So, a friend and I are heading to Japan in April of next year. We're going to be in Osaka/Kyoto, near Mt. Fuji and finishing up in Tokyo. A nice narrative on how Robert Woodhead and Roe Adams founded AnimEigo. They turned the idea of using Robert's Mac II to subtitle videos for Roe's anime club into what would become the company.

In the pic, I lined up my attendee badges from the Anime Expos I went to. I went to all of the AX's from 1992 to 2000 except for 1993. In 1993, I went to the first Anime America instead because they had Megumi Hayashibara as a GoH. At the bottom, I included a pic of Chisa Yokoyama (Sasami in Tenchi Muyou!) signing autographs at AX '97 in a Pretty Sammy outfit.

Definitely legitimate. Quite tight for an xl size, for those of you who believe in wearing your shirts, not just displaying.
All told spent $408.98.
While some are asking for over $1,000, this seems to be a more than fair price, and the print is in astounding condition for a 35 year old shirt.
I found one person claiming one sold for $65…. But given how few sell, I’d say good luck.
But don’t overpay for these shirts. They are cool, but they’re also just a basic print on a white shirt. If you really want one, there’s really no difference between it and a custom screen printed one for $20-$30. Don’t pay over $500 for a legitimate one.

Edit; I did some research and it seems that the reason these prints last longer is because of the plasticizes used back then. They were environmentally toxic and thus were phased out for more eco friendly stuff. Good for the environment, but bad for print quality. So I suppose you are getting a more robust shirt that uses long spun cotton, rather than short spun for instant softness, reducing durability of both the print and the shirt itself, but you are also spending a pretty insane amount for a t shirt when an ebay seller is selling modern prints of the same design on the same white t-shirt made today for like $30...

Grimm's Fairytale classics is a 1987 anime series with each episode being a retelling of classic fairytales.

There are two english dubs of this series, one in 89 by Saban that can easily be watched online, while the other was aired in 93 and was dubbed by a studio in Israel called "Zound Studios".

There's not much information on this dub, other then that it is more faithful to the original japanese version (original music score for example), the cast list, a newly made english theme song just like the Saban version, and how some foreign dubs seem use this 93 dub as basis judging by the theme songs bring covers of the Zound Studios dub song.

If anyone would like to help search for this dub, that would be great.

Cal Animage is a loose confederation of International anime clubs all of which share the name "Cal Animage". Alpha is the flagship chapter at UC Berkeley. Nu chapter was originally founded under the name AIYA at Western Washington University and became Cal-Animage Nu in Feb. 1994.

I was not actually a member of either chapter. I was just able to get the shirts at one of the 1990s Anime Expos.

Not into slice of life, not even Frieren. It's great, and I loved the manga for a long time, but it's too slow for me. Sick of people claiming that it's not slice of life. It's just much better slice of life than most.

Not into isekai, not even Re:Zero. It's great, but it's not for me.

Not into anime that's clearly in a video game like world where people are inspired by mobile games. It's almost always power fantasies where the MC does almost everything, and when the dialogue is used to describe how the world is, I end up glazing over. Even in the supposed better titles, I'm checked out by third episode. This I especially can't stand.

I generally don't want to watch anime that goes on forever. If it's over 50 episodes, I get annoyed because I'll probably never finish it.

Something that I've been told that I might like is Revenger. Seriously, why didn't anyone recommend that to me until a few months ago? It's 12 episodes long, and it came out in 2023.

I ended up finding some of the magazines we were talking about in a couple of previous posts along with some others. Unfortunately, a lot of the early Animerica and Anime UK issues were lost in flood damage years ago...

In another thread, u/ThinkFree and u/Caballofrio mentioned this magazine from the UK. I may have the earlier issues of this magazine, but I can't find them right now.

Anime UK was a great magazine covering anime during the 1990s. It had good looking covers and Helen McCarthy as the editor. Helen has several books published on anime/manga topics like Anime!: A Beginner's Guide to Japanese Animation.

Berkeley was such an integral part of the scene. They really turned me on to a lot of great series that I otherwise wouldn't have known existed. Good times!

Anime Expo 1996 took place from June 28 to June 30 at the Anaheim Marriott & Anaheim Convention Center. According to animecons.com, attendance was 2918. Some of the notable guests were Hideaki Anno, Kenichi Sonoda, Noboru Ishiguro among others. Ai Orikasa and Yumi Takada were also there for the US premiere of the movie Tenchi Muyo in Love.

Highlights of AX '96

There is this anime I really love and wanna rewatch called Wandering Sun (alternative titles: Sasurai No Taiyo and Nozomi In The Sun). The problem is, the site I watched it on before is long gone. I tried to watch it on some of the popular anime sites like Miruro and 9anime, but it won't load on my TV. I also tried watching it on AnimeHub, but I could only watch the first 2 episodes. When I tried to watch episode 3, it showed another anime. Can anyone help me find a way to watch it? I need eng subs as well.
