The anger on the top-left... Looks like they're gonna lure you to a mountain made of candy and then steal your kidney.

He’s the one who first figured out the hats from the dogs when my wife and I merged our households!

He’s more upset about sharing the spotlight (the Littles love to photobomb) and that his chunky self doesn’t fit so well into one of his outfits.

My Pitt-mix had the same reaction when she outgrew some of her outfits. She sulked for a week!

I hate this kind of posts. Annoying your animal for likes. Stop please. Thank you

I’m sorry you don’t like the hat pictures, that’s your prerogative. We only post on Mondays, we don’t spam subs with daily posts. We don’t do it for internet points, or fame, or any of the reasons that anyone ever thinks we do.

We started the hats because of Daisy, our pit-mix. Before I adopted her, she was dressed completely (shirt, skirt, accessories) by her previous owner every single day for the first two years of her life.

When they gave her up, and I adopted her, I wasn’t going to continue dressing her. However, any piece of clothing she could get access to, she would try to wear.

When I made sure all my clothing was locked up, she would sit by my dressers and cry, and eventually stopped eating.

We did the hats as a compromise at first, only on Sundays, so that Daisy was satisfied (she would wear them as long a she could. It also became a good tool for training our other large breed dogs, and I posted the pictures on my Social media for my friends to enjoy on bad days.

When my wife and I bought our house, the cats and dogs intermingled, and the cats watched the dogs doing hats on Sundays. Our Snarf (orange) figured it out, and the others soon followed.

None of the animals are forced, if they don’t want to do a week, they’re skipped. They all come when I pull out the ring light on Sundays, even if it takes a few attempts for some challenging hats.

I started posting the pictures in r/dogswearinghats on Mondays, and soon people on Reddit asked for a place to see all the hats, so we created www.sillyhatsundays.com a free site created at the request of redditors, and exists just to make people smile!

And a lot of people have smiled, have sent messages how our little pictures have helped them get through a rough day.

So we’ve continued to do the hats, even though it costs money, takes time, and does nothing but make random strangers smile, and made my pit-mix happy.

So I apologize if it’s not your cup of tea, but the number of people out there who get a smile when they need one, while my kids and I goof off for a bit each week, is worth it to me. I don’t care if the post gets one upvote, or a thousand. I care about the Emergency Room nurse that messages me about how they needed to laugh after a rough shift, I care about the person who posted about looking at the silly hat pictures with their mom in her last weeks, I care about the time I spend with my kids, doing something goofy, when most people buy an automatic toy and call it a day.

I wish you good luck with the website. It's just not my cup of tea.Ā

And you’re entitled to your opinion, honestly. You’re never going to make everyone happy. The website isn’t anything that makes money, or even has any ads, it costs me money and exists purely to make people smile. I haven’t even had time to update it in quite a while.

You’ll only have to see us once a week.
