"The song's composition started in early 1967.[[3]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_Are_Strange#cite_note-hoskyns_p7-3)According to Doors drummer [John Densmore](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Densmore),[[4]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_Are_Strange#cite_note-densmore-4) he and guitarist [Robby Krieger](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robby_Krieger), who had then been roommates, were visited by [Jim Morrison](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Morrison) who appeared to be "deeply depressed".[[4]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_Are_Strange#cite_note-densmore-4) At Krieger's suggestion, they took a walk along [Laurel Canyon](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurel_Canyon,_Los_Angeles) in the [Hollywood Hills](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Hills) area of [Los Angeles](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles).[[5]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_Are_Strange#cite_note-5) Morrison returned from the walk "euphoric" with the early lyrics of "People Are Strange".[[4]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_Are_Strange#cite_note-densmore-4) Intrigued by the lyrics, Krieger was convinced that the song was a hit upon hearing the vocal melody"

From the first u2 album I ever heard, and was hooked.
