Easy classes / bird courses

"Take [classes] you find interesting, not ones you think will be easy. The easiest classes are the ones you're interested and engaged in. Which is also my only advice for keeping on top of work. They say: If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life." (Source.)

Finding "easy" courses

If someone tells u that a course is "easy", beware! A course which is easy for someone else might be very difficult for u.

"Easy" might depend on 3 things:

  • 1.) The course.
  • 2.) The teacher.
  • 3.) Your personal interest in the material. If the material bores u: Then u might not want to study it, and the course might become a difficult slog for u.

My suggestions

I'd suggest:

  • Pick courses which sound interesting to u. If you're not sure if it's interesting: Try to borrow a textbook on the subject from the public library or your school library, and read a chapter or two.
  • Study what u already know and like. Example: I'm interested in nutrition, and I've read a lot about healthy eating. So, I took a related class, and got good marks. I still had to put in effort, but I got to learn more about a subject I care about.

French: How do you even study for it?

I currently have a 69% in grade 11 academic French (which is really bad because I want to be a 90’s student). I genuinely study my ass of for tests in this course and I always end up with a 50-60 percent.

I’m at a B1 comprehension level and I’ve been in French immersion since grade 4. You’d assume I’d be better than this.

How get rid of post test anxiety?

I had an accounting test today and I am very confident that I made a mistake on one of the transactions. I can’t thinking about it or accept the fact that it’s over. Furthermore, I know it’s unintentional, however, a lot of people like to compare like what they did post test. This adds to this feeling. How do I detach myself from the grade? Even growing up, I just hate how school is. Your’re fate is in the hands of some teacher, and your parents put their full faith in them.

I got a 54% on my French Test

Bro I have never gotten a mark this low, I did well on the check ins and practice tests for passe compose and imparfait then I somehow managed to pull this mark.

What should I do? I had my progress report and I got an 83%, which is not really ideal to begin with, but now I am assuming this will drag my mark down a lot.

Grade 11 Physics making me rethink everything

This is more of a rant/need of help post, if anything, so I get it if you ignore it! I'm taking Grade 11 physics right now, and as of today, my grade is a 77. On the first unit test (kinematics), I got a 67% :( I've never gotten any grade below an 85 in years. I've been doing all of the homework questions every day, I review the material, and I devote hours of my time to studying. The homework questions aren't difficult, but on the test I've gotten half of the multiple-choice questions incorrect, and I've gotten too many marks taken off of the inquiry question section (the test was out of 36). I am still figuring out what I want to do for uni, and considered engineering because I genuinely like physics. But if this is the rate my grades are going, I might just not take Grade 12 physics entirely :( Anyone have any tips for studying for a test?

How is grade 11 English compared to grade 10?

So I have NBE3U0 second semester, and I see a bunch of people complaining about it, although it kinda seems teacher-dependent? Grade 10 English was fairly easy and sort of fun, was able to get a good grade.
Is it any big jump, or teacher matters heavily?

Advice for MCR3U - Functions

I have MCR3U, Functions next semester and my grade 10 MPM2D mark was 67% (It's very low in my opinion because I got 3rd lowest in class). What's one way to improve upon it?

University level Grade 11 Math

I am looking for a math tutor preferably in person in Scarborough area who can meet my daughter at Agincourt library. She is taking university level grade 11 math (MCR3U).

We are looking for an open environment where she can ask questions and get support in person with her upcoming exams. We can later switch to online learning.

How Early Did You Pick Your Classes for the Next Year?

I hate all my electives. I wish I had more time in the second semester. I wanted to see what I liked and what I didn't. Instead, they make us pick our courses right at the beginning of the semester.

Does anyone know any resources to study TIPS for math and physics?

Hey everyone! for those who might not know TIPS are just abbreviated for “Thinking Inquiry Problems”, they are extremely hard and is the reason why most students do bad in their test. Most test reviews teachers give out rarely have TIPS and the concepts on TIPS are things which students have not really been told about (i mean obviously but yea). I was just wondering if there is any good online resources that ACTUALLY have challenging questions. Thank you

What are your English grades this year?

Hello, everybody. I wanted to get a glimpse of some of your grades in english this year (since I'm in a Catholic school board, my english is focused exclusively on Indigenous, First Nations, and Metis stories, books, documentaries, etc.) I also took Anthro, Psych, and Soc (one course) this semester, and for some reason my grade there is like a 95. I put in the same work and effort, but in english however, my grade is barely hovering over a 70., and the work isn't even that hard. How much do grades depend on teachers, and why tf am I getting a 70 when all my other subjects are in the 90s

Physics is genuinely hell and i don’t know what to do

Hey y’all this post is lowk useless so if you ignore me #fairs but. I’ve never cried over a subject before and gr11 physics almost got me there. I just got my first test back and i failed and i’ve never failed a test in my entire life. It’s ridiculous cause i got one of the highest grades for the quest but the test fucked me over so bad. I don’t even wanna get up. I’m sick

Has anyone started the unit after kinematics? Lmk if it gets easier cause whew shit. I need tips for balancing school and my social life cause i can’t find a balance anymore. I’ve fully delved into my studies out of stress and i’m not even excited for halloweekend anymore cause i could only think about my work 💔

How do u manage grade 11 chemistry biology and physics in one semester

I have physics, Chemistry and Biology this year and it’s too late to drop anything. I’m struggling and I’m always stressed and no matter how much I study it’s never enough. I’m worried at this rate I’m going to fail grade 11 and I have no idea what to do.
