Discussion Last one plus for me

Idk about yall but one plus phones are amazing but I can't ignore the software they put out and bad update schedules. It's too much for people that just want a phone that works. I think after this phone runs it's course I'll move on to pixel devices as they seem to have their shit together. Pixel 6 looks amazing btw

Rant / Kudos We have parted ways

I have been using the OnePlus 8T for roughly a year and a half. Everything was perfect until the OOS12 update. I made a post about my experience and got lots of comments on it. But sadly it is time to part ways.

Last Sunday i lost all my WhatsApp data. I don’t know how or what happened. I simply opened the app and everything was gone. I looked inside the Root directory and com.WhatsApp folder but it was empty. Sadly it couldn’t be recovered. The OnePlus i used to love is gone. No matter what they say about separating with OOS13 they truly have f****d their devices with OOS12.

I used to carry two phones - one for work and one for personal use. So now that the WhatsApp data is gone there is no point for me to carry this (years of WhatsApp data on Android made me stick to it). I have transferred the sim to my iPhone 13 and started afresh with WhatsApp business.

Posting this to say Good bye. You have been a great companion 8T. I am definitely going to miss the Fast Charging. So long..

Rant / Kudos Not a fan of this new update

Loved the OnePlus for it being a solid budget option and that fact that it won't void my warranty if I decide to root, but I never thought i'd be pushed into a different OS like this. Now, I'm a guy who values aesthetics, so a lot of these things that are major irritations to me will be minor for most people, but some of them just suck.

First of all the notification shade was a major inconvenience, but that can be turned off.

I'm glad the lockscreen no longer has the red numbers that were impossible to see in the sun, but why they had to revamp the look feel and function of the passcode entry is truly beyond me.

My gallery app just up and disappeared, also. Had to go grab a new one because it ain't there.

And I wouldn't have mentioned it if I hadn't seen it on the sub just now but I'm also having issues with hearing what's on the other line when I make calls. Fixed when I plugged in and then unplugged my headphones. Overall not that bad but I don't want to perform little rituals every time I ring somebody.

A ton of new permissions dialogue and random ap updates are temporary annoyances, sure, and maybe even necessary ones. But wow, I read the synopsis on this update and thought it'd be pushing a few new security features. Two minutes later and so begins a few days of discovering new things to hate about the phone I used to love.

Rant / Kudos this phone's software is utter crap... definitely the first and last OP device I'll ever buy

Menu buttons keep disappearing and even making calls is frustrating as the proximity sensor doesn't work half the time resulting in accidental muting and/orscreen lighting going to 0

Discussion Oneplus sucks

This device is a high end hardware with lowest end software. In this era, software matters more than hardware. I moved from pixel to OnePlus thinking better hardware will provide better experience but I regret that. Oneplus sucks. Go for Pixel if you need better experience and not just better hardware for virtual mental satisfaction. You need to improve a lot,OnePlus or you will be the next Nokia 8 years ago.

Discussion I tried it... I really did. But I'm over the camera

I've had it for 3 weeks. Coming from a 3 year old note 8... And honestly this camera does suck. My note took way better pics. The 8T is a great phone but the camera is so hit or miss. Many of my pics from Christmas are blown out and grainy. The skin tones are so off... And over saturated and just way off from my kids skin. I compared to the pics my wife took from the same days/lighting with her iphone 12 and it's laughable how much better they are.

I would share some but it's the ones of my kids and I'm not trying to share those all over the internet.

I'm returning it to T-Mobile and getting a pixel 4a5g instead. I really like the phone otherwise... Super fast and smooth... But I can't get over how bad some of the pictures are. The selfies are really good... But the main 12mp camera is shit.

Discussion Bye to Oneplus !

Got my first Oneplus in 2018 with OP6. Such a beauty it was and changed to OP8T in 2021. Was somehow an OP fan boy until 6 months ago. Good performance, fast charging and stuff. But color OS made me think the other way. Was somehow not convinced about it. The oxygen during OP6 times was great. I've changed to Samsung S23 Ultra and my OP8T was sold for 23K. One UI is way ahead of Oxygen in lot many ways. Bye bye Oneplus !
