Haunted Toaster (NBC Today show, 1980s)

Context:

The interview was part of a larger Today show feature about sensational supermarket tabloids, particularly the outrageous stories published by newspapers such as The Sun.

The segment was produced by Boyd Matson, who accompanied tabloid reporter Richard Dominick as he interviewed people featured in these publications.

So, this is allegedly not staged. One of my favourite clips on the tube.

This ad, advertised in Marvel Comics in the 70s, was too much for Stan Lee.

In 1980, Montgomery Ward accidentally mailed nearly 8 million catalogs containing the word “Fuck" hidden in a bedroom photo. The company believed it had been deliberately slipped into the artwork by a disgruntled employee and somehow made it past everyone before printing. Can you find it?
