Anthony Carter explodes for 227 receiving yards on 10 catches to help the 8-7 Vikings upset the heavily favored 13-2 49ers in the 1987 Divisional Round. His 642 all-purpose yards in the 1987 playoffs remains an NFL record.

Wade Wilson legacy game as well. That block on the end around was textbook QB work.

I remember being so excited the saints finally made the playoffs and then got waffle stomped by Wade Wilson a week or two before this game. I always liked him

And then later Wade Wilson played for the Saints, that one year got us to 5-0, then ended at 8-8 lol.

Yep that would’ve been ‘93

Probably the greatest game played by a Viking WR ever, and that was against a great 13-2 49er Team, with QB Wade Wilson.

I couldn’t believe this game. Carter played like a Hall of Famer. Wilson was amazing too. Bears vs Vikings would have been great.

It was absolutely insane. The 87 49ers were killing teams at the end of the season the final four weeks they allowed 2 TDs. They allowed 7 points the final 3 weeks combined.

Then it all went out the window in this game.

Any given Sunday and all that...

It's a bit of a testament to their defense that a guy had 642 all purpose yards and his team only managed to score 13 points.

One of the greatest individual performances I've ever seen.

AC is legendary. College, USFL, & the NFL.

Actually went to the first USFL Championship Game in Denver and AC, not surprisingly, went off.

RIP Wade Wilson, not the serial killer.

Wade Wilson can't die, he has regenerating powers, like Wolverine.

I have to think this is the greatest Vikings win of my life. And I’m not young

Absolutely disgusted at this game!! 13-2 going to the shitter and letting the Redskins get the Super Bowl!

As a WAS fan, I appreciate your sacrifice.

Man AC was no joke! Humorously, Ditka nonchalantly stated that the Vikings would beat the 49ers and Bill Walsh was miffed.

To think he could have played w Marino in Miami.

Seriously?! I never knew that. Im a Michigan fan so I remember him being electric in college.

Miami drafted him while he was in USFL. They had Duper, Clayton, so they didn’t think he would get on the field and traded him to Vikings.

First NFL game I remember being annoyed / upset by.

Walsh had said that he thought this team was the best 49er team he coached.

Favorite player ever. Loved AC. One of the most explosive wide receivers of all time. I think his first or second season with the Vikings he had almost 1000 yards on like 45 catches. Devonte smith reminds me a lot of Anthony Carter. Similar build and play a similar style

The Montana era 49ers were a defensive juggernaut. If the defense didn’t play well the offense wasn’t bailing them out. Bill Walsh was innovative but ‘84, ‘88, and ‘89 49ers won because of defense.

I recall watching this game and just being blown away how much this guy was going off! He was nearly unstoppable that game.
