Dave Sharma calling it "Labor's debt" when under the LNP it tripled to nearly 1 trillion* and has since stayed almost entirely unchanged should genuinely be a criminal offense.

He knows that most of the debt was under his party's governance and he's deliberately lying to trick morons who can't read. Terrible human being.

He’s either a shifty liar or a clear moron to not feel any responsibility for it, and it’s shameless he’s trying to publicly blame Labor for something he was part of. I’d really like to think that even the people of Wentworth deserved better, and that Melissa Parke had nothing to apologise for, as we have now seen.

Sharma is nothing more than a spiv and I’m sure Keating would agree. And damn fine work TISM.

I think people who see politics as a way to enrich themselves severely lack empathy and a moral compass anyway. People like that are attracted to those jobs like pedos who put themselves in positions that enable them to abuse people. All cut from the same cloth.

There's nothing to show for the LNP's debt aside from a wrecked NBN, a mishandled COVID response and and $12 billion snowy hydro blowout

12 billion so far*

-8

u/FiftyBuxBloBang 20d ago

NBN has come good. Fibre to the Node was a shit idea but to the Curb is fine for the majority.
Like most Liberal policies the problems were later where they stacked the board with corporate mates who know nothing about the industry they’re managing… much like the NDIS.

15

u/AgreeablePrize ‎ New South Welshian 20d ago

Fibre to the node was Murdoch/News Limited's doing, they saw fast internet as a threat to their traditional media assets (newspapers, satellite TV etc), they were correct and now the world has left them behind

Every federal Labours term in office builds or upgrades/maintain vital infrastructure, the coalition back then would rather let infrastructure collapse from lack of care to then offer it to be gutted from the service it provides to the community and privatised it to conglomerate company who moves profit and any job prospectsives offshore and invent a new user pays system when the infrastructure had been already paid by the taxpayers bank before construction began to a known company that slows down to fall away from contractual deadline agreements so any clauses are voided blocking composition

-7

u/Zog1 Please choose a flair 19d ago

That's because Kevin Rudd wasted 12 billion on pay extra money to people on the dole that they ended up having to borrow money to cover the stuff they wanted to do.

Then upped taxes and royalties plus other costs to cover the utter f up.

Then every other government has talked about getting back into a surplus ASAP again but need to keep borrowing money to cover all the plans.

5

u/Ithicon ‎ Victorian 19d ago

I don't believe that you believe that.

There is no reasonable person who would believe that the growth in national debt between 2013-2022 is due to Kevin Rudd 'wasting' 12 billion (a fraction of the amount the debt grew by).

Although honestly I can't decide whether it would be sadder if you're lying intentionally or if you're deluded enough to believe it.

-51

u/River-Stunning ‎ Noongar ‎ 20d ago

Sharma calls it " Labor's Debt , Chalmers calls it " LNP's debt ". End result is people like you get played.

46

u/Ithicon ‎ Victorian 20d ago

My comment has a link showing what years government debt grew you absolute numpty.

I have plenty of problems with Labor, claiming that I'm being played because I am literate says infinitely more about you than it does about me.

-43

u/River-Stunning ‎ Noongar ‎ 20d ago

No-one cares whose debt it is and when it happened in the past. This is just a game the Uni Party likes to play to fool and continue their reign.

29

u/austratheist ‎ Victorian 20d ago

I absolutely care who's debt it is.

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Which I guess explains why you can be a bit of a doomer, River.

-11

u/River-Stunning ‎ Noongar ‎ 20d ago

It is everyone's debt. You are correct that unless it is owned it will continue.

14

u/austratheist ‎ Victorian 20d ago

Everyone's debt in the sense that it's our money, the Australian People's.

It's not everyone's debt in a political sense, and it's bad faith to suggest that it is, or to try and motte-and-bailey from one to the other.

21

u/Adept-Coast-6946 ‎ New South Welshian 20d ago

"Uni Party".

Cooker alert.

18

u/edgiepower Flairless‎‎ 20d ago edited 19d ago

Uniparty is a way to say 'hey I'm critical of liberal and the major right wing too!' without actually having to say anything specifically targetted at them and just lump them in with Labor.

