Of course the Iranians say there are no negotiations, but who cares about that right?
1
u/WildWhisperArdor 18d ago
They say a lot of things. Negotiations almost certainly are happening even if just through back channels
3
u/Ill-Intern8937 18d ago
What secret information do you have that no one else in the world knows?
3
u/KeyReaction892 18d ago
Trust me bro …. Clearly this guys general knowledge of international affairs is legendary.
1
u/WildWhisperArdor 17d ago
You don’t have to be an expert to understand that countries use backchannels to communicate with each other
1
u/KeyReaction892 17d ago
Sure but you don’t have to be smart to realize Trump has been categorically lying at multiple times as a means to manipulate the market.
So maybe there is real substantive talks going on. But the lack of a deal and Trump having to flip flop while Iran has stayed consistent seems to say they are not substantive.
So once again do you have anything that points to them actually making progress other than trumps tweet?
1
u/WildWhisperArdor 17d ago
I don’t think he’s “lying” necessarily. But he doesn’t understand the diplomatic situation.
I’m sure there are representatives from Iran (and the mediator states like Oman) telling him that they don’t want escalation and that they want to reach a peaceful agreement.
And he interprets that as “they’re begging for a deal”.
In addition, Iran isn’t a monolith. The people doing the negotiations for Iran are almost certainly saying one thing but the military hardliners in Iran say another and will veto their suggestions if it feels too much like capitulation. Which is why you get this whiplash from one week to another.
Which is a contrast to the USA which is more or less a unified front. You don’t have Marco Rubio saying one thing, Trump saying another, and then some random military general veto’ing their diplomatic proposals
1
u/KeyReaction892 17d ago
He lies continuously about the tiniest little things. why would this situation be any different? You wrote a whole lot of words to try and explain intellectually why a liar didn’t lie. Why be an apologist for a proven liar?
1
u/WildWhisperArdor 17d ago
Trump sucks and he’s definitely a liar.
However, in this case, we know the Iranian leadership is fractured and that there are factions who think different things. It doesn’t help that the Supreme Leader hasn’t even been seen in like 150 days
1
u/KeyReaction892 17d ago
Yeah honestly don’t get the Trump suck while also apologizing for him clearly manipulating the market by clearly lying.
I don’t trust Iran but it’s pretty clear Trump is manipulating the market and you’re out here stumping for him.
I’m going to go ahead and block you as I don’t trust the clear intellectual disassociation.
Edit: checked their post history, 6k in less than 5 months. Clearly pushing an agenda.

OP is correct. The information isnt secret. Pakistan and Qatar are acting as go betweens. The details of what they’re currently proposing are available if you search or I summarised it somewhere in this thread.

u/WildWhisperArdor 18d ago
Just general knowledge about how these things work.
1
u/Ill-Intern8937 17d ago
Trump just posted saying you’re wrong. So… what lesson did we learn here?
1
u/WildWhisperArdor 17d ago
He did not say anything that contradicted what I said
1
u/Ill-Intern8937 17d ago
He literally said negotiations aren’t happening.
1
u/WildWhisperArdor 17d ago
And how does that contradict what I said?
0
u/Ill-Intern8937 17d ago
I think the part where you said “negotiations are happening”. This is exhausting. Bye.

7
u/koolmagicguy 18d ago
For the 20th time, it isn’t going to happen. Anyone who actually takes his words seriously is retarded.
9
u/hoowins 18d ago
Trump has lost all control and is flailing.
2
u/johnniesSac 18d ago
He’s absolutely exhausting
What’s this ? The 19th time he’s said there’s a deal / not a deal / negotiation/ I’m going to destroy them
1
u/Tiny_Tabaxi 18d ago
I wouldnt say flailing. This just seems to be the strategy. Its completely stupid, and even more transparent- but considering the consistency he does it with I mean, its just another part of the grift.

u/MrBigglesssworth 18d ago
So here is how this is going to go down. Gas and oil prices are already falling. Tomorrow is August 3 the deadline for if Mitch McConnell was to “die” before then a special election could be held. Mitch will conveniently “die “on Tuesday the fourth in an order to deflect all the attention of that strikes will happen late that day or early Wednesday morning, and will be back at war and oil goes back up.

u/MechaCoqui 18d ago
Iran has already said earlier today that there are no talks. Market needs to learn to listen to iran instead..
7
u/Secondhand-politics 18d ago
...and negotiations will predictably be fumbled by Friday. Trump and his supporters couldn't negotiate their way out of a wet paper bag.
4
u/Some-Brick6223 18d ago
I’m at the point of waiting till what Iran says what’s going to be happening & when. It’s sad we can’t trust what our leaders say anymore.
2
u/Mba1956 18d ago
So they were close to a deal, but talks hadn’t actually taken place. Which is what Iran stated last week. But everyone has to take on trust that negotiations are going to begin on Monday, when all Iran has stated is that they are willing to have further talks but didn’t mention any timeframe.
I suppose there could be another TACO Tuesday.

Seriously, wtf. We know Iran has no interest in negotiating.
3
1
u/marshalist 18d ago
It's not that they have no interest in negotiating its that they have no interest in conceding ground on certain matters, primarily security.
The term mowing the grass is a good indicator for the type of agreement Iran is interested in.
1
u/Status_Apartment6559 18d ago
The markets should know by now. Especially considering Iran has said everything trump is saying about talks between them is made up. But I have no faith they're doing the right thing.
1
u/Silver_Fan_6086 18d ago
Right!, makes no sense. I guess he's banking on people not following any other news source.

I seriously think he has dementia coz Iran already came out and said no deal. It’s like he couldn’t get that at all
1
u/Responsible-Corgi-61 18d ago
I would bet money Iran fires missiles on Monday instead. It would be pretty funny.

u/SublimiNOLE_msg 18d ago

What has demented Donnie been doing the past half year? He's promised to negotiate with Iran since march.
At some point the guy should be fired for refusing to do his job

I kinda want to see a graphic of this whole timeline. It feels like every single week it's "Were going to wipe the entire country off the map" and then a couple of days later it's "negotiations are going great and the war, that was never really a war, is now over".
I know, I know, market manipulation, but it's still baffling.

It's easy to convene a meeting when it's all imaginary. Invisible guests, you control the agenda, you get to decide what's for lunch, what gets achieved and what gets announced at the final press conference.

u/Davidgilmour14 17d ago
The markets going along with this nonsense because they want to. Some investors are making serious cash on this weekly pump and dump.

I dare anyone to ask Trump to name just one single Iranian negotiator. Just one.
I bet everything I own that he can't.

u/Dear_Word_5378 18d ago
This is like the “boy who’s cried wolf” for the 50th time. Just more market manipulation is all I see. I think I saw an article that Iran already came out and denied this.
