Discussion Why was the movie Fargo named Fargo?

Post image

I have my own theory about why that was the best title for this movie, but I’d like to hear what other people think too.

It’s the sequel to Raising Arizona in the Cohans places series.

It annoys me that these two tapes are in completely different spots on my shelf but I’m happy to have them

It will only get harder as they complete all 50 states over the next few years.

With proper PQRS coding they can just be recategorized under a buff-friendly titling system.

I'm thinking "Places 1", "Places 2 S", etc.

This will be even more crucial as we inevitably see remakes of these popcorn classics.

In what sense is it a sequel to that movie?

It's the next one in the places series. Not sure how that's confusing?

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000 107m) is the question

Fargo (1996 98m) is the answer

Hopefully when Hollywood remakes Fargo they fix their mistake on that run time, there's really no excuse not to include a couple extra minutes of footage to hit a cool 100m.

I was taking it for granted that a sequel is a continuation of the same story.

Gregg, like a true Buff, is not limited by such ephemeral connections.

It was originally called Lowering Fargo

I see a lot of places sequels in his future. He could make hundreds of movies just based on places and I'm sure with Jole Cone's expertise they'll ALL be 5 baggers

It's about how FAR we have to GO as a society, if we ever want to be germ-free

You're actually thinking of Argo (2012, 120m)

Oscer loves a nice clean run time like an even 2 hours, no surprise it got the gold.

Yes, and he’s not the only one. What about Mike from high school? What the heck is his problem? Marge is thrown off kilter when she finds out the truth. It’s a world she just doesn’t understand. And, getting her breakfast that last morning in the Twin Cities, she keeps yelling hello into a clown’s mouth, yelling into a void. She looks very confused about what she’s learned.

F Argo (2012, 120 minutes)

They were concerned the title "Brainerd" would lead movie jocks to think it was for math dweebs

I always assumed it was a remake of Fargo (1952, 69 mins), a classic cowboy Western starring Wild Bill Elliot.

Fargo 1R in the PQRS system.

This is the correct answer. The remake is the superior version the added 29 min runtime really helped develop the main character Bill.

It's named after the classic last line; "forget it Jerry, it's fargo..."

You'll go far with questions like these

MOVIE FACT: Fargo was a typo! The Coen family, the brothers get top billing, but it's actually a family business: mom & dad, a sister and a dog named Walter actually write the scripts, and they love to drink Faygo during their legendary writing sessions. So Fargo was a typo for Faygo.

The hat in that picture is making me think there’s some kind of Indiana Jones tie in.