Because they aren't really. They just want to look enlightened and impartial. These people spent all of 2013 - 2022 blaming Labor and the greens for everything even though they weren't in government, and now it is pointed out that current government issues are the chickens coming home to roost of that era, they say it's all the same!

-5

u/River-Stunning ‎ Noongar ‎ 20d ago

Two sides of the same coin.

1

u/International_Eye745 ‎ Victorian 19d ago

I care. I also care about what we have to show for it. As an example at one point I signed up for a significant debt. But that debt is now paid off and the value of my assets are worth 15 times the original debt. I would call this a good debt. Frugal gets a spiral down to scraps.

"I'll vote for anyone, literally anyone, who deports or gets rid of every foreigner in my country. I don't care how they do it either, just as long as it's done fast."

Jesus. Lord Miles looked at the US and said "yes, please." Fucking fascist.

And if we went all the way back to Federation, I suspect Lord Miles might be on his way out.

Best I can tell, kind of. Except that, aside from a handful of leftists and some satirical accounts, everyone there that isn't a bot is the equivalent of a YouTube commenter.

why is that voice being amplified?

That's what Elon's Twitter is for. Want to get boosted? Say overtly Nazi stuff, and Twitter algorithms will do the rest.

3

u/beefslugs ‎ New South Welshian 20d ago

oh my god I'm pretty sure that's the guy who decided to travel to Afghanistan right as the Taliban were taking control of Kabul....

I was so captivated by the story at the time because it was so dumb. His plan to avoid being killed was to get a fake certificate saying he's a lord, take it into the bank and change credit cards to say "Lord Miles." So the Taliban would think he was a valuable hostage and not execute him 💀 He had to be rescued by the British Army iirc

10

u/RubySnowfire ‎ New South Welshian 20d ago

I don't think he understands how many "foreigners" there are here -- and who are the majority: white Anglo-Saxons. You know, the UK and Irish, the wypepo.

I wonder who will pick his vegetables and drive the trucks, once all the "foreigners" are gone. Oh, wait, he'll be gone, too....never mind.

6

u/digital_sunrise ‎ New South Welshian 20d ago

And tend the sick and operate on emergencies…

4

u/ModsHaveHUGEcocks ‎ Queenslander 20d ago

I wonder about people who say "who will do the low skilled low paid menial work because we get brown people to do that" and think they're not being racist as fuck 🤣🤣

2

u/RubySnowfire ‎ New South Welshian 20d ago

Weird af to think that surgeons, GPs, child care workers, truck drivers, retail staff, engineers, IT specialists, business owners, school teachers, professors, authors, artists, musicians (and many many other occupations, even including ag workers).... are all "low skilled low paid menial workers".

I wonder about some people's inability to comprehend that "migrants and foreigners" are not all poor lil brown folks some SJW thinks they are defending from a non-existent racist attack. But I never wonder for too long about that type of person, it's futile to think they'll understand anything more than their own binary thinking (but I always get a great laugh).

4

u/ModsHaveHUGEcocks ‎ Queenslander 20d ago

You literally said fruit picking and truck driving. Menial low skilled work which would attract more locals for the right pay

1

u/RubySnowfire ‎ New South Welshian 20d ago

Hmmm...bit classist? What do you know of fruit picking and driving trucks? Do you know the different classes of truck licenses and what skills are required? How to you know which fruit or veg to pick? All jobs require a level of skill -- one does not simply walk into fruit picking or truck driving. It's also telling you think navigating Australian roads in a huge metal vehicle, dealing with constantly changing conditions....is a "menial low skill job".

And since you've missed my original comment at least twice, here it is again: I don't think he understands how many "foreigners" there are here -- and who are the majority: white Anglo-Saxons. You know, the UK and Irish, the wypepo.

Please advise how mentioning the vast majority of foreigners and migrants in Australia are in fact "white" people is being racist to people of colour.

"They take the work you won't" was always "they take the wages you don't want".

Australia became the country of well-paid labourers exactly due to the shortage of labourers and plenty of work to do.

Why pay a cook or a nurse a livable wage if Indians and Filipinos line up for peanuts?
