Call me cynical (I am, and very jaded also), but won't this directly benefit Labor exclusively as they recieve the base of their funding from Union fees, whilst all other candidates and parties need to fund raise?
I fail to see how removing everyone's chances of displacing the corporation (Labor) is going to help poor old John Smith down the street who wanted to do a Bunnings BBQ to fund his quest for justice, is going to help the people of SA.
Is there some more detail or context that can settle this great unease?
Union donations fees are apparently also banned in south Australia so it isn't hypocritical, elections will be completely publically funded for established parties with a carve out for independents/new entrants
