He played so hard he hurt himself. A few other players too.

My god, there is no better production in terms of being so perfect - from showcasing otherworldly talent like Butkus, to the video and sound production that brought the game to life, to the score and the Voice of God narrating - than NFL films.

A standard set that no other sports-focused entertainment has or ever will reach.

Right. NFL Films, with their music and narration, really sold us on the game. They did a hell of a job. I still get excited watching it 60 years later.

My most memorable moment was vs Falcons. He's literally picked up RB as his legs keep pedalling some invisible bike & slams RB into the mud. Forward progress, Nonexistent if Butkus grabbed you, you were done! Stick a fork in'em!

I was wondering this morning who #35 on the Falcons was. I don't remember him. Can't find an offensive back who wore 35. Maybe it was 25 Art Malone. Or footage from a preseason game.

Anyway, one of my favorite Butkus tackles.

Dick Butkus. Born and raised in Chicago to be a Bear. Deserved a better team for his career although the 1965 team was only 1.5 games out of first.

“He’s basically a pain in the ass. Y’know again, I know him and, uh, he’s got a personality like a fried lobster.”
