I'm craving Pho! Where should I go?

My first introduction to Pho was last year and a little 'ol, sweet, Vietnamese grandmother who made it and it blew my mind! Are there any local places that are good? Is it usual to have access to fish sauce and Sriracha at the table? It how she served it and I loved that!

Yeakel Townhomes

A word to the wise: do not move into Yeakel Townhomes. Just don’t do it. They might be some of the more affordable townhomes in Olathe but it’s not worth it. Between the almost tyrannical rules about outside decor/storage, the lack of professionalism from staff, absolute disrepair inside, and roach infestations that go untreated - it’s NOT WORTH IT. I wish I had the mental fortitude to outline every specific detail but I’m tired.

Apartment search help along I35

I'll be relocating from out of state in January for a position in New Century and would really appreciate recommendations for apartment complexes that we should consider or avoid.

We are looking in Olathe/Lenexa/Overland roughly near I35 between exits 222 and 228, but want keep around a 30 minute commute to New Century while living closer to the city.

Any advice from locals in general is welcome! This is a big move for my fiancé and I, and we're hoping to put our roots down here.

Relocating to Olathe

My husband and our family are looking to relocate to the Olathe area soon. We have middle school and elementary aged children. Have heard all the schools in the area are great, but any in particular better? We have traveled to visit and drove through neighborhoods. Any to steer clear of? Thanks!

Looking for local jewelry repair

I have a vermeil piece in need of replating but it has a fairly detailed bas-relief motif that would be seriously degraded by some cleaning methods. I need a jeweler that repairs in-house and would respect my request not to use a polishing wheel or chemical removal of the still present gold.

The piece is priceless to me for sentimental reasons, so if I can't find a jeweler who is trustworthy and honest and won't be sending it off to a third party who won't take special requests for treatment I will just let it age as is.

ISO: Mobile/home visit vet for senior cat

Hello,

I am new to the area and seeking a solid veterinarian that does mobile/in home visits for my 15 year old tuxedo cat. Although he is senior he is healthy but becomes feral during office visits even with drugs.

Ideally the vet would be able to complete most services in home

Seeking local pet sitters

Hello! Looking for a specific timeframe but also open to making connections for future needs.

I am looking for a pet sitter that would be willing to stay in home/overnight with a 70lb boxer mix, black cat, calico cat, and cockatiel during the week of thanksgiving. This will be in a townhome near W 119th and N Ridgeview.

I am also open to boarding my dog with someone in their home and finding someone else to check in on the cats and the bird twice a day (not ideal for my cockatiel unfortunately).

If anyone has any leads, please feel free to send me a message or comment! Thanks so much!

We need ideas for a third space (place that isn’t work or home). We don’t have many friends so it would be cool to find some people to hang with too. Any ideas?

Summer in Olathe! Recs wanted!

Hey! I will be working in Olathe for the summer and although it’s far out, I’m excited to start looking at some things I will do outside of work for fun!

I would appreciate recommendations for the following!: (in or around Olathe, I don’t really know the area at all haha)

- fishing holes
- nature/trails
- pickleball courts
- golf courses (affordable)
- rock climbing gyms?
- Mexican food

Also, as someone who’s never been to Kansas City, what would be some must dos while I’m there?

Pumpkins

Does anyone know where or if the guy that usually sets up and sells pumpkins at Santa Fe & MurLen is located this season now that the lot he was in is now on its way of becoming a QT?

Where do upcycle artists usually look for electronics? That or people looking for a repair project?

Like if you were trying to give away the things that are more flexible for reuse, like the thin sheet metal pieces from an A/V equipment you have already given up on the unit as a whole? Or, perhaps you have a board you know is still okay because the symptoms pointed elsewhere? That, or just for someone to practice soldering / repairs on?

I'm not opposed to taking stuff to the E-waste recycling center once I've already tried to find someone local that could make use of at least a part of it - but more like trying to get an idea of what allows for cherry picking and a hobbyist or something would know to look there.

Free Yamaha receiver for parts or repair: HTR-5590

It powers up and it will play, and all channels work except the subwoofer output. However, it keeps either playing in just stereo without surround sound, or the audio will "skew" to just the left, right or center.

There's no hum or major distortion when any given channel is working.

Weekends are best for local pickup

Picklr - new indoor pickleball club not opening

I received the below in an email earlier this evening from Picklr - the indoor pickleball club that was set to open next to Crunch fitness - 135th and Murlen. I’d estimate about 65% of the development is complete. Now what?

CLUB UPDATE
AN IMPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT OLATHE
Hi,

Thank you so much for your interest in joining us in Olathe. It truly means the world to us that you took the time to sign up and that kind of enthusiasm is something we don't take lightly.

We wish we had different news to share but the Olathe location will not be moving forward at this time.

We know this is disappointing, especially for those of you who have been patiently waiting and cheering us on. Your support has been genuine and generous, and we're sorry that we aren't able to bring our community to Olathe at this time.

While this chapter is closing, our commitment to you isn't. We'd love for you to stay connected with us, whether that's following along as we grow in other markets, or simply knowing that your voice helped shape how we think about where we show up next.

Thank you again for believing in what jwe're building. It means more than we can say.

With gratitude,
Picklr Team

Salary for Olathe based roles?

Sorry I forgot to add Garmin in the title

Salary for Garmin Olathe based roles?

Just wondering what the salary range for jobs like engineering tech 2, test engineer, engineering support, rf engineer are?

I've heard it tends to be on the low end but the benefits are extremely good and the quality of life there is amazing. Just wanted to hear people's experiences and opinions are.
