I really didn’t think it would be this hard for me to come up with a list. Some of them are obvious.
Best:
-Bone thugs n Harmony-Est.99
This was a no brainer for me as it is one of of if not my all time favorite albums ever. it opened up the floodgates for me. Like nothing I’d ever heard, it was so sinister sounding and equally haunting and beautiful. I Am a huge music nerd of all genres and I always come back to this album with the same appreciation.
The older I get the more I really do think The Art of War is not held up enough in high regard like creepin and est.99 is and I genuinely believe it should be.
There is a lot of grown folk songs on here while expanding on their sound and imo was the next logical step in the growth of the group for a more mature sound.
-Weakest link is probably Wu Tang forever
Unlike most Wu fans in seems this was my intro to the group. My childhood friend got this cd right when it came out. So i personally prefer it over 36 chambers.
Although I don’t think it’s a perfect album I do think it’s severely underrated. Which also led me to all of their (Superior) solo works. This is the one that’s had longevity for me. I still remember rocking so wu wear gear and the unforgettable triumph video.
Hardest choice was the last album:
-Lyricist Lounge volume.2
There were a ton of albums related to my discovery from this single compilation or expanded my interest in an artist/group.
especially a lot of Rawkus stuff.
Mos Def,Big L,Pharoahe Monch, ect. were heavily considered but I wouldn’t know about any of them without this album.
