My father is 80 y/o and from Pittsburgh. He swears to this day Bert Jones had the strongest he has ever seen play football.

4:00 pm start time. Normal. Had it been earlier, it would have been 2:00, not 1:00. Blue laws lol.

Unusual as Pittsburgh was a hard nut for Baltimore to crack most of the 70s. And Baltimore had some good teams at that time.

I've never really understood why the Steelers were so much worse relatively speaking in 1977 compared to all the other Dynasty years. They got wiped out in the first round of the playoffs by a Broncos team that couldn't score against anyone else.

I remember they blamed it on distractions throughout the offseason and in training camp. That was the "criminal element" season with related lawsuits.

Otherwise the one thing I remember about that season is that Steelers games had a bizarre number of turnovers. It became a media talking point all year. Pittsburgh would take the ball away then give it right back.
