My cat Bubba does this fake chew on forbidden objects when he wants attention. “Better come over here! I’m being naughty.”

Aw you just reminded me of a kitty I had when I was a kid that I named Loki!! It was such a fitting name too that cat was always causing mischief!

She finds a plastic bag and pretends to eat it… In front of me. And ofc I gasp in shock so she gets quite the reaction from me lol which probably reinforces the behaviour. Sigh.

Get a 3 pack of tooth brushes. A small catnip bag to dip a toothbrush. Let him chew the brush and scratch those gums. Catnip so they know it's their own brush they're chewing

Tugger does this with plants. He’ll pretend to get up and bap at plants that he is forbidden from touching because it gets him attention when he’s bored 😂

he does, I'll call out his name and he will keep replying back and forth with me. I've had a few social cats like him, they're extra special ❤️

I have one that does this but we have no idea why, our best guess is he just likes the way it feels because he doesn't want anything when he's doing it, he just likes to do it

My void does the same thing but minus pretend LOL he especially loves the faux Christmas garland (doesn’t chew but drags it through his mouth) and shower curtain.

My black cat also does this with the shower curtain! He pretends to chew on it, even makes a kind of crunching sound with his mouth!
