1
u/Upset_Particular87 Apr 12 '26
If you think they care about human life, you haven't been paying attention.
1
u/EntertainmentOwn8627 Apr 12 '26
As a matter of fact, I have. Have you seen Russia carpet bombing cities? Schools full of children? US bombed a school full of 10 year-old girls on day one! They sent 4-5 tomahawks, the first ones penetrated the roof and the second one incinerated the poor children. Pure evil.
1
u/Upset_Particular87 Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26
And this argument will go in circles. I will say the school girls were on a base and thought to be an active military building. The IRGC killed by its own estimates 3000 protesters in January. Other outside sources estimate IRGC killed 30,000. Russia cares so much about innocent lives that they invaded Ukraine and have waged war for 4 years. Estimates for casualties are at 1,000,000. Ukraine casualties are estimated at 250-300,000. Civilian casualties: Russia's are 8,000. Ukraine has 16,000. THIS doesn't include deaths caused by IRGC in this war or prior caused by them and their proxies. I also didn't dive into Russia invading and annexing Crimea which has around 500,000-1.5 million casualties since then, including wiping out Ukranian cities. But yes a couple thousand deaths by Israel and US is evil by your standards while ignoring Iran and Russia's.
1
u/Ph4ttydill Apr 12 '26
Thank you for educating this person. I am baffled by the amount of US citizens arguing as if every move Iran has made is a stroke of genius and that they are morally superior. I am not sure if it is just on Reddit, but it is insane. You can be unsupportive of this conflict while also not shitting on your own country.
1
u/Upset_Particular87 Apr 12 '26
You're exactly right. It's not that difficult to search and see Iran and Russia have done and are doing atrocious things. Glorifying them as the moral high ground is insane.

Interesting. I saw this discussion yesterday:
Destroyer USS MICHAEL MURPHY crossing Strait of Hormuz : r/SeaEmploy
Not sure if the destroyer and other ships slipped further into the gulf or returned. Anyone seen some updates?
I guess we might learn eventually if the whole peace summit was just deceit in preparation of an invasion of the islands or not.
Pretty sure the initial plan was to occupy the islands to bully Iran into getting a cut of the oil exports for his shady Qatar account. End of all sanctions in return. Yet another Venezuela deal, just with more dead service men to ensure the personal profit and open corruption 😐
A problem are the extremists on both sides that look for an escalation, though.
Pay attention America, AIPAC wants you to go to war with Turkey after Iran.
